I’m looking for updates on an 8 year old Boeing made satellite that made news a week ago for suddenly blowing up catastrophically. What is on a satellite that might cause this? Or was it hit, by something??? Brief news reports don’t even say if it was in low earth orbit, geo synchronous / geo stationary orbits, or something in between.

I love how the first application of any new technology we invent is to see how we can use it against each other. You’d think after the first three millennia, definitely by the four thousandth year, we would wisen up and realize the path we’re on only ends one way. Nope. Here we are, going on five thousand plus years now, and we’re still using our greatest minds and basically half of humanity’s potential and effort, to figure out the best ways to blast metal through each other. Think of how far humanity would have gone if we just stopped killing each other a thousand years ago. We definitely would have colonized multiple planets and moons in our solar system, maybe farther. Now think about where we’ll be a thousand years from today. I honestly don’t know if we make it that long. Since we don’t seem to want to do anything about the whole killing each other thing, somebody will end up using something way worse than a nuke. Kids will be blowing up schools with nukes by then instead of AK’s and we still wouldn’t ban them.
There is only one picture because it's nothing special like an alien satellite. It is a piece of insulation from one of the many US space missions (I can't remember which and I'm not looking it up). There is even a video on TH-cam showing exactly what it is and how it came to be in orbit. People ignore this video in favor of the "story".
its a space blanket. the astronauts dropped it while building the space station and even were recorded joking about losing it. the internet has really run away with this one but the truth is way more boring then what conspiracy people think up.
