Story: Cain was nervous to see Abel after so long. He knows he messed up and he wants to make up for it. If that means enduring a trial for his crime, so be it. After 10k years, he knew things were bound to change but that didn't prevent the shock of seeing how different Abel was now. This wasn't the lanky, innocent kid he used to know, he was the polar opposite now. And the absolute disrespect being shown to Dad crossed the line, decorum in the courtroom be damned, it was about time someone called out Abel’s jerk attitude.
Seth’s presence didn't make things easier either. Born as the successor to Abel and the common ancestor of humanity, Seth models his beliefs after his older brother’s ideals and he holds his descendants to a strict, high standard of righteousness. If they fall into unrighteous sin the way Cain did, then they deserve the slaughter. His love for his kids is not unconditional the way Adam’s is. While Seth respects Adam, he follows Abel’s lead and focuses on spending time with the descendants that were virtuous. Cain barely knows Seth while Seth hates Cain.
Adam is caught in the middle of all of this courtroom chaos. He has to deal with appealing to the Elders to stop Extermination Day, trying to keep the peace between his sons, and the last thing he expected was Lute being a blushing mess? Unbeknownst to Adam, Lute was keeping a big secret…but so was Cain.
Before Sera dragged him up to Heaven, Cain was wandering as usual until an Exorcist appeared on Earth using an Asmodean Crystal. Thinking this angel was a demon sent by Lucifer to drag him back to Hell, Cain ran but not before the angel swung at his neck. She wanted to win Abel’s love by killing Cain. Angelic steel can't kill angels so she thought it was a loophole, that the steel would be enough to kill Cain without risking her safety. No sinner was immune to a holy weapon but the Mark of Cain is an extremely powerful curse bestowed by God, whatever tries to hurt Cain receives the wound 7x harder. The attack ricocheted, Cain was left uninjured (but shaken) while the angel was killed in the blowback.
Using the crystal, Cain quickly dumped her body in Hell and closed the portal. He never saw that it was Extermination Day. It wasn't until after arriving in Heaven did Cain find out what the Exorcists were. He knew it wasn't entirely his fault but this angel death was the last thing he needed. He didn't want to be labeled a murderer again, he was scared that hurting one of Abel’s angels would further ruin his chances at reconciliation and he didn't want the death to accidentally sabotage putting the exterminations to an end. His dad has worked so hard for this moment, he could not let him down. So he lied.
The commotion in the courtroom was expected but Sera had enough and called for a recess. The sons of Adam were more of a headache than she realized.

One of the weak points of Hazbin Hotel was the Angelic Steel story. How could that be what kills an angel and no one knew? Don't they train with these weapons? According to leaked scripts, they do. And they left weapons behind for any demon to take? This is something that I see a lot of debate online and to me, they try too hard to come up with an explanation only to realize “... that's just a plot hole”. Here, Cain’s mark being powerful enough to kill an angel at least makes sense given the details of the curse according to biblical canon. It was designed by the Big G himself, no one is surviving that power. This is important because it's setting up what the final battle looks like, in which the Redemptionists fight back with weapons imbued with Cain’s blood/essence. An Exorcist tries to hit your shield? Might as well be like hitting Cain himself therefore, the angel gets the hit.

