Saw these guys in 95, I think it was. 75 people crowded into a small bar on the Westside of Jacksonville during the winter. I remember waiting in the 28 degree weather waiting for my ride afterwards and I had such a buzz from the show that could've cared less that I was getting hypothermia. Been one of my favorite bands since Faith Hope Love.
Everyone has hit the nail on the head. I've seen every show King's X has played in my area for the past 10 years. It's extremely loyal fans, great music, and a real sense of comradery among the fans that you rarely see. It's as if everyone there is sharing a great secret. We are. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
It's about honoring hard work, dedication, and what they leave for their fans, it's about honoring the fans as well. But above all, it's about recognizing the contribution they have made to Rock n Roll, and their craft.
I was standing about two feet diagonally to whoever filmed this. It was my first time seeing the band, absolutely KILLER. Sounded AMAZING in that room. I hung with Dug later that night at the Dean NAMM Jam during HellYeah's set. Really a genuine human being. That whole trip was a great experience.
Every time Ive seen Kings X starting in 1994 with this album, they always blew me away with the size of the sound. They sound like 5 guys at least with all of the harmonized voices and how insanely tight they are
@MrJihadJesus Bingo! And what a lot of people don't get is how influential they are today, and have always been. I saw them open for the Scorpions, on their Faith Hope and Love tour, and man I was so blown away. They were so amazing.
@mepex COULD NOT have said it better myself. That same buzz when you are at a Rundgren show.. Like...Everyone gets along and theres this feeling of being a part of the energy...and the love...
That's because of the reputation the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has built for themselves. I'm sure that if Kiss was inducted they would change their story. I've seen Kings-X multiple times and even met Doug, they deserve to be recognized among their peers. You have a point of view about the HOF. They deserve to be in based on what I've stated above.
I saw Kings X open for the Scorpions back on their Dogman tour. Man, if you're not inspired by King's X, if you've never heard of them, if you don't like their music, you need to GET YOUR BRAIN CHECKED.
Their manager told Eddy Trunk once that they'd have so many pro musicians asking for free CDs every new album that they couldnt make money ! Tongue in cheek but your fav rock band probably is a huge KX fan.
@mepex +1 i echo your comments i saw em live in florida in 93? opened for Dio OMG what a night, and talk about comraderie Dio fans are just as loyal and have that sense of being part of a happening that is very special, and will never happen again
@xboxdragondude as a musician, i would have to say i would take the loyal fans year after year. although a multi-platinum album would be nice financially, the whole point of playing music is for the love of it and for the fans. if i had to choose King's X career or Bieber's, obviously i would choose KX. but...it must be said that i enjoy all types of music and KX are just one of many incredible bands i enjoy.
It may be a bunch of nonsense but Kings-X should be recognized for their legendary status and influence in music, along with Kiss, Iron Maiden, Journey, Heart..etc. Get Abba and LL Cool Jay out of the hall of fame.
@bloodclaat1976 i just got back from seeing them tonight in manchester england. the ticket cost me £20, i was stood at the bar...and i was still only 30 yards from the stage.brilliant, underrated band but i'm glad theyre not well known. because if my other favourite band...van halen ever tour over here,i'll pay £80 and be seated three f##kin football pitches away.p.s. they were brilliant!!!
@JapaneseMonsters14 i was there for one of those shows in South Florida and it kinda sucked cause KX on did like 5 songs. Seems like Dream Theater played for 5 hours!
goddamn this shit is fucking killer...ive always thought of these guys as being kind of the alice in chains of the prog rock world (even though they sound nothing alike)...you'd never in a million years guess that doug is over 60 years old here
Mike McCready of Pearl Jam has been saying since 1990s that Kings X invented the grunge sound with their dropped D and C tuninings and thick dense harmonics. Beatles crossed with Alice in Chains sounds about right and perfect to me !
Awesome tune.. These guys rock.. Saw them with Satriani and was blown away.. Our band does this tune.. Check it out.. Rock on Kings X Our band is Hollow.. Peace Google: Hollow Dogman
Type in zakk wylde gene simmons golden gods and listen to Father Gene's opinion about the RR hall of fame. maybe you'll understand where I'm coming from. I love King's X. I bought their first album the week it came out. They are in my mind the best band since Led Zeppelin. You're missing the point about what the HOF is really about, if you think it's about who deserves to be in then you obviously aren't going to understand what I mean.
King's x deserves so much more from the music world at large, yet it seems to be a trend that they remain in "cult status" forever...they were that way in 88 when they came out, they were that way throughout their career as tapes gave way to cd's...now online on youtube, other acts get millions of views for shite songs, KX gets HUNDREDS. oh well, the way i see it, it's a greatly kept secret, more for us true fans to enjoy.you wont see a justin bieber war on a KX post...AMEN
KX attracts true musicians and other artist who understand what they have created whereas the majority of society likes the average bland and obvious like McDonalds of music which KX is def not
I know you did. What I meant by that was you kinda proved my point by pointing out the lame ass acts that are in the RRHOF. Just about any self respecting band could give less than a shit whether or not they get in that "hand-me-trophy" hall of fame. King's X doesn't need their worthless validation.

@mepex +1 i echo your comments i saw em live in florida in 93? opened for Dio OMG what a night, and talk about comraderie Dio fans are just as loyal and have that sense of being part of a happening that is very special, and will never happen again
@JapaneseMonsters14 Yes it was pretty wicked, I was there to see Dream Theater and these guys opened the show.. Was awesome..

@couch63 Incredibly enough, he just turned 61.
Yeah that's what every band strives for. To be on the same level as LL Cool J. That's exactly my point.
@Alystr I heard the toured together with Satriani and Dream Theater....that would be so bad ass to see!
real rock
Jimi Hendricks now plays Bass Guitar.
@JapaneseMonsters14 i was there for one of those shows in South Florida and it kinda sucked cause KX on did like 5 songs. Seems like Dream Theater played for 5 hours!

@MrJihadJesus Wow! That's awesome! Kings X deserves being in the RR hall of fame, more than ll cool j, and abba, and all those other crap bands.
I said, GET Abba and LL Cool Jay OUT of the Hall of Fame. It's the ROCK n Roll hall of fame.
Awesome tune.. These guys rock.. Saw them with Satriani and was blown away.. Our band does this tune.. Check it out.. Rock on Kings X Our band is Hollow.. Peace

@MrJihadJesus Nope.
Screw the Hall Of Lame. Kings X is too good for that nonsense.
I know you did. What I meant by that was you kinda proved my point by pointing out the lame ass acts that are in the RRHOF.
