Thank you very much for posting this video. I just bought my first truck(2014 cascadia) I would like to do most of my own maintenance on the truck to save money. Gracias once again.
Great, thanks for sharing. I just purchased a Western Star and didn't see the typical white canister filters like I've seen on the other trucks I've driven.
I like the concept of the drain valve but would worry something even as simple as a plastic bag or something may get caught on it an open it up. If it had a screw plug on it then I'd feel better and that plug would be easier to reach. Good video though. I'm used to changing on my 60 Series and that's a different animal than this for sure. I like the simplicity now.
@Say what Nope it has a spring tension that lock it in place in a notch you got to lift then turn it takes longer for oil to drain from smaller hole. But worth the convenience.
I was worried too. Have had one for 6 years 700k miles later and honestly so glad I did. No dripping or anything. I bought mine at the dealer back then it was 25 bucks
hi good afternoon I just bought rotella t6 synthetic oil for my 09 cascadia dd15. is that okay oil or should I go different can you please tell me which one i can use instead. I saw one of your messages saying that synthetic is too thin. I haven't done the oil change.....
Bro I love your videos they are very detailed. Keep up the good content. 1 question okay I just purchased a 2016 cascadia DD15 . I’ve noticed that whoever had before me has been using regular black oil . My question is would there be a difference or would it be better if I went to fully synthetic? ? Im just curious because I want the longest lasting life and performance out of my truck as possible. And after how much mileage do you prefer too change you’re oil ?? Thank you in advance…..
How much would it cost to do the oil change, oil filter, fuel filter, grease all components, adjust brakes and fifth wheel grease parts alone. labor would be done by myself. I ask because if it's only minor savings I believe I can write it off for tax purposes.
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY thank u so much now I will save money because it’s very easy to change filter and oil change and other stuff thank you so much Where do you buy ur tools please?
i think rotella and delo are about the same, i use both in my truck, i use regular oil, i been told by mechanics that synthetic oil is too thin for dd15
Andy Sibia You want at least synthetic blend. You can use conventional oil, but your engine may not last as long. Full synthetic is supposed to be the best one, but it’s also very expensive.
I changed the oil by my self for the first time, I put 10 gal plus 1 gallon of Lucas, I checked the level but the dip stick doesn’t show anything, I add 2 more gallons I checked again but still dip stick doesn’t show anything, what I’m doing wrong?
Hello I dont see a link for the drain valve can you add it please
Hello i just put the link on the description, you will need to buy the plug and the adapter (1st and & 2nd link)
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY what is the adapter for, isn’t the plug correct size?
Is there click more
Do you put oil in the new oil filter before starting up the engine?
I had mine drom ebay!
Finally someone with common sense. Thanks bro

It locks in place.. you need pressure pluss too move it before you can drain it.

Don't you need a priming pump to prime it after changing the oil, some say need and others say don't
Thank you kindly for making this video very helpful

Dd15 take 12 gallons, make sure you're putting the dip stick all the way in, and is the drain plug back on place
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY I did double check everything dip stick all the way in, I don’t know what to do now
Drain the oil make sure is there, some places are selling empty bottles due to oil shortage
