    WOW... This is not only a demo neither a jamsession... This is an entire high quality studio-concert.

    This was the final nail in the coffin for me. I’m getting this synth. It’s just too gorgeous sounding! Fantastic sounds and playing.

      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think it's the most unique sounding synth I own. It's also incredibly powerful, I think some people have missed that. I've been making almost complete tracks within single patches today. 24 voices over 4 Parts with 4 different Sequencer tracks, including Sequenced parameter changes AND 2xFX per Part is proving to be a lot of fun!

      is this really what emerged just like that, just a couple of hours after unboxing? Both the synth and you performance are bang on.Really really... beautiful, for lack of a superlative @@stateazure

      Yes! I think it really helped that the 3rd Wave has a lot of very useable and inspiring presets. Glad you enjoyed this!@@rectorsulk

    I already own an iridium keyboard. I really couldn’t see the need for such an expensive instrument. Now I’m really considering the expense. Once you consider it’s multitimbral, 24 voice architecture, it’s way more of a solid investment. It just sounds so modern! I hope groove synthesis sells a ton of these! I want this company to continue evolving

    I had such a crush on the PPG Wave keyboards back in the 1980s, when they were way, waaay above my price range. Lovely work, SA, you've proved that I'm still smitten. :)

      At the time, I didn't know about the PPG, but I knew I loved those sounds I kept hearing, especially all over TD's White Eagle, which was my favourite album for a really long time. This is a super modern take on the PPG (actually 4 PPGs) but also goes way beyond that, although you can disable the 3rd oscillator and other functions to get a true authentic PPG sound, or a mix of that and the more modern stuff in a single patch.

    so when you have a hardware synth, does it connect to your computer via MIDI or USB? And does the DAW see it as midi notes, or is it recording it as a waveform?

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the synth, sometimes I use MIDI/Din for others I might use USB. 3rd Wave seems to work fine over USB so far, so yeah my DAW can record the MIDI notes no problem.

    • @jeremysmith9696
      @jeremysmith9696 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stateazure When it records the midi, then the DAW is going to use its own software for the sound, so the synthesizer becomes just a midi controller, or does the synth's sound also get captured while the midi is being captured? Thanks for answering these. I'm a musician with a few albums out, but I only have KB's that aren't synths per se.

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jeremysmith9696 The MIDI over USB is working both ways, so if I record the MIDI notes in the DAW, it will send those notes back to the synth for playback, at which point I could record the audio too, or not...It depends. Sometimes I do, sometimes not until I'm totally happy with the notes and if the track is going to be actually completed and released in the future, then I'll record the audio and keep the MIDI notes just in case I need them again in future. This isn't my usual setup at my main desk though. Mostly I use a Native Instruments S88 there, so that's just used as a controller. This synth is new, so I swapped it over for now just to focus on this synth temporarily, but the S88 has already returned.

    There are synths....and there are exotics. :-) But I already have an XTK 30 voice, a Q Phoenix 32-voice, a Kyra, a Virus TI, 3x JD990, a Matrix 12 and many more (18 synths in total). So it's simple. My wife will KILL me if I buy one more synth. She's already waiting 10 years for a new kitchen you see... LOL ( but I need the 3rd Wave, as well as the Deckard, and also the C15 and and and ...)

    State, your hard is great, but you didn`t hold the ritm. There is 4\4, 3\4 ,6\8 and etc. If you jump from one ritm to another there is sounds too hard. Sturtzer holds ritm much better, than you. But you are also great, i always listen you, just try to hold ritm. Thanks for your music.

    It sounds like a Waldorf .

    • @2ammusik
      @2ammusik ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds a lot better to me. Waldorf (at times) can sound very thin and cold. Sometimes scratchy. This sounds warm and full, very musical. I sometimes feel like Waldorf is for making non musical sounds. Sure, it has keys so you can play actual music, but it’s filters can give off this stale, bland sound. Idk how to describe it. Modal 002 almost did it for me but the way it’s outputs were setup turned me away from it. This (3rd Wave) is how it’s done.

    • @jamesstevens2362
      @jamesstevens2362 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does!
      It really is like a part of the PPG’s family tree.
      I know Groove Synthesis have included the original PPG wavetables, but it’s got some exact reproductions of PPG patches, so I’m guessing it’s also using the PPG/Waldorf filters.
      It’s certainly got a PPG’s price tag. 😱💰💰💰

    • @stateazure
      @stateazure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jamesstevens2362 You can disable a bunch of the more modern features, and disable the 3rd oscillator to do an authentic gritty emulation of an actual PPG if you like!

COOL , hope that now that this nice one is finally out you will achieve your goals . Now everybody who purchased a waldorf , should be a bit sorry ..no ? No good . So , how come that any Q or micro Q or microwave are still sold at high proce tags on ebay ? Mistery . Not for the sound , for sure. Maybe the colour scheme ?????

    • @paulmapp8306

      @@jamesstevens2362 nope. Its got a digital VSF, and the 24db filters from the Prophet 5/10 (24 of them). It doesnt really sound like a waldorf. Not tried th eM, but I have the 3W under an Iridium and there different takes on the same kind of thing (wavetable and VA obviously - not the FM/Samplonig/Granular stuff)
