i'm 100% convinced that leaks nowadays are just a trick used from big companies to just "check people reaction" and stay safe before launching something, so we should take those in a very different ways than we did before. yeah, there are a lot of idiots that just love spreading fake stuff or just want to get clicks to make easy money from ads or something like that, but i don't think that there are that much interns that risk their job to "let people know in advance", maybe a few ones, but not that much like we're seeing in the last years, during game\console developments.
No, I don't think so. The people who actually pay attention to leaks/rumours are a very small percentage of PlayStation users, who happen to be much more fanatical about videogames. Most of the potential market are probably only vaguely aware of PS5's existence at this point. So the reaction to leaks/rumours wouldn't be a very reliable metric.

I never realised how much sony played microsoft. They 100% werent going to support used games and once they realised xbox wernt either and the public reacted so badly the deffo chose to support used games. That probably won them the whole generation.

Sony was quick to change that. Practically everything Sony showed after MS was done in reaction to say they are better (when they would actually have been the same).
Sony waited for Microsoft to reveal and seen the backlash from consumers and adjusted, It could have just as easily backfired by letting the competition go first and then be seen as copying them if it was something the consumers wanted.

99% PS5 will have a modded rx 5700 xt of amd with ray tracing, or a 5800 xt, that hasnt been anounced yet but amd ceo hint something about it and a 7nm amd cpu with 8 cores 16 threads, probably what today we call the ryzen 7 3700x, but could be a 4700x, that hasnt come out to the market but i think that the ps5 will have a 3700x. I've read other stuff that suggests that the PS4 was indeed much worse than the Xbox One and a lot of the PS4 that ended up shipping came together quite late. Even the whole online-DRM thing. Sony 100% were going to do the same thing as MS but with Microsoft going 1 day ahead of Sony, they quickly reversed course. That's where the infamous sharing games video came from. They were in their hotels, thinking of how to get the point across and they just film it on their phone and then announced they were $100 cheaper. It was the perfect 1-2 punch that really won them this generation. This whole generation could've played out differently if MS went on stage at E3 second.

PS5 is the new PS3. Backwards compatibility and tons of new features like the PS3 had. I hope that new apu based on ryzen architecture runs great, and hope a better cooling system as well.

@@ripob6419 That 40 cu navi leak makes a ton of sense. because Sony was planning on launching ps5 in 2019 originally. So that means the ps5 will probably end up being cheaper than the xbox series x and come with a weaker gpu. Does that mean ps5 will be bad? No, because it will still play games at 4k 60hz no problem. Hardware is only part of what sells the console, Sony will most likely have more features than the Xbox as well.

Choosing PS was a great choice, but what I wonder is, what made you get a PS instead of an Xbox, when it was time to make the decision? (coming from a PS guy, I've had them all since PS1, unfortunately not the PS4 though :/ )
I went with the PS2 because I was pretty young and didn’t really care about Halo. Plus, since the controller was smaller it fit into my hands better (I did eventually get an OG Xbox when I was much older. The next generation (after not having a new console for a LONG time), I went with Xbox 360. I went with Xbox 360 because a ton of my friends were on the console, I really enjoyed Halo at the time, I loved the controller, and I loved the online community! My cousin had a PS3, and I just really hated everything about it (no offense whatsoever to PS3 fans, btw). The controller just felt outdated, the online was awful, and it just didn’t really have the games that I liked. Also as a result of being difficult to develop for, the 3rd party games ended up looking a lot worse on PS3. In the current generation, I decided to go with PS4. My main reasoning behind this is that the Xbox One was noticeably underpowered compared to the PS4 (720p vs 1080p), the UI was really bad at the start, forced bundle with Kinect, and Microsoft’s bad DRM policies. This was Microsoft being anti-consumer, and it was a far cry from the Xbox that I knew. I made the switch, and enjoyed a lot of great PS4 exclusives! Next generation, I’m not sure whether I will get the PS5 or Xbox Series X. The only reason I got the PS4 was because Xbox One was so awful. Xbox 360 was my favorite console of all time, so if Xbox Series X can get back to that greatness, I will gladly hop on the Xbox train! To summarize, I would say I slightly prefer Xbox because I like the controller better, I enjoy Halo, and I love the online community! If you’re really into online multiplayer, Xbox is probably the best choice in my opinion! P.S. I do have an Xbox One X currently, and I love it! P.P.S. Sorry about the wall of text. I’m sure you didn’t want to read all of that (and I don’t blame you, because neither do I) 😂
Yeah, by the end most of the information turned out to be more or less correct. Mind you, early on there was a ton of stuff that turned out to be plain wrong but as time moved on the information became more solid. This time around though, well the situation is weird now. Namely, because we seem to have two different sets of leaks coming from different parts of the internet. On one hand, we have the PC tech enthusiasts who are getting information by looking at device IDs and extrapolating. On the other, we have traditional sources like NeoGaf, ResetEra, Past-bin, journalists, etc. Each of these sides is saying something different this time, and both sides seem to legitimately believe it. Which kinda leaves all of us in the middle confused and frustrated! XD
PS4 was the first system no one had to stand in line to buy. I pre-ordered mine a month in advance and it showed up at my door the day of release. If the Coronavirus doesn't delay the production of the PS5, I'll do the same.

I've been with Playstation all my life (Born in 1996). The PS1-3 I was too young to pay attention to rumours. Back with the PS4 I didn't pay too much attention, mostly cause I knew there was no way I was getting one at launch.

