I had no idea these photo shoots were so technical and complicated. It's certainly not just point and shoot. So many external things to manipulate and so many tools to tune before you get to pull the trigger. I'm 5 videos in and I've developed quite lot of respect for the fashion photography game, both the models and the pros shooting them
Thank you
I really liked it very much I like to see more of it in the future okay
The dynamic between Peter and Bec is half the fun of these videos. :)
Thanks
Bec is without a doubt the coolest, cutest assistant one can have.
Your awkward assistant is just adorable. Great information for me who is getting back into photography after a 35 year break.
Glad it was helpful!
That part around 11:25 when Peter explains the slow sinking into the pose by the model «feel what your movement makes you feel», he tells her. That right there, is a great lesson. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks my pleasure :)
Yes, I did not think about this earlier, BEFORE watching this video I was thinking the following "the best models are the slow movers" now thanks to you I have some ideas.
Awww, your assistant is ADORABLE.
I don't do studio photography but I enjoy watching these videos because Bec is soooooooo gorgeous. A true awesome beauty.
Love your single light - amazingly versatile. I've used your technique several times and it's a keeper!
Thanks Bob :)
Peter i can see that you are a real.professionel.The.model is STUNNING.A big thank you for taking the time to read the commends made and responding to it.I hope to see more of your videos.❤❤❤
thanks
Love to see a photoshoot outside. All natural light. No studio. No tether. No flash. No reflector. No assistant. On location. Action!
th-cam.com/video/qc_ihXUN7Rw/w-d-xo.html and lots more
Just wanted to say that these demos are so helpful. I use 1, 2 and 3 light set ups, but can see the tethering really helps quickly judge the lighting... I'm gonna invest! The one thing I have found, is when shooting the waist of a model, or in my case mum to be... the strap of knicker pull the skin in at the side. I generally ask that they use low tack tape front/back and cut off the sides, so their modesty is covered, but far far less time trying to retouch natural creases. Hope that is helpful. 'Boob tape' as we call it (used to stop dresses gaping), works well on tummy/bum to aid this. Anyway, thought I'd share that! Stay safe!
Clive ... not an expert by any means, but I prefer to skip the tape and work with someone who might be less modest. The constant flinching to maintain the minor bit of extra coverage just takes away from natural movement. Get the gal to "let it happen" and worry about details in editing and sorting later.
@@rupe53 Agree, but for paying clients, they want the look but aren't always comfortable straight away... trust is key in this. Can't just swap model.
@@clivemear4481 ... once again, we seem to agree. Gotta work with what you have.

Even though I shoot landscapes these days ( and the odd relative occasionally ) , I still love studio photography and watching you, Bec, and the models.
Lies again? FAS Sunday Bell
Working in various shades of white reminds me of the days when I did B&W film and so much was about the minor variations in the shadows.... or lack of shadows in certain places. The composition of a picture is not just the subject near the center of the shot.

This is very apposite for these lockdown times but also shows how much can be done with simple clothes and fabrics when fashion items are scarce. Thanks for a fun video.
Awesome, glad you're enjoying the channel :)
Loved that tip about slow movement. I learn great things from these vids.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Exactly! That tip is pure gold.
I absolutely love this photo shoot one of my favourites I watch this video nearly every two weeks
I always liked black and white. Your work tells me why and makes me love it even more.
Thanks
He says: “The lighting system is pretty simple…,” as he points to this giant octagon thing hanging over his head.
Man, that is some kind of studio.
It feels a little like walking into Tomorrow Land, you know, with supermodels.
I really liked this one, a fashion shoot without fashion... just brilliant.
You have a much more creative mind than I do, you created those compositions in your minds eye before putting them together in front of you, I'm not sure I have that level of creativity. Maybe that's why I find landscape photography more to my capabilities. I have a lot less to think about.
Thanks heaps Dave
Loved that lighting!!!
I have:
120cm octabox with double difusor and option to use a grid
185cm silver umbrella
Which one do you think would do a similar look of this amazing work you did?
Thanks 🙏🏻
Thanks heaps, the octabox will give a similar look with no grid
Simple setup with basic wardrobe, I love it
Awesome, thank you :)
I'm always amazed at how much you guys can teach in such a simple manner. Thanks
Thanks, I like simple :)
Another great video, really enjoying the channel, can't wait to get back into the studio!
Awesome, thank you so much
Awesome
It's amazing what a great artist can do on a good set with one simple properly diffused bounced light, oh, and a gorgeous subject!
Thank you so much!
She is very
Great video! Bec is adorable! She needs to be your full time hostess. 😂☺️❤️
After I started watching your videos I found myself playing with speed, light exposure, shadows and angles... thank you guys.
That is awesome, thanks
Many thanks for sharing this video. Amazing! It reminds me a lot when I went to Greece and I saw the sculptures of the goddesses. This is a similar experience.
You take your time for something that simple to show us the beauty of it. And that it is nowhere near simple, butbrather deep. Thank you. Not being a photographer.
Wow, thank you!
Very interesting one light setup. Thank you for sharing it...
Nice demo of single light, simple “clothing”, and a knowledgeable model. Great job by everyone. At first, I did find it a bit hard to see exactly where the light was pointing. It sure covers a wide angle, more range of feathering than I expected. I know you use professional gear and suspect this is one really good reason why. Excellent video, thank you.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it.
Superb Peter, great content, fab model, she looks really good, so happy Bec's is as mad as ever. Stay safe guys, love ya...
Thank you :)
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I needed this! 🙏🏾
Thanks :)
Lol Peter to Bec: "What has happened to you today?" Me thinks just a little vino is the culprit 🍷🍷🍷🍷🤣🤣
Bec's just a bit of a goof :)
Bec is def an original :) @@PeterCoulsonPhotographer
The red material shots are very stunning, dramatic and powerful, great video
Thank you so much 😀
I found this channel randomly; it is really a channel that produces quality content. Congratulations.
Wow, thank you!
I love the results you got from that one light. I always enjoy the Bec and Peter relationship. Who broke Bec? 😉
Me!
As always thanks to all three of you for sharing such nice tips and tricks for single light shooting modes. One humble request/ question to Peter ... how would you do a shoot with a vintage camera at home studio ?
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it. There's nothing different from capturing on film or digital :)
You’re welcome
In the film days, it was common to get a Polaroid film back for medium format cameras, so you could shoot test shots and get instant feedback. Now everyone just has digital, no need for guessing and Polaroids.
Thank you so much for all the useful info. I've already implemented a few
You're very welcome thank you :)
Madeleine is super pretty. I noticed her cell phone in the robe pocket too and was wondering how long it would stay in there. :)
Bec is so fun and silly. She definitely added to this video without modeling.
Thanks for sharing/posting. Cheers!
Thanks
It's not so much what one shows but what one says when not influenced by trends, after all we just come and we just leave as we really are
Well done
Thanks
I've been watching your videos for a short time and these recent episodes have been an education. I ran a small photo business in the late 70's and 80's. Now that I am retired,, I'd like to get back at it. Thank you so much for the pointers.
Thanks heaps

