Don't go to Dubai, one of the worst places on earth with regards to how hypocritical it is. My wife lived there and she heard some horrible stories about the place that don't even make the media. The level of chauvinism and racism there amongst locals is shocking.
Stay away from anybody with a year round tan that wobbles their head when they talk.

At the time of his trip and arrest, England had one of the largest supplies of analogues/research chems for public sale and distribution, up until the blanket ban on ALL psychoactive substances, and the duffle bag was coincidentally!?!? He seemed like one of the more genuine people to me. Clearly traumatised by one of the worst stories I’ve heard and is trying to make light of it

So wait when he went back to the prison he was “comfy” in after getting turned away from Dubai central prison, there was a whole new guy running the prison? What happened to the old guy? where did this new guy come from? Absolute bollocks the whole thing.

100% , at the start of the podcast he said the hookers and condoms are nothing to do with him , then at the end he when his girlfriend said she cheated , he said he wasn’t faithful in Dubai with the hookers

Sorry Shaun, I've done some years behind the door (not dubai). My bullshit alarm is ringing like crazy. Way too many "I don't remembers" going on in this story to be credible. He's gonna get smashed for beating a snitch? Yet doesn't say what the outcome with the snitch is just he slipped on a towel and everyone laughs then ends the story. Too many convenient memory lapses. I don't buy it.
So, many armed cops somehow found the need to stop a car recently hired by a bunch of tourists and there just happened to be a stash of drugs mistakenly left in its boot (trunk) after the car hire company cleaned the vehicle.

simple fact check, he says he and his friends paid 'for a lot of flights home' for the absconding workers in the jail. shaun asked him how much a flight was and he said it was 'around £200'. A flight from Dubai to Dhaka is way over £200.

I read Karl Williams book. The most shocking part of the book is when he describes his interaction with the British Embassy. It is very clear that consulate staff did not do anything to help these guys during their ordeal. His book is a must read! It is a page turner and oddly very entertaining.

One of the best podcast. My god you must have been starved of content your life. This wasn't a great story. It was all over the place and he couldn't remember half of it. It's called exaggeration. If you like fairy tales then it was a great story.

Interesting story but I also felt he was making things up as he went along. There is no doubt he was in prison but some of his stories don't ring true to me.

Brits flood into Dubai like it's Ibiza, but don't realise how much trouble you can get into for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
In dubai there is no tolerance for drugs at all. The police there know when to raid with reasonable suspicion.
Secret Police and plenty of informers who are Paid..to Tell..That needs to be told ..as it's image is Fake..

This interview confirms a lot of my suspicions about Dubai. The massive corruption is thinly veiled by tourist attractions and luxury outfits. Once upon a time, I was intrigued by Dubai and thought it'd be a nice place to visit. Recent knowledge's made me re-think that notion.

Shaun is there any possibility you could get Micheal Connell on one of your podcasts? He was a prisoner in the Bangkok Hilton for drug smuggling. I think he would have some very interesting stories. He’s from Bury Lancashire but not sure if he still lives there after being released.

I’d love to see someone else from the prison give a statement on this. From the pictures from the jail he took he doesn’t look like he’s living it up in there “brand new tracksuit every week” when there’s a pic of him in some dead pyjamas looking all dusty
