That moment when you realize that this means that Mark and Jackson can hold a conversation in Korean, English and Chinese... My #Markson heart is happy!!! QUICK! Someone make a fan fic about it!! Aish! It'll probably be me. Wish me luck, IGOT7 stans and Markson shippers!!!
There was actually a part of that water fight episode (can't remember which) where Mark and Jackson won because Mark told Jackson what to do in Mandarin so Bambam wouldn't be able to defend himself
Basically the same in America and other English speaking countries, although other members (such as BamBam) are in the process of learning, they don't speak it fluently -or as fluently as- Markson.
if anyone's interested, from the pov of a native chinese from beijing, mark's taiwanese accent is pretty strong imo. you can hear it especially when he says 开心 kaixin (happy) and 上 shang (up/uploaded). it's in the "x" and "sh" sounds. also the ending of words ending with "-ong". plus taiwanese mandarin is usually pitched higher, and uses the palate more than the throat (think of where the german guttural "r" comes from, low in the throat). so overall taiwanese sounds a lot cuter lol.
regarding fluency, he's lacking a lot of vocab, especially high-level vocab, which is typical of chinese who move away from chinese-speaking communities when they're young. but it's not at the level where he'd have any problems interacting in a purely chinese environment though.
Maybe because Mandarin is more of a "throat" language as compared to English which use mostly the tip of your tongue, but Mark speak on Chinese is so hot
Iris Zou yes that is true and might be the case but Taiwanese people do tend to end sentences with 喔,吧or啦...etc more. Mark is such a cute little awkward American when he tries to speak Chinese ^_^
I feel so blessed when I hear is taiwanese accent, because I have it as well and ugh i just feel like i can relate to him so much, since we are both from other countries and grew up there. knowing that someone like him with the 'same' childhood gives me hope that i can be an international singer as well.
I know he's Taiwanese but I thought he could talk Cantonese, I even thought I heard him speak it before (I mean, you don't have to be from a country to know the language). But I don't know.
LMAO He doesn't speak Spanish because he says he forgot the language, he isn't completely fluent in Japanese yet (but he's definitely pretty decent), and from everything I've seen and heard he doesn't speak French. Like, when speaking about the languages he speaks French has never been mentioned and I don't think I've ever heard him speak French.
I absolutely love his accent, when he says "上" or "是" and also "這", the taiwanese accent is really strong and adorable! It sounds not like sh or zh, but just s or z! Also the way he ends sentences in "哦" and "吧" is so cute and typically Taiwanese 💕💕💕🇹🇼
Yea the question was whether or not he's learned any Taiwanese or wants to learn. The girl taught him how to say "eat rice" so he just repeated her and then I guess he suddenly remembered a phrase he knew and said "let me tell you somethin"
I feel useless... im half thai and grew up in thailand in international school all my life but i cant speak thai...i can kinda read and understand though. I'm only fluent in english ;-;
When my bias in GOT7 speaking Mandarin😍 BUT HE'S HAS SPOKE HOKKIAN THAT MAKE ME SCREAM!!😍😍 He said : "Ciak Peng" which mean Let's eat and "Wa Ka De Kong" which mean Lemme tell you or I tell you😍😍 Oh my MARK😂😍 不用说了啦, 我是真的爱上你的😍 我想要跟你在一起😙 아~~ 너무 귀여워😙 사랑해💋 마크 오빠😍 넌~ 내꺼야~~😳
ahh mandarin doesnt sound like its coming from his mouth its such a different language from what im used too. like my brain sees his lips move but they dont look like what he is saying and my brain hurts.
wow I'm shook I've been learning chinese since I was young n my Chinese still suck so badly n he just live in Taiwan for a few years n his Chinese is that good that's so unfair
It's so rare nowadays for him to get a chance to speak Chinese since mostly Jackson takes care of that and he speaks English. It's so refreshing to hear this
yeah he had to learn everything from scratch, it was prob really hard for him. tbh even now his Korean isn't super good like he's very quiet but I'm sure with hard work you'll be able to speak it (:
Wow he and the other members (Jackson and bambam) are really grappling with so many different languages. I read somewhere Mark grew up in various South American countries despite being born in LA. Being a kpop idol who is not Korean must be really hard. I don't blame them for struggling with not being proficient in one language. The fact that they know a second language is amazing. Markson!
I know this is about Mark speaking Mandarin but I cannot stop laughing at JB and Yugyeom at 2:41 to 3:13. They keep talking with their eyes with one another. I just find cute and funny at the same time. It reminds me of my friends and I when we spot attractive men. LOL!
2:42 Markson moment hahaha Q: What is technoholic Mark usually doing when holding an iPad? M: I um... J: Looking at my photos M: What do you mean looking at your photos *giggles and shifts in seat* J: Be honest, stop hiding it from everyone
Its because he is really usually just quiet that i think whatever language he uses he becomes hot just whenever he speaks especially with that low tone that digs up your soul hahaha.
I think one of my reasons to learn Mandarin while I'm still young nearing high school (Some background info, I'm Chinese(25%)-Vietnamese(75%) I grew up in California (In San Diego County, I can speak English and a lot of Vietnamese since my parents talk in Vietnamese at home a lot (my mom's pure Vietnamese; dad's 50/50 Chinese and Vietnamese) I still have yet to learn Cantonese from my dad) is that I could speak in a tongue that some people would understand and others may not and probably K-POP and idols like Jackson and Mark. But as I'm nearing writing in Chinese, should I be writing in simplified or traditional? My tutor is from China and is teaching me Simplified but should I also learn Traditional? Which one is better?
As I know, official Mandarin is simplified. Traditional writing style is still in use in Taiwan and Hong Kong (?), I guess. So simplified is more spread around. But, for example, in Japanese kanji and Korean hanja they also use traditional symbols (of course, the reading rules are different). Correct me if I'm wrong. I think it's better to learn simplified as it is more common and in use.
Ася Лазарева Ohh, thank you. I've wondered if it was worth it learning simplified or traditional but I'll try to learn simplified (I'm not sure how it's used overseas like in the US but it's probably simplified)
pandaluver189 It depends what kind of Chinese you want to know. Do you want to be able to read in mainland china or in Taiwan? Of course the two have similar characters but there's differences that will make one or the other harder to read
taiwan uses traditional. most of mainland china uses simplified. simplified is easier and most people use that, so unless you specifically are interested in traditional chinese, history, or consume a lot of taiwanese media, there's not much point in learning traditional. it's really a lot harder, comparatively.
can you see it?!.... I notice one thing in this video whenever mark talking he clap his hand 1 or twice time it's so .. I'm doing that to some people do that to
GAHD CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG AT 2:47 JACKSON DEADASS ASKED MARK IF HE LOOKED AT HIS PICTURE IN HIS IPAD & HE TOLD MARK TO BE HONEST JACKSON PLS MARKSON IS LIFEU
I'm Chinese but I was born and grew up in Italy and I can't speak Chinese (but I can understand it a bit) so to me Mark's chinese sounds like normal mandarin xD
he's hotter speaking chinese than english x_x
It's so weird hearing Mark speak a lot of Chinese cauz he's always in charge of English. SO HOT

