The bells on these grade crossing gates remain in chime even after they are down, and continue until they are going up. That is unusual in my experience. Also, many now have electronically-simulated bells in place of actual gongs with strikers. Remember, too when gated were black and white, not red and white?
jesse Watson To expand on the above comment, Its only borrowed Summer only to bump some of the C-3s to the Montauk Branch. So the MARC IIs were brought to cover the moved C-3s. Those cars should be back in 2018/2019.
Do you know how the freed up C3 cars were utilized on the Montauk Branch, longer train sets, or additional scheduled trains? I believe because of the Penn track work there was a peak AM westbound train from Speonk making additional stop at Massapequa Park and Seaford, so maybe some added car(s) to accomodate that? Or was it just additional cars for FRI>>SUN weekend trains to/from the Hamptons?
