There was a band a few years ago called Pentecostal Bouffant. I see now where they got the name! That is one of the most dynamic hairdos I've ever seen!
They didn't get their name from Vestal. Many evangelicals especially pentecostals like my family wore wigs like this. This style is called the Beehive. It wasn't just evangelical women. The Ronnettes wore wigs. Many Many women.
Joe Smith, The Goodmans were actually Church of God, which is one of the main Pentecostal denominations. Vestal stopped practicing the holiness standards along with the rest of the Church of Gods in the 80s.
Does anybody here know the story about Johnny Cash in the old dark theater with the Goodmans for playing a drunken Johnny Cash came in crawling along the wall because he couldn’t walk, and Vestal went to him
Love this song. Really appreciate hearing the raw talent in this live version. Jack Smith on steel, Eddie Crook on piano. Clearly Ricky Goodman on drums, although he's not on camera. I'll have to hear it on the K240's to tell if it's Jim Dumas or Dad on bass...
@kidgreenville ~the guy on the steel is "Jack Smith" . He WAS married to Vestal & Howard's daughter (Vickie). No longer playing the steel. Lately he's been on Nancy Grace, etc with the missing "Baby Gabriel". They live in Phoenix, AZ. He was one of the greatest Steel pickers EVER!
I wish vestal had helped her beehive hairdo! ! It looked better then the way she changed it!! The beeline complimented her looks more! And she wore it well!!! She messed up changing it!!!!
praise the lord brother jackson i am old scholl way yes holiness is onlay way i love women with big hair yes i am not triany i be babptised in jesus name
I believe in babtizing in his name but in the correct way but in the name of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ not in Jesus name. They name children in Mexico Jesus .(Father=Lord (Jesus=(Son=(Christ) the Annointed One.3 Attributes one God.Amen?

Look at all the people interested in her hair! Of course it's a wig. Many many women wore wigs in 50s-70s. My grandmother was pianist for her pentecostal trio and they all wore these. This particular style is called the beehive. I'm always so surprised by what people don't know.
I look back at the old stuff and see that they held a standard, then not many years later they abanded the standard, it had been better not to have ever held the standard than to cause confusion by holding to one but then abandoning it. where I assemble myself, some hold the old standard, and some don't. so which is it, was the old standard right or was it wrong?
If you have ever studied the Goodmans or read Vestal's Biography..... She NEVER had Long hair..... She wore a wig on top of her real hair.... "Appearances aren't always what they seem"...... God could Care Less about your hair......
If you don't know who Jesus was then it wouldn't make a difference any way but if you read your Bible and study what Paul the Opostle wrote then you have a difference in your beliefs.Yes with God there is a difference. No offense my friend but read 2nd Tim.2:15 look at the women today in our society how perverted they look plus the men. Never in the History of the world has any of this happened but now it does.Since the early 1900`s is when it started.
My mother used to wear those wigs ,those were the good ol days :-)
This music makes me want to run the aisles in a " Church of God " church. Praise the LORD !!
Yes HOLINESS is the way Jesus said I am the way the Truth and the Life
I remember those days when my mom and many of the women in the church wore their hair in a beehive hair style.

Seriously? Thats a cheap wig.
@@lindseywalker6925exactly. Vestal admitted it in her autobiography.
Be Nice🙄

Ole Howard got so big from eating so much fried chicken in crisco!
And Vestal had to stay big to tote that 65 lb. beehive on top of her head!! 😂❤😂
Amen
There will never be another Vestal Goodman! Elvis Presley would be the first to tell you. He loved her!
Yes Elvis adored Vestal, the same way George Jones and Brad Paisley did!

Is that Marge Simpson with the beehive?
Her hair is the most absurd thing I've ever seen
that's Howard and Vestal's son
Vestal looks like she is wearing gold tin foil

That gown looks beautiful on Vestal 💛
The joy on her face at 00:22 is amazing! I love this song. It is so simple yet so catchy with an amazing message.
Please, could Someone write the letter of this song in English
Yes, the Hemphills did this song; in fact, I believe Joel wrote this one. A great trio here and excellent piano work by Eddie.
I wish vestal had helped her beehive hairdo! ! It looked better then the way she changed it!! The beeline complimented her looks more! And she wore it well!!! She messed up changing it!!!!
Thank you for judging.

Looks like Brother Howard is missing on this song, anybody know why,i'm sure he sang on other numbers on this program.
@TheLizardKing1967 I think God would prefer it made you want to go wittness but I understand and enjoy this old music a lot too!
i was wondering does any one know what the guy name was playing the still guitar in the back ?? could his last name be
Edwards??
I remember watching this program on Sunday mornings before heading out to church.
Jesus is the only way, when you find him you find the Best way!

@@kerryfiguried4916 "Opostle" ... LOL!!! You're not too bright are you?
This is not unique. Many evangelical women of the period wore these sorts of wigs including my grandmother's gospel trio.
God couldn't* care less.
I remember watching this show every Sunday, it brings back so any memories.
