Failing that, I would suggest that they go into partnership with WIlliams.
Williams has be the team I've supported sing Alan Jones drove for them. Williams have fallen to the bottom of the list and we should never have done so. There was a period of poor decisions being made there. After Sir Frank's crash, things started to decline. Patrick Head deferred to Adrian Newey who promptly fuct off to Red Bull.

I don't think the average north americans are enjoying the actual F1 races with all the rules and complicated racing structure. If you look at the Miami or Las Vegas Grand Prix it's more about the pre-race show and celebrity coverage than the actual race. I always felt Michael had unfinished business in Formula 1.
When he came into the sport in 1993, there were a lot of restrictions that made it difficult for a newcomer to the sport. Limitations in testing and time in the car too along with no testing on foreign circuits if my memory serves me, meant that Michael did not know the circuits and came to learn about most of them via notes from his team. Back then the internet did not even exist so he arrived at each circuit not only with no prior experience but the limitations on testing made for him having to learn about the car too. If you consider all which he was up against he did acquit himself well in qualifying and in the early races. In the US he was used to running near on 200mph with other competitors which by instinct was a trait he used in his lightning starts. In F1, you couldn't quite go toe to toe with drivers you didn't know and whose reactions you didn't know. Thus there were the first lap incidents which probably dented his confidence. Essentially the odds were stacked against him. Michael can drive and boy was he fast. He'd already proven that in his racing and the number and manner of his victories so he had all the ingredients. It's just that the sport in 1993 was not an open or level playing field into which a newcomer could excel.
I really hope Michael can get his team into F1. If you consider his achievements as a team owner and the number of disciplines Andretti Autosport is in, you have to say he is an accomplished team owner. One with much more experience than some of the F1 team principals. So indeed, who are they to judge him??!!! Consider too Fernando Alonso's last outing in Indy when McLaren were so woefully unprepared to the extent of not having the equipment ready. You'll never see an Andretti Team conduct themselves in that manner . So once again, yes. Michael can do it. He is a thorough professional. If the other F1 teams are professional and want the sport to grow hence the growth reflecting on them, then they must know that the participation of a professional organisation like Andretti Autosport in F1 can only be a positive thing.

F1 design and budgets are a whole different ballpark, so I very much doubt they are serious about entering. Andretti will likely be ahead of Haas season 1. America needs a real team in F1 and several teams are scared of that. Haas a token American team that won't be a threat isn't a problem for them. Michael deserves a shot he raced in F1 and his father was a champion. The goal post is moving faster than a Ferrari and the bias is a very bad look on the sport. I used to be a fan and attended 8 races now it really is something I put way behind Indycar on my to do list. Andretti might change that.

I have my doubts about potential for a huge more growth in USA to be honest. Because further growth in US would likely need further races in the US. Already we are stretching the F1 calender to the limits to the point of raising lot of concerns in terms of cost and ability of people to be travelling all over the world for half a year.
And unfortunately, most of the other team owners (which are European companies or with middle east money) and their sponsors would not want the races from other locations to be cut either, either in Europe, Middle East, or Asia. Already many hard core fans are not happy with many classical European races not making the cut.
Without more races in USA, I am not sure how F1 could grow a whole lot more in the USA.

An American built car, with an American driver and engine will have an almost inconceivably positive impact on F1 in every possible metric. From increased fan base to the size of the sport it's self not only in the US but world wide. It will be a something very special to see.
The US fan base has increased with new people who are largely more interested in the drama and show but it has decreased with the racing fans that have followed the sport for decades and are interested in the very advanced engineering and who have a depth of knowledge in wheel to wheel racing strategy and race craft.
I really believe that the Andretti team would bring a lot of the latter group back to F1. I know I would be more interested. An Andretti team would definitely rekindle my love of the sport.

Toyota, Audi and Porsche with WEC have struggled with their commitment due to the technical difficulties (with unlimited budgets).
Money for Andretti is not the issue, I agree, but niether Cadillac nor Micheal have ever raced at this level as teams owners.

At this point, there is NO DOUBT that the current teams’ resistance towards Andretti is based on nothing but GREED and FEAR. Especially Red Bull and Mercedes… why would they want to change a thing? They are getting rich while monopolizing (literally) ALL the championships… which is why F1 is so dreadfully boring lately. Lewis wins everything, then Max… there’s no suspense or drama, and if it weren’t for the Netflix show, interest would be tanking. An advertisement for Andretti Autosport but why not. His whole organisation is 1/10 of Williams who were last in F1 last year. He is the size of Haas who only do F1.
A successful racing team but never a race car design and manufacturing outfit. He said its a huge ask not just to build a car but to build one that is competitive and reliable. In the Brazil sprint qualifying yesterday all the teams were within .5sec for the lap.
What is Cadillac doing? Nobody knows? They havent said they are building an engine . They just talk about partnerships. I wish them well but I do think they dont realise the enormity of the task and the money it will cost and the expertise they have to find. Also years of trying to become competitive. I scratch my head on who the American driver might be with 40 Super license points. ahhh Logan you are saved.