People kept asking me about Seth and y’all, I never forgot about him. I just needed more time to flesh him out. Originally, he was more happy go lucky and Respectless was meant to be a joke animatic where Eve was unleashing the belt on Abel for how he acted towards Adam. Part of the reason Seth is so uptight is because of the responsibility he had to bear following Adam’s death: being the next patriarch of the family. And that happened when he was a young adult which was a formative experience, having to keep everything running. That, and I wanted to create a parallel between him and Adam: not all parents have the same parenting style.
+Abel knows that Cain is cursed which is why he never once risked inflicting any kind of damage onto him. Everyone knows that Cain is cursed by God so it goes without saying ‘don’t bother going after him, direct that rage onto sinners in Hell’. Besides, angels can't just go to Earth without special approval. But what happened with the Exorcist was that she got too much into her fantasy about being the next Lute that the reality of how powerful the curse faded from her mind. She took matters into her own hands when she should have left it alone. She was so reckless that she went as far as breaking the rules about visiting Earth, thinking it would be a quick side mission that no one would notice since it was Extermination Day.
+Abel does want to kill Cain and has tried to think of ways to remove the Mark but to no avail. Cain getting exterminated is the Holy Grail for him.
+Seth gets a lil eye twitch whenever he is reminded that his descendant, Noah, married Naamah, who is descended from Cain. It's a big ‘come on kid, why her??’ facepalm type moment. He treats her with decorum because she herself did nothing wrong but this AU is called Sins of the Father for a reason.
+The angel's death was kept a secret from everyone else. The Exorcists could be secretive depending on their agenda. To avoid chaos, they privately launched their own investigation on what happened but the results were inconclusive. Cain returning caused Abel to suspect that he must have been involved, the timing felt suspect. It wasn't until the trial that the incident was brought to light. It was the Exorcists’ way of trying to get a guilty verdict.
+Of course, Sera was angry such a thing was kept a secret from the Elders but even more so, was freaked out by the revelation as the angel’s death was the first of its kind
+Cain has his own crystal that he keeps just in case, even though he doesn't want to go back to Hell. Lucifer has no intention of dragging him back to Hell, despite what Cain thinks. All that mattered to him was causing more pain towards Adam. Lilith wants Cain back but was overruled by Lucifer. If Cain fights back if they tried anything, then they would suffer the blowback due to the curse. It isn't worth it so no demon is to go near him. Charlie sides more with her dad than her mom so whatever Lucifer decides is what she listens to more.
+The only reason Awan, Cain’s bride, was allowed to go after him on Earth was because she was just an experiment to Lucifer so he was fine with throwing her out of Hell to cause Cain a little grief. She was annoying anyway. (If you follow my socials, you know who this is)
+An Asmodean Crystal can track another crystal down. It's how the Exorcist found Cain.

The idea is more pleading with the elders of Heaven to do something, anything, about Cain. As he knows he can't kill Cain.
I do wonder how Abel is going to convince God to take off the curse, because I'm sure God knew that "...nah that was your Angel thinking she was above my curse lol, he didn't kill her, she killed herself with that move."

No, this is more of a detect and counter move combo that God has on 24/7 for Cain.

The fun fact is: he doesn't need glasses. He wears them for aesthetic reasons. I'm debating on whether it's either him wearing frames with no lenses or he is wearing sunglasses indoors. Either way, it's just him trying to look sophisticated.

Cain has to prove to his brother he never wanted to kill him, but he also has to face the fact he was resentful and jealous and that influence or not, he couldn't stop himself from clobbing his brother's head in... So that's going to be... Fun.
Cains curse works in a few ways.
1) He is unable to harm anyone
2) Any damage done to him is reflected back onto the one who struck him instead
So I think Cain developed a defensive fighting style using his sickles where he catches an opponents weapon to deflect or disarm them before he captures them without harming them.
What a cool way to fix the plothole in Hazbin Hotel by making Cain's curse the key to killing an Angel. I mean in the show Angelic Steel is the weakness for Angels however it makes no sense on why the angels or rather exorcists would be so careless enough to leave it behind if they knew that this metal was the key to killing them. So yeah changing the weakness of Angels to Cain's Blood based on the curse God gave him is a better way to fix the glaring flaw.
I mean, I don't think even the exorcists knew about their weakness, to be honest. They're used to being invincible, are high-tier in a religious doctrine, and hold a vision of perfection. Not only does the former encourage complacency, but the latter two could have the angels break down if even a thought of them being killable came up.
It's not really a flaw. The exorcists want demons dead but by their deal can only go down once a year so they intentionally leave their weapons allowing the demons to kill each other.
And they clearly didn't know about their own weakness to the metal since even Adam was shocked during the finale battle. As for why no one knew the truth, it's simply due to no one bothering to try. Angels were believed to be invincible so everyone just ran from them instead of trying to fight.
Regardless, I do prefer Cain's curse being the way.
@@jasonsmith6219 honestly I just think angel steel being the weakness for angels is flawed cause they are angels it should have been a angel can only be killed by an angel of equal or higher rank, and this makes sense with cains curse being a way because his curse was given to him by the big G who is higher than all angels in rank
I think the show meant that the Exorcists were so arrogant, so sure of their righteousness in Heaven that they never realized that they were just as vulnerable to their own weapons as sinners were. I'm sure they never turned their weapons on each other to permanently kill another one (yes, Lute did to Vaggie but it was to maim, not kill, she left her there alive after all.)
Basically, classic hubris and karma.
Now we need 50 thousand bucks to make a full series.

