I've heard "Paths of Glory" described as the best anti-war film ever and I could see that. He wanted "Full Metal Jacket" to do the same, but strangely it actually led to an uptick of Marine enlistment.

Another great month from Kino! They have been getting me for 3-4 titles per month for a while now. September-November will be the same. Can't wait for the next few months!! Thanks, Heath!

In 1939, Irene Dunne & Charles Boyer. made another more popular film called Love Affair, which 15 years later was remade as An Affair To Remember, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr.

Your first mention of the book, "Forgotten Films to Remember," caused me to seek it out and buy it. Thanks! A good read. Your coverage of Kino pickups and recommendations are among my favorite CAM episodes. My God -- my "save for later" list in my Kino cart is about 100. Kino continues to offer what I want as a collector!! Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (4K),The Gun in Betty Lou’s Handbag, and In the Heat of the Night (4K) arrived this week. I also finally ordered the VHS Retro packaging edition of Silent Rage. Thanks for talking about that one.

30’s-50’s are my absolute favorite decades of film. I am a huge fan of Margaret Sullavan, so I was really excited to see Kino release more of her films.

Where do you think you acquired the love of those decades from? I find the acting from that era- when it was more similar to play acting- a little off putting. But I still have my favs from that era.

I hear Chuck Norris restored them himself.

Paths of Glory is a really good movie IMO. Only watched it once, but for a Kubrick film, it is seriously accessible to new Kubrick viewers. I noticed it does contain some of his dark humor, but damn could Kirk Douglas (RIP) act! Highly recommended.

I love the old classic movies. Love to see Kino Lorber bring more of the 1920-1960 westerns to BluRay. Flash Gordon series that were made by universal in the 30. Kino should restore these features.all the chapters. And the early Tarzan series and film. 1933 buster crabb Tarzan movies. The mr motto series were bought by Disney. Kino should get them and put them out there. The sword and sorcery stuff is good. Amazing B movies if these would come to BluRay for a new generation.

Ah, love your Kino videos. I picked up the Samson... bluray. Not the best Peplum but a decent one made better by having both versions and Tim Lucas' informative commentary. I can now lay my ragged looking Sinister Cinema copy to rest.

Oh man a lot of these titles look really intriguing. But now that my summer job is coming to a close I can't just buy movies every month. It's probably for the best though, I have a lot to get through.

Do you watch all these films that you showed today? On average, how many movies do you watch per day or per week?

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

You bet I do. As for how many, it depends on the day. Sometimes I can watch as many as six movies in a day, but right now I'm working on a ton of interviews with filmmakers and distributors so that's getting a lot of my time.

You have many American movies (Hollywood). I am from Belgium and I'm curious that you have European movies in your collection. Directors like Dardenne, Jeunet, Ozon, Truffaut, Fellini, Ozon, Van Looy etc...... The List is long

LITTLE MAN WHAT NOW? Frank Borsage' was a great 30s film maker. Check him out. This movie is about Germany, and how the average citizen in that country dealt with post war life. Quite interesting, and Douglass Montgomery is little known, today. Margaret Sullivan was a major 30s star. Worth watching. I am with you about the studio films of the thirties and 40s and its often because the actors you come to know. Its like visiting old friends for an hour or so.

I am 42 years old all my life I have been stuck in the 80s and early 90s within the last two years I have really started to fall in love with Cary Grant Betty Davis and all of the old black-and-white studio movies. There’s something about that time. That is just amazing. Definitely underappreciated.

I have seen They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way! It's pretty bad, but I really like Tim Conway (particularly with Don Knotts), so yeah, I'll watch his bad ones too. It's also really low budget and had such a grimy print that I'm somewhat amazed there's going to be a Blu upgrade. Drastically switching gears, for French films, I think you'd love the gritty crime noirs and heist films of Jean-Pierre Melville.

Yes I was excited to see that Summer Heat in the stack of films, may have to add it to my collection.
Yes James Cagney is one of my favorite actors and I have his autobiography that I'm going to be picking it up next week. Don't tell her it's me is a pretty average movie of what you would expect. I have seen every Chuck Norris movie and my favorite would be Lone Wolf McQuade.

I just wish Kino would send things properly when you order direct. Awful. Zero packing material, even on a exchange that was a replacement for damage. They use another place to fulfill and is horrible. Shame.

I grew up on 30's to early 60's mid tier studio films thanks to my local PBS and Public Access channel so I Iove the fact Kino releases these types of films on Blu Ray in droves.

The mid-30's through the mid-50's are my sweet spot (the rise and decline of the "studio system"). I also have a penchant for 70's made-for-TV movies, having aged during my formative years in that decade. Post-80's films are hit & miss for me.
