@@ManofOneGod Did you see what he did to Garry Tonon, another high level grappler? Out cold too. He just has a knack for finishing one dimensional grapplers, that's not luck lol. Point huggers don't do well against the elites of ONE fc unfortunately especially not with knees to the head allowed there.

I've seen Thanh Le done that before too. That's how you counter a grappler coming towards you with his head first.

The double leg is my most effective move in my jiu jitsu class. But for self defense purposes I think I’ll start doing it less because the knee to the face is super easy for anyone to do.

In tae kwon do, front kick, side kick, roundhouse kick, and axe kick all start with knee forward to the front of you.

I always wonder why more people don't use the knee to defend the double or single leg take down. It's intense KO for anyone shooting the legs to take a knee to the face. Good job Le for capitalizing on his opponents tendency to shoot the take down.
It’s hard to time it right I guess, especially when they set up the takedown with a quick jab first or a one two or just feigning either
@@Charlton2010 that's why you throw the knees to the body and use flying knees to deter take down attempts. I see alot of wrestlers with poor striking win in onfc because alot of their opponents don't defend the take downs well. Summary is [If your ground game is poor. Throw knees.]
well in mma most people dont shoot in without a setup of some sort. you could do that all day if the guy tried to double leg you from a distance
Thanh Le just managed to survive in the first round. Even though Thanh won the match, he needs to concentrate more on grappling as his weakness in this area was fully exposed.
Sure, he has to work on his grappling and that's not surprising as he has a striking background. But you make it sound as if "surviving" (you could also say defending) on the ground against a grappler like Saadulaev isn't a thing 😅 give this man some credit. He did a great job and was looking better on the ground then Saadulaev was in stand up.

Stand ups and be very effective against grapplers. You just need to do what Thanh Le just did.

at around 5:55 to 5:59 with playback speed of 0.25x, Le threw the kick prior to the takedown attempt of Saadulaev. It wasn't a knee intended to defend a takedown. Try to watch it at 0.25x

Yes it looks like he was about to throw a kick, even though it landed as a perfect knee strike that also could just have extended to look like a kick due to the force generated in the rotation. Some fighters also are able to adjust strikes while throwing in a splitsecond. You cannot say 100% it wasn't timed. Maybe he figured out his opponents timing and knew he will shoot. Or maybe there was something his opponent did, what signaled him that he's about to shoot. I couldn't see it but being in a fight you're able to see even little things and recognize patterns that spectators aren't capable of seeing.

All fighters should be practicing this knees relentlessly - I haven’t seen any answer to Russian or Dagestan wrestling so far so this is the only way really or be very Lethal at striking for the little time they get on their fit. This should get to the point where all wrestler should fear this knees then the game will level

Big coulda, shoulda moment here. Some fighters are just too predictable. I think Yusup retired two years ago after getting knocked out again. I don't see a rematch going any differently between these two unless Thanh is like 40 and completely out of his prime.
