Filipinos should switch to football as we are more adapted to do well in foot than in basketball as we clearly don't have the height to compete in intl basketball, but in football our physical structure would actually help us. Just look at Barça!

you right, basketball had standards compare to football there it only need pace and physical strength that filo had, I am also a filipino I like football ⚽ one day I'll be playing in barcelona

I’m Mexican but I actually grew up with a lot of Filipinos in my area and I always wondered why y’all aren’t contenders internationally when it comes to futbol. That was until my friend told me that Basketball is the primary sport for y’all. I really hope that the Philippines can enter the international scene with the rest of us in the world. You guys have such high enthusiasm as much as the rest of us. Like for boxing when there would be Pacquio vs Marquez fight. Energy for days. The sense of being able to support your nation like that and y’all can support I’ve seen it whenever those fights come on LOL So if y’all were to come through with futbol. The hype would just be unbelievable

oscar1op We used to be competitive in football during post-Spanish occupation when a kid named Paulino Alcantara started to make a name for himself in Barca, Europe and Asia. But history made it different for us as Americans wants us to "like" them more than Spain. Like the language, they introduced something new to us through their educators, which is basketball.

I actually think we have potential to making it internationally. Even though we arent that tall, we are still fast, quick-witted, smart, determined and when we get hurt - we dont start diving and pretending but continue like nothing happened because we experience a lot of accidents like these anyway. We naturally have these qualities because of what we do in our everyday lives. So if we play football, we can endure anything no matter what. Basketball has been a famous sport for us but its pretty hard to make it internationally since its mostly popular in the west, not the east. And its rare for an asian player to be playing in the NBA. Like only one got to play in it. What Philippines just need to do is to not only develop the leagues and stuff like that but also bring the subject football to the poor areas so they can learn it and can eventually discover the sport and start realizing what they should achieve in the future; football. Basketball is an amazing sport but i'm just saying that playing football gives us more chance to represent our country (from sports) to the world. (Like take an example from Brasil. Brasil is just like philippines but it's in south america and plays football everywhere instead of basketball) ✌️

Karen Neri I totally agree what ya saying here. Like look at us Mexicans, we basically small people too. Like we definitely don’t got height compared to those Europeans ya know lmao I get that our difference is that futbol is already like ingraved into our culture/ it’s basically like religion for us and for the Philippines it’s still developing. I genuinely hope y’all make it to like qualify for the World Cup on day!!

Great to see the sport growing, especially in a country that once had a strong football pedigree until history interupted and the nation came under a strong US influence. Asides from that it'll be good for the country to compete with its neighbours on the sports field in what is by far the biggest, most universal sport in the world.

More clubs, more Leagues, More schools to teach football, that would be really fantastic to see in the future i hope. Never thought football is an epic sport but now i know. Thanks

There are some good players over there. European clubs should attend more! There is still a big difference between the big teams as Loyola and the little ones, as Nomads or Kaya. Refered to Nomads I hope this year the team consolidates to good way of playing Randy, Luis Infante... are good players, they can give more to the philipine soccer.