My goodness! The story of this AU is more interesting and captivating than that of the original. Amazing!
You said that in this AU, Abel died prematurely at the age of 20, becoming immortal in the afterlife with the mental, psychological and biological capacity of a 20-year-old. So the character being at that age greatly changes the perception and emotional impact of the story of Cain and Abel, since Cain, being the older brother, was supposed to care for and support his younger brother instead of giving in to the irrationality of envy and resentment, which underlines the depth of the cruelty of Cain's transgression. All in all, a interesting story.
Note: Although it's clear from the original story that Cain and Abel were both adults siblings when this tragedy of history happened, it's not that Adam and Eve weren't exemplary parents.

I do my best to keep continuity across all my animatics and lore, and this involves adding little details, callbacks, and gags. The lore behind that moment is that this particular exorcist was the one that seethed the hardest when Lute and Abel got romantically exclusive. That level of pettiness just never went away and it reared its head up here.

I love the detail of Emily looking at Sera with a look of satisfaction for a moment before looking back at Able, it really connects the animation to the one before

So, when Adam died (earthly life), Seth was still young, right? What a burden this clearly had on the boy

I have a feeling if Eve ever shows up this will get waaay more complicated for everyone! I expected Abel to attack Cain or attempt to, but he actually created a plan for this trial!
If you ask me Abel has every right to be angry at Cain.
Don't think anyone is denying that. He has the right to his anger but not the right to judgement. All humans are imperfect and as such only the lord can truly judge. But like the fallen exorcists, Abel is going against the lord in pursuit of his own revenge.

She perished because of her own hubris and for her own selfishness because she did it because she wanted Abel's love. Cain was literally just chilling and even ran away from her, she's the one that went after him and tried to kill him.
Be angry at the fact that Cain killed him, sure but that angel's death is literally not Cain's fault, she was on the war path and thought she was above the curse.

I have a theory. I know in the original hazbin hotel, angelic weapons kill angels along with demons, but what if it only kills angels that take pleasure in killing the sinners. We're not supposed to take pleasure in taking a life, so what if the angelic weapons only kill angels who have pleasure in taking the lives of human souls even if they are sinners. The angelic weapons are meant to destroy evil, so what if taking pleasure in such vile acts is considered evil? This is just a theory.

Wait a minute! That's actually really clever! I totally forgot! God marked Cain so that others knew he was protected and no one could harm him! It's the same as SCP-073's anomaly where anything done to him is turned back on the attacker! So, I guess that's where the inspiration was from. It seems like Cain can't be harmed and anyone who attacks him is killed instead. Seems like the Angel wasn't meant to kill Cain, so his protection kicked in and Sera doesn't want this getting out because it could further throw things into chaos.

I just noticed something. All the people who are in favor of rehabilitation (Adam, Cain, Sera, Lute, etc.) are colored in with a light blue, meanwhile, all the people who are against rehabilitation (Abel, Emily, Vaggie, etc.) are colored in a darker blue. Seth, though he appears to be helping Abel, has the same light blue as the people who support rehabilitation. Maybe this means that Seth secretly supports rehabilitation, or he will switch sides in the future.
…Or I could be looking *way* too deep into this.

