I fully agree. I even made some Custom cards for them. You had to toss a card from hand to change them to Fusion, XYZ or Synchro type monster. I based their names off of the stereotypes that were in the Lovecraft books...
I instantly thought of some names for the other extra dex entities: Pendulum: paralel entity Link: Virtual entity and the main deck monster could be called entity servant although I dont know enough lovecraftian lore for any specific names, any one got suggestions?
ok, I don't know if adding more summoning styles would be a good idea, I do feel as though its good with just the main three. however, I would like there to be more cards, especially with how it is as for names, I know a tiny bit, but I'm not an expert. Cthulhu: literally needs no explanation, I could see him being an elder entity since the other 2 have water backgrounds Yosogoth: weird blob thing with arms, as for type; probably old entity I know that there are like 2 others, one being from insmyoth and another being a Lovecraft story based around a goddamn air conditioner (yes that's real), but I don't know their names
be nice to see this set of cards get some more love. maybe some links or pendulums? if the deck ever gets main deck monsters, they could be based on the non-godlike monsters of the lovecraft mythos. Shoggoths, Nightgaunts, Bholes, Innsmouth Fishmen, Pickman's Model, etc.
I used old entity hastorr in windwitch to send it to the GY when summoning diamond bell to then use the effect of diamond bell destroying the equiped hastorr to steal a monster. Not very good nor consistent but it was hilarious to do.
This archetype makes you wonder "how could they even give support to this?" The only way i can think of is to give it spell / trap support that lets you summon level 2 / 4 monsters from hand/deck/GY so you can somehow summon the entities. probably limiting the main deck monsters to normal monsters, otherwise spright suddenly make the achetype busted beyond belief That or fully commit to the inspiration and make more extra deck monsters (that theorically would make it easier to summon the already printed entities), that make it even harder to play all of them in a single deck (like the earthbound immortals) And even then, the elephant in the room needs to be addressed: what references would you make in the artwork? what would you look for in the source material?
I would love to learn more about how the Entities are related to the Different Dimension Demons, are they related on the Cosmo level or multiversal way
I’m assuming the baggage you’re talking about is H.P. Lovecraft being notoriously racist, classist, among other prejudices and didn’t understand things like air conditioning and the invisible light spectrum and wrote horror stories about them? He was a funny guy 😭
I occasionally played hastorr in speedroid, it adds the utility to prevent or force an interaction while synchro climbing going second and if it sticks you can destroy it with baronne to steal the monster it was equipped to. It wasn't the best, but it added a unique and interesting tool to your extra.
Every time you make a homestuck reference it hits me in the gut, especially since I’m currently in the process of reading it so I can catch the references
I gotta say I don't really care about these cards, sure they are cool, but that's it. They just seem to be here for merely style points and reference. And pretty much 2/3 of this archetype are not really worth mentioning when it comes to actually playing. I think what Konami should've done is this: have main deck monsters that are primarily Lv 4, some being 3 or 5, all spellcasters and work as basically cannon fodder for summoning these guys, and have spell & trap cards act like mission cards that helps them become more threatening cards the longer they are on the field, and help recycle your main deck monsters to keep giving the extra deck cards fuel and more bonus effects.
14:53 The cards that are just visual references to the Entities 16:00 I am pretty sure the only deck that could theorically make use of all entities (assuming they are all UNBANNED), and actually summon them, would be a weird spright / melffy / lunalight combo abomination (melffy to summon the synchro level 4, that uses the lunalight black sheep to search polymerization and some rank 4 xyz, and spright to gather the level 2 and xyz materials). That or a Zoodiac deck that tries to fit the melffy And even then those wouldn't probably be good decks

Honestly, I wish all cards like Azathot (Kali Yuga, King Calamity, etc.) would get an erata locking down effects on your turn specifically, because I can't think of any benefit the ability to prevent your opponent from playing would have on the game.
Honestly i actually don't mind the idea of having the entity cards as silly tech-picks scattered across a bunch of different decks. It adds a fun emergent element of whatever archetype you're playing suddenly revealing themselves to be cultists of whichever entity's in there.
Could Norden be unbanned if it would get the once by turn AND the Elemental hero treatment "can only besummoned using the Named materials"? Would this help?

It always felt weird to me that the lovecraftian cosmic horror monsters are level/ ranks 4 & 5 due to still having notions from old yugioh where levels were supposed to be at least vaguely representative of "power" in a more abstracted/ lore sense; Monsters on average get higher stats at higher levels, Blue-Eyes was the pinnacle of strength for a monster for a while and was level 8, setting it apart from other strong signature monsters like Dark Magician, Red-Eyes, and Gaia all at level 7 (and Summoned Skull & Jinzo at level 6 even though they're level 7 in the manga), and who's finally matched for base stats by BLS, who is _also_ level 8. Then later the God Cards came out at level 10 and were lore-wise "the strongest known cards in existence" at the time. I get the game's changed a lot over the years and a card's level isn't really considered to be an indicator of how strong it's supposed to be anymore, and that's nice for all the low level strategies it allows for, but it does just feel off for cards like Azathot, who could reasonably have been a bizarre alt wincon card instead but dark hole no more isn't exactly inaccurate to Azathoth either as a being who ends the universe if they wake up because reality is actually just their dream. Rank 5 though, it feels like a purely mechanical decision. It does make them weird, but more in a "did the design team make a mistake?" way. That said, I'm of the belief the play would be using levels 1 & 3 for the syncro enabling side of the deck; Rather than pairing level 2s to make 4, matching 3 & 1 allows for Dreamlands to turn other level 3s into a level 4 on summon, which can then be overlayed with the level 4 syncro you control to make a rank 4. If your syncro was cthugua you'll get a draw from that, if you detach them they'll be a target in grave for norden to set up for azathot's board wipe or even summoning N'tyss if the xyz sticks around. Norden & Azathot are banned of course, but the idea's there.
You think azathot is bad lol have you played against kashtira shang ira😂 its horrible or ojamma which is still a full board lockout. 1 turn isn’t that bad especially when there are other cards that lock monster/card effects for the entire turn.
