DAMN that was an close fight! I can see why Starfleet didn't want Sovereign Battleships in the frontlines of the Dominion War. There where only like 4, maybe 7 Sovereign class built during the war.
They were definitely a response to the new threats. I think the only thing that outclassed a Sovereign during that time period was a Dominion Dreadnought. Negh'Var... I'd say it was close, but the Sovereign was still stronger.
To be fair a sovereign in actuality would likely three shit a dominion battleship, thing of how strong a neghvar is compared to a dominion battleship, it’s about even, yet ds9 with weaker photons and the same exact kind of phaser array as the sovereign, nearly 5 shot a negh’var, which is more or less exactly even with a dominion battleship.
@Mikerille yeah a Sovereign would shit on a Dominion battleship. The drunk and brainless cadets of the USS Valiant were able to inflict moderate to severe damage on that Dominion battleship while barely firing their phaser cannons and a handful of quantum torpedoes, and barely doing any evasive maneuvers (Valiant tanked a huge amount of hits which is impressive)
@@jaredevans8263 I'd put the Valiant's tankiness to plot armour. Especially since the whole thing held together beautifully, then exploded ONE SECOND after Jake's escape pod left the ship. There's a lot of conveniences like that going on in Star Trek. All ships get incredibly tanky if they have a named character on them. It adds about 1000% more Health and 5000% more Shields/Armour, to any ship XD . Realistically, a Dominion Dreadnought would take about 2-3 Sovereigns to destroy it.
I always imagined how different the war world have gone if Starfleet had used a fleet of Sovereign class. That ship was hands down the best design ship in the history of Starfleet ❤
Yeah it would have been a different fight for sure, but then again a bigger fleet of Galaxy and Nebula classes would have been a similar story. Or even if Starfleet had refit the entire Excelsior fleet to the Lakota standard: imagine Starfleet with about 2000 Lakota's! 😲

question, did they change how the phasers work with kobyashi maru and other mods, i watch video's like this and barely see phaser being fired for more than a second or so (and not to mention multiple being fired at once which is cool) when in the base game phasers take a while to do much damage
@@lameisthenewcool5277 Mine isn't full screen either at the moment, just borderless window. I have to change my display to 1080p (down from 1440) otherwise i just get a half screen box in the top left corner 😂

The Sovereign is a monster, the ambassador barely stood against one battleship