From the discussion, it makes sense Y Seth is like this, Cain M.I.A with the Morningstars, Able dead his parents devastated from the murder, Seth had 2 raise himself and take care of his family, which explains the chip on his shoulder, so who else 2 blame for the problems and trauma but the murderer I.e. Cain.
For those who are wondering whose Seth?, From what I looked up Seth is third son of Adam and Eve after Cain murder Abel as replacement for the 2 since one was killed and other was condemn for eternity and also ancestor to Noah( one from Noah ark)

Oh, so that Exorcist basically tried to murder Cain out of hubris and got instant karma'd for being so arrogant to think she of all people could circumvent God's curse on him.
Well dang, so it's literally not Cain's fault that the Exorcist died because the dude was literally minding his own business but Abel is still going to blame him for his own Exorcist's mistake, just because he hates his brother. And Seth is literally just a blind follower looking at the description, he just does everything big brother said and doesn't think for himself.
I think that is a big much.

It doesn't matter if Cain intended to kill the Angel or not. In all technicality, he still murdered her.
Being the equivalent of a convicted felon and doing something again, even by accident, is never a good look. From what I know about how American courts work, a judge would look at the records, see we have literally put people in prison for less and then lock him up.
You could argue that is unjust. I would agree. However attempted murder and actual murder are vastly different sentences.
Also we couldn't really count extermination as that is more akin to war. So no convictions possible unless the Exorcists use chemicals. Which they do not, they are pretty midevil about it.
That is part of why I find this fascinating. On all worldly fronts, Adam and the Exorcists are legally okay. Where as on a spiritual side, absolute morality, throwing out mortal laws way, Cain is in the right.

While I’m not for genocide you have to omitted on abel side everyone asking him the first murder victim the first person who felt that terror to live and forgive his murder just because he says he’s sorry doesn’t mean anything unless you show it and you got to admit Adam in this au. Only cares getting his family back to gather without taking the time to heal the scars first of course abel going on the deep end has cain ever omitted he was manipulated into it all I’m saying is redemption take time and effort so does forgiveness Adam and cain need to know that. Cain ask for respect but has he even actually apologized to abel or explain himself

However, I think if Lute tried to convince Abel OR if Vaggie tried to convince Abel (after possibly changing AU Charlie to Adam's side).

To all Hazbin Hotel theory your the only person who make a fan story about Cain and Abel. I mean if you think of it Adam and Eve do indeed have kids after they the forbidden fruit/fruit of knowledge. So I like your idea that Abel hate his brother for what he done to him and his problematic relationship with his father for not showing up.
Heck, I can imagine Abel will lead a greater army against the sinners of hell. He wasn't there because to avenge his father death or stop demon uprising, his there to find his brother Cain and do as same way as he did to him but much worse.

I don't know if anyone asked this, but is there an actual reason why Abel hates Adam in this? Like, I get that he hates his brother after their conversation ended on rocky terms. But what did Adam do exactly to earn his son hate? The belief that all souls are redeemable is harmless at best and easily ignored by anyone important at worst. If there is a reason here that I'm not seeing, I apologise.
Because Adam believes in rehabilitating sinners, but since Kane killed him, he thinks they’re unredeemable since his own father is on his side. He hates him.
Maybe Abel is interpreting Adam’s actions as favoritism towards Cain, that he trivialise Cain’s actions and Abel’s pain.

This was a great animatic! I was wondering though, when Abel was smiling with Lute, was it because he was genuinely happy to see her (because they were in love once, and maybe wanted to get answers on why they broke up), or was it a smirk of possibly exposing her?

I have question why does Cain look like a vampire?
Few reasons:
1. Some traditions have him as the first vampire
2. According to an ancient Jewish text, Eve had a dream that he drank his brother's blood
3. In this AU, he was dragged into Hell by the Morningstars and became a prince and then escaped afterwards but still kept the outfit they gave him because it looked nice. Also the curse only made him look vampiric but he isn't actually a vampire.
