I always liked Tchad’s philosophy of finding a random new device to use all over the record they were about to make. Gives every album its own unique sound, and sometimes you end up with gems like this. Seems like something new that’s actually worth checking out
I use the Korneff Audio Pawnshop Comp on every song I mix for my band. I like using the Korneff Wow Thing and El Juan a lot too. Great Plugs. Love your banter and comedy as well!!!
When I heard the line "six inches or less, twelve inches, eighteen inches or more" I wasn't sure what was coming next. Fortunately it was a review of a great sounding plugin. Fantastic job as always, guys!
The Shure Level-Loc was originally designed for convention speakers who had no knowledge of setting up a P.A. It's a mic Amp and compressor in one. This channel should have MORE traffic!
Bravo!! I got this plugin and wondered ... "What the hell?!!" You guys reinforced my initial conclusion, that I'd have to 'experiment' with it. Great show and I enjoy the new format!! 🙂💙
Great review! I want to like KA stuff but it always falls just a little shy of whatever I'm using as standard. Fun to mess around with but often gets in the way of the working day. I've been using Soundtoys Devil-Loc as a parallel process for my drum bus since time. I'd love to hear a blind test of the ST, KA, TE and Black Lion versions of this. Throw in the original and I bet it would be pretty telling. Great job lads!
The introductory price is $74.99. The full price is 149.99. We don't do a lot of sales and 50% off for us is rare so it right now is the best time to buy it this year.
I will definitely check out The Plan. But maybe instead of cutting out the banter at the start, that I actually enjoy hearing, maybe you can make a chapter marker so that people can just jump to the review if they don't want that? Which, by the way, I wish a lot of podcasts had this feature.
Interesting, just not sure about two little things… a - do I need yet another color box (at that price) - and b - if this show will remain as entertaining without the “nonsense” talk ;) PS: you should link your new channel to your videos!
Kinda feels like All plugins should be $99 and go on sale for $29, some on sale rarely, some regularly, some constantly. And they all need 2-Week demos, no strings attached. Every deviation feels Scammy.
My guess is that the next step in plugin development is that the plugins actually connects to the hardware, like actually switches between the mic/line in's of your interface. Like they "speak" to the daw settings, hardware drivers and interface. A deeper level of coding so to speak. I don't have the slightest idea how this would be possible or not, but it would make sense to develop in this direction IF technical possible.
@@RitualFlip In what vst if I may ask? I don't know if we mean the same thing here. Imagine your vsts can talk to your hardware the way the software for that hardware could. And also apply whatever its doing to that specific channel or whatever it effects.
@@SoftClip_Q Give me an example please mate. The only plugins I know talk to hardware are some manufacturers that made vst's to go with their hardware units, like Arturia Mini Freak, some hardware compressor/reverb brands that only include the plugins when purchasing the hardware.

Wow - great timing boys. Got the email from Korneff the other day about this, and I was hoping you'd review it soon...
The smile on Dan's face when you were discussing distance from mics 🤣

Love this one! Using it on all my new rock songs now. Worth every penny ...
Final Box make every thing Sound bettah!
Black lion audio just made a hardware unit of this.. interesting times
No coincidence. Coordinated effort by everyone involved. Us, Shure, Black Lion.
@@korneffaudio7930What an interesting project to be a part of! Nice work.

So sub to the plan. I love the rambling
So where was the link?
@@peterpeper4837Coming soon...
Hey guy's where is the link to the new channel. Searching the plan takes me to a bunch of random channels
It's coming....Will add it soon. 👍
Speaking of colourful vibe boxes, it would be great to see you review for Audiothing Dials
There's a video demo'ing this on hard vocals and it blew me away. Definitely getting this one - when it's on sale.

soundtoys devil loc?
That was my exact point, although I did not notice you had already stated it when I added mine.
Seems pretty cool, kinda reminds me of the Soundtoys Devil-Loc
Soundtoys do this version devlok so not sure I will get ! Cheers lads
Soundtoys make a plugin called Devilloc Deluxe and, although the layout is different, it sounds like a very similar idea
Next review, Level Loc Corned Beef
What's your thoughts on this compared to the Soundtoys Devil-Loc?
@@d-zone Both great...this is both more able to sound like the actual unit and do more wacky stuff....try the demos....go with the one you prefer. 👍
I haven't checked back, but I assume it was the SoundToys Devil Loc you looked at once before ? This must beat that then. tbh I like the Devil Loc
@@jaylevzi7293 No...was the tone empire Loc Ness...👍
@@StudioLife101 Ah right, be a shout to A/B this n the devil loc :) I didn't know about the Tone Empire one.
I don't see the link for the plan...

"6 inches or less" sounds about right 👍
I cant find the link to the new channel....

Just out of curiosity, i wonder if this is what soundtoys devil loc is modelled after?
Yes..👍

Im more inclined to soend 500 for the black lion hardware than 75 for the plugin
I like that accent: “it makes everything sounds BE-A”. I’m calling the police, someone stole your T-s
Black Lion Audio is now making a hardware level-loc for $499... so a real one for only a bit more than the plugin?
Hmmm...we'll try and get one...👍
How does it compare to loc-ness?
Way better...👍
@@StudioLife101 oh, you're tempting me, you guys. I'm gonna have to get the demo! Thanks

Does anyone else play the Is it Shit? VintageWarmer drinking game? Take shot every time the guys mention VintageWarmer...
It's a classic that is rarely beaten...👍 😂
Too expensive

Not sure if this is what you're talking about but check out UADs Unison Tech and McDSP's APB. Pretty nifty stuff.
Still, I do not see the point to pay more than 29 dollars for a plugin. Just not worth it.
i like the crap talk!
You know full well that's overpriced!
Not if you try to buy a hardware unit! 👍