@Stealphie Many of the tidbits (from websites/that one gamingbolt) had many devs mention the ease of development on PS5/next gen.
Unfortunately, most gamers just remember Sony's fumbles with the ps3 in its early years rather than the good things it did. I don't think Sony will repeat their mistakes with the ps3, but it would be nice if they took the good things about that console.
PS3 didn't have alot of features. I think PS4 and even an xbox 360 had more features than that thing

I remember this rumor. I heard In 2009 by one of my friends. He told me Sony was pulling out of the hardware business it was a very good rumor some people were believing it. I'm happy PlayStation 3 turned around and saved the PlayStation brand.

@@redrum5053 Ehh, most of the specs have already been leaked. It's just the finer details we are waiting for right now. That pastebin leak he talked about in the video was leaked 2 years before ps4 launch, that is about the right time frame for when Sony and Microsoft configure their hardware specs. We are like.... 7~8 months away from ps5 launch right now, so most of the leaks on the internet right now are going to be really close to final product.

@@ripob6419 That 40 cu navi leak makes a ton of sense. because Sony was planning on launching ps5 in 2019 originally. So that means the ps5 will probably end up being cheaper than the xbox series x and come with a weaker gpu.
Does that mean ps5 will be bad? No, because it will still play games at 4k 60hz no problem. Hardware is only part of what sells the console, Sony will most likely have more features than the Xbox as well.

The executive team at PlayStation at the time of the PS4 launch was awesome. House, Trenton, Boyles, Yoshida, and Cerny. That was an all-star group. Let’s hope the current team can carry the same momentum.
with Sony's track record, i see them killing off support for the ps3 when the ps5 comes out. it's a shame to because the ps3 still has a giant following.

That's the rumor, the ps5 will support all games from every gen, I would love that to be true so I can buy a ps5, as my PS3 broke and pre owned PS3 consoles in my country UK have been through hell and nasty as hell, so I would rather buy a ps5 and play PS3 games that I have yet to play and want to play

Choosing PS was a great choice, but what I wonder is, what made you get a PS instead of an Xbox, when it was time to make the decision? (coming from a PS guy, I've had them all since PS1, unfortunately not the PS4 though :/ )

I always played on PS after switching from SNES. My cousin had a Xbox and switched to a PS3 then PS4. He can't wait for the PS5 to come out.
I went with the PS2 because I was pretty young and didn’t really care about Halo. Plus, since the controller was smaller it fit into my hands better (I did eventually get an OG Xbox when I was much older.
The next generation (after not having a new console for a LONG time), I went with Xbox 360. I went with Xbox 360 because a ton of my friends were on the console, I really enjoyed Halo at the time, I loved the controller, and I loved the online community! My cousin had a PS3, and I just really hated everything about it (no offense whatsoever to PS3 fans, btw). The controller just felt outdated, the online was awful, and it just didn’t really have the games that I liked. Also as a result of being difficult to develop for, the 3rd party games ended up looking a lot worse on PS3.
In the current generation, I decided to go with PS4. My main reasoning behind this is that the Xbox One was noticeably underpowered compared to the PS4 (720p vs 1080p), the UI was really bad at the start, forced bundle with Kinect, and Microsoft’s bad DRM policies. This was Microsoft being anti-consumer, and it was a far cry from the Xbox that I knew. I made the switch, and enjoyed a lot of great PS4 exclusives!
Next generation, I’m not sure whether I will get the PS5 or Xbox Series X. The only reason I got the PS4 was because Xbox One was so awful. Xbox 360 was my favorite console of all time, so if Xbox Series X can get back to that greatness, I will gladly hop on the Xbox train!
To summarize, I would say I slightly prefer Xbox because I like the controller better, I enjoy Halo, and I love the online community! If you’re really into online multiplayer, Xbox is probably the best choice in my opinion!
P.S. I do have an Xbox One X currently, and I love it!

Yeah, by the end most of the information turned out to be more or less correct. Mind you, early on there was a ton of stuff that turned out to be plain wrong but as time moved on the information became more solid. This time around though, well the situation is weird now. Namely, because we seem to have two different sets of leaks coming from different parts of the internet. On one hand, we have the PC tech enthusiasts who are getting information by looking at device IDs and extrapolating. On the other, we have traditional sources like NeoGaf, ResetEra, Past-bin, journalists, etc. Each of these sides is saying something different this time, and both sides seem to legitimately believe it.
Which kinda leaves all of us in the middle confused and frustrated! XD
PS4 was the first system no one had to stand in line to buy. I pre-ordered mine a month in advance and it showed up at my door the day of release. If the Coronavirus doesn't delay the production of the PS5, I'll do the same.

Didn't you make a video regarding PS4 rumors? It was way back 2012 iirc. I remember it being named "Orbis", and man. I'm just amazed at how long we've gone. It felt like yesterday when we were just looking forward to PS3 Slim; I was just a kid back then, and now here we are with the PS5.

I've been with Playstation all my life (Born in 1996). The PS1-3 I was too young to pay attention to rumours. Back with the PS4 I didn't pay too much attention, mostly cause I knew there was no way I was getting one at launch.

I would love to see a video about Mark Cerny, the guy carved out the now infamous PS4 and clearly has a massive influence on the PS5. He has been working quietly and I never actually see spotlights on him or his work, I think a video on this guy would be really interesting and I'm sure a few people would watch it.
I think the reason the PS4 has been such a juggernaut is because he has been at the helmet, and I am waiting with antici.........pation on his next wired article or press event.
