    Finally, a video that is actually helpful. I had been searching for this for a long time to add timestamps to my motovlogging videos.

      I searched for a long time for this software also. I tried many programs, but this was the easiest and for a good value. Glad to help!

    Glad I found this. Just dropped over a grand for a Sony Ax53 as I was sold on the features of this camcorder for PI work... It had a date and timestamp... Or so I thought, it was only for viewing on the camcorder, how silly. I hope my manager doesn't have an issue with this, but this is a lifesaver for me. I won't even tell him about doing this. Better to ask forgiveness than permission in this case LOL. It meets all the requirements for the Evidence laws here in Canada. Like you said, the metadata is no different then manually setting a date/time on older equipment. What matters is my testimony and affidavit to swear it's authenticity.

      I also found software called "DVMP Pro 7", also seems like great software, even more customization and onboard tools then the software you show here, a bit more pricey, but not really considering this software seems to have all file types you could ever want. Not sure if you have checked it out. I am trying demos of both and playing around with it.
      The one you recommend, after I "stamp" it, the video seems to become jittery and not smooth (when zooming and such), it seems it removed some frames and replaced with previous possibly, not sure what is going on, but going to keep tweaking it until I can get it to look exactly like the original.

      Glad to help. I went through the same struggles and worked for a PI agency that used old equipment for this reason. When I started contracting for them instead and used my own higher grade equipment I used this, and they accepted it when I explained that in the end, it always comes down to verifying the validity of evidence. This primarily done via an affidavit or testimony.
      I used Go-Pro extensively, and was able to time stamp the video. The "old school" dogs need to get current with present day legalities.

    Great video, it’s hard to get these old school surveillance guys away from the work product they everyone is used to. Date and time stamped product as a surveillant is key.

    • @MasterSurveillant
      @MasterSurveillant  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you are limited to old technology due to an antiquated method of analog date and time that makes no sense. Everything today is meta data, that cancan be manipulated to some degree anyway. It comes down to testimony of the operator or technician that verifies what how they obtained the video or evidence....

      A Date and time stamp on the video is often more a convenience for attorneys than anything. A video’s Authenticity has to be validated by the investigator anyway. 35mm and reels of old never had the feature and were admitted as evidence.

      @@MasterSurveillant I agree... A gentleman called my business today and asked if I could film his warehouse where his last tenants left it pretty trashed. For videos that are 30 or 60 minutes long, say, it appears to take about that long to time stamp it, meaning it's minute for minute virtually. Is this what you have found?
    Thanks,

    • @MasterSurveillant
      @MasterSurveillant  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, actually it is much faster. It is not like rendering a video for editing. I don't remember how long it takes, but it's pretty quick!

  • @petpeeve4657
    @petpeeve4657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    can the date n time be used to show if footage has been tampered with. Like if a certain piece was cut out and replaced with another part of the clip to cover up a crime?

    • @MasterSurveillant
      @MasterSurveillant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This program utilizes the meta data from the file. But, the software allows for adjusting the stamp data. So, let's say I travelled from CA to NY, and forgot to change my camera settings for the time zone. I can adjust the hours to show the actual time it was recorded.
      I am not sure how your scenario would play out, as the file is uploaded and data extracted from it to set the output. Either way, raw data files must be retained for evidence. The date/time stamp is more of a convenience to visually see when an incident is occurring. A person that records the evidence is a material witness and must testify to the authentic nature of the evidence. This is a relevant aspect of getting evidence admitted into a court of law.
      Does that help?

    • @petpeeve4657

      @@MasterSurveillant So if the surveillance operator says it's authentic then that's that no one can dispute that?? 😕 I'm screwed 😥😢

    • @MasterSurveillant
      @MasterSurveillant  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@petpeeve4657 Not necessarily. The raw video file has to be provided...as is, no adding or deleting. If the file is altered it is not admissible in most cases. For example, if I run a covert camera on a house for 3 days and capture motion video of cars driving by, but the only evidence is my suspect leaving his or her garage in a stolen vehicle, I will eliminate the 3 days of video, but I have to retain it. I'll capture the 5-10 second relevant clip from the raw video. But, the raw video is the evidence, unless the defense stipulates to omitting the unnecessary total 3 days.

    If you imprint them after the recording isnt it considered forgery? Thx.

    • @MasterSurveillant
      @MasterSurveillant  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question! It would not be forgery. The process only extracts meta data to generate a visual of the date and time. This can still be manipulated. In court the photographer would have to testify to the accuracy of the evidence, photo or video, and the accuracy of the date and time.
