@@cameronmcgurk9302 he'd probably have more motivation to train and fight if his first experiences with it weren't life or death situations, unlike Goku who had a whole period of time training with Grandpa Gohan then Roshi and Krillin, whereas Gohan saw his father die, then the Z Fighters (especially Piccolo) and then the Namekians, Vegeta and Krillin.
It's easy to see why he's so hesitant to fight and wants to be something else.
I mean, he even had his neck snapped by Recoome with obviously led to some unresolved trauma as he replicates the Ginyu Force's poses as Great Saiyaman.
I love how Gohan inherited the same nervous laugh as Goku

Two things:
1. I like how Gohan doesn’t really get into fighting as an adult unless he’s The Great Saiyaman and then suddenly he’s super into it.

I always saw it as Gohan did not like fighting just for the sake of it, but when he is motivated or once he got into a fight then his Saiyan blood takes over and he enjoys it. But he also keeps a sense of strategy and calmness, unlike his father who can be pretty reckless sometimes.
Goku doesn't always use his head in battle same with Goten it seems. UI suits him. Gohan, Vegeta and Trunks are the smart ones.

He does have a slight problem there through where when he first powers up he gets a bit of a sadistic streak, and that usually backfires. I like how you can see this almost happen in Superhero but Piccolo is also in the fight and keeps him focused.
For someone who stopped training years ago and to be able to at least match goku's strength. I'd say he'd be even stronger if he trained alot more than he had for the tournament

Honestly Goku could probably do like, three jobs at once. Between his strength and instant transmission, he could earn so much money that Chi Chi would never complain again.

I find it funny how all the z fighters just retired after how bad they all messed up during gokus absence in the buu saga. Gohan had the upper hand then lost it being over confident then dropped the potara. Retired to become a scholar. Tien and krillin knew how useless they were after buu ate krillin then went to otherworld to beat up his soul and tein got knocked out by just the unattached lower half of buu so krillin retired and became a cop then tein started his own school. Goten and trunks were completely childish which makes sense given their ages at the time but they got absorbed and played too much during the fight so the team just don't even bother inviting them to fights. Yamcha gave up and retired after losing to a sibaman and dr.gero put a hole in his chest. Piccolo got the whole world killed so now he is either meditating, running errands or babysitting for gohan and videl. They all just rely on goku and vegeta because they all dropped the ball heavy.😂😂😂

A few things are important to learn here.
1. Chichi must be so happy looking at her boys, sparing. A treat in its own right i must say.
2. Imagine two super saiyans fighting and the amount of damage they did is so minor. That says a lot about how far they've come in controlling their power.
3. Goku would free Palestine...

The one thing that always bothered me about dragon ball super was about Goten. Back in dbz in the buu saga, it was chichi was ok for goten to help trunks and the z fighters to literally fight evil buu, but once we got to dbs they got chichi to prevent goten from training even during or after studies.
It kind of makes sense, they've seen gods and other deities, and whatever. Along with Goku and Vegeta have always stepping up. Also, seeing how successful Gohan is, it makes sense why Chi-Chi wants to make sure he's studying more than ever.
Even all the things gohan said he is, deep down he’s also a saiyan warrior that get riled up during a fight 😅

While I enjoy this fight, (this is where the super animation started getting good imho) the powerscaling really bothers me here.
Gohan should be (unfortunetly) much weaker than Goku here, esåecially comparing super saiyan forms (cuz you know, if you multiply a larger and a smaller quantity with the same multiplier, the difference between them grows bigger.).
I guess you could argue for holding back, but it REALLY doesn't look like that is the case.
I understand where you’re coming from, but you have to remember Gohan was training with Piccolo after the Goku Black arc so he got back into fighting and wasn’t nearly as weak when he fought Frieza in Resurrection F.
Further, it’s training so Goku isn’t going all out to begin with.
See that’s where your wrong, bc it’s based of proportion, if Goku’s power level is 10 and Gohan’s is 5, multiply their levels by 5 and it’s still in proportion. Goku’s new levels being 50 and Gohan’s 25

I never said anything about proportion.
Someone with two in powerlevel is not that much stronger than someone with one feat wise.
However, someone with 5000 is a lot stronger than someone with 2500 feat wise.
And this difference just kerps increasing with higher multipliers.
This was just a sparring match. Neither one of them were going all out. Also consider that Gohan has been training lightly with Piccolo up until now.
That’s not how it works, they are sparing not going all out.

While I do like the idea that Gohan has become complacent and has to reignite his fire in order to save Pan, the overall story just made it feel like Gohan had no agency in the narrative. While Gohan Beast looks cool, it defeats the purpose of his ultimate form and just plays out as another transformation that comes almost out of nowhere and might never see again because I, as a fan and audience member, don’t believe Gohan will let Piccolo’s warning stick and continue his training on the side.