That moment when you realize that this means that Mark and Jackson can hold a conversation in Korean, English and Chinese... My #Markson heart is happy!!! QUICK! Someone make a fan fic about it!! Aish! It'll probably be me. Wish me luck, IGOT7 stans and Markson shippers!!!

if anyone's interested, from the pov of a native chinese from beijing, mark's taiwanese accent is pretty strong imo. you can hear it especially when he says 开心 kaixin (happy) and 上 shang (up/uploaded). it's in the "x" and "sh" sounds. also the ending of words ending with "-ong". plus taiwanese mandarin is usually pitched higher, and uses the palate more than the throat (think of where the german guttural "r" comes from, low in the throat). so overall taiwanese sounds a lot cuter lol.

But sounds absolutely so adorable, and even the way they put things always ending with 哦 and 吧 I love it so much 💕
i just had a realization of something... mark must be hella smart because he knows basically four languages.
To be able to speak four languages doesn't necessarily mean you are smart, I can speak 3,4 languages as well, but trust me im not that smart ;'D
sabrina castillo oh what are the four lanugages he speaks?
+llama amy if you can speak 3to4 languages you are smart, but in an other opposite.
Lili Zhou yeah maybe you're right, but i mean that it doesnt mean we are smart in every aspect
보미나 i think english, korean, chinese and french maybe? but i highly doubt that he is fluent in french.
I love the voice of mark speaking chinese😭
everyone's like ":ooooooo mark speaks chinese???" but like he's said that he feels more comfortable speaking chinese than any other language

When you can finally understand what they're saying
Maybe because Mandarin is more of a "throat" language as compared to English which use mostly the tip of your tongue, but Mark speak on Chinese is so hot
I don't understand Chinese but damn hearing him speak other is so hot for some reason lol
It's moments like this that I am grateful for the 7 years my parents made me learn mandarin and grateful for being around the mandarin dialogue

He looks cooler when speaking chinese than english, it feels like he being himeself, freely and i like it truthfully
his chinese so awkward xDDDD its cute he always ends the sentence with 哦 or 吧
+mentallylazy like that's literally me. (except when he does it, it's cuter)
slaying with that Taiwanese accent xD
SOunds like home ololololololol
Iris Zou yes that is true and might be the case but Taiwanese people do tend to end sentences with 喔,吧or啦...etc more. Mark is such a cute little awkward American when he tries to speak Chinese ^_^
It's totally Taiwanese, I lived there for a year and like 90% of what they say always end like that! Haha but it's so adorable 💕
I feel so blessed when I hear is taiwanese accent, because I have it as well and ugh i just feel like i can relate to him so much, since we are both from other countries and grew up there. knowing that someone like him with the 'same' childhood gives me hope that i can be an international singer as well.

kookiewhore mark doesn't know cantonese. He's from taiwan