I like the lighting technique, and your assistant is awesome

Excellent, I like that one picture of her when she was on the wall , the same one that you really like 👍
Wonderful video Peter!
Wow thank you for being cool and blowing my mind. This was my 3rd video of yours I watched back to back to back. I am so fascinated
✌️♥️
Wow, thank you so much
Great shoot. Loved the commentary explaining everything you wanted to accomplish.
Thank you
Jesus loves you!!!🧜♀️❤💜💚💒💛🐱🦭🌌😇🏝💙🌄
Waw... you both are very professional! Model, super creative; the Photograper conducts her very well too.
Thank you so much!
I enjoy the demo posts of this time length. Perfect for a one issue “how to” video. Lots to learn, made enjoyable. Thank you, Peter.
Awesome, thanks heaps
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Great video! How long was the actual photoshoot?
@@ivangarciastudio all up about 3 hours from building the set, filming the detailed tutorial for inspire and filming the youtube tutorial.
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Thanks for your reply, I imagine that a photoshoot without building a set or filming videos is about an hour or less, is that right?
That photographer has some serious gear!
Hi Beca and Peter. another great shoot, thank you all three, beautiful. I like the subtle approaches to what you place in the background, the wall and floor backdrops for example, you shoot a lot of mono which is beautiful especially with your use of lighting, stunning. Do you ever attempt to create atmosphere with smoke for example or gobo’s and even gels when shooting colour or is that kind of thing a bit gimmicky for your taste? I guess it’s knowing what not to do as much as what to try with these things, just wondering how personally you draw the line with these kind of things in your photography Peter? Thanks, Andrew
Thanks Andrew, commercially I do all of the above, whatever the client wants, but my work I sometime use gobo's but that's it

Thank you for this very enlightening (no pun intended) demonstration, especially in the interaction between photographer and model.
I tried to get into photography (as a hobby) when I was young. When my fiancée and I compared notes, she realised that my problem was that I tended to accept the subject as given. With some luck, I could take good snapshots, but I didn't consider any of the elements of composition or presentation, such as withholding some aspect of the subject to make the viewer look for it.
Love your work Peter. Love seeing Becca. You two are a great team.
Thanks so much!
Peter i love all the possetive respond made by every person.❤
Really interesting & great interactions between all three, stunning images.. 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much 😀
Could I please ask them
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer
I like Peter name 👍
I clicked on the video to see what you were going to do with the provocative title. I was pretty sure it wasn’t a swimsuit/bikini shoot or anything like that , but the title suggested something out of the ordinary .
I’m starting to think maybe fashion photography is a possible career for later in life now I’m 42? There’s probably a huge history and education to be gained from a lifetime or early experience in the industry which I’m not considering but I’ll probably learn that very soon . I doubt it’s an industry you can just walk in to or everyone would be doing it.
Yes I can be really hard to get a break in the fashion industry but it's easier if you stay away from that camera club look :)
My first impression of you model is that she looks like Stephany Powers, I think that's her name, that played on Remington Steele, Whatever that program was.
Stephanie powers co stared with Robert Wagner in Hear To Heart. Stephanie Zimbalist was the lady detective in Remington Steele, who was played by Pierce Brosnan, who then went on to play James Bond 007.
@@lensman5762 "Hart To Hart" 😀
@@lensman5762 That's it! I couldn't remember the names. A mild case of old-timer's dis-ease! :-)

very nice! a couple of things ive noticed (for myself) a) get a bigger space to get a bigger light source. b) softbox vs shoot-through umbrella c) a MODEL who knows what she's doing...
i loved this a lot
Thanks for sharing :)
Better title for this might be ....'without fashion clothing', other wise it makes us come to your page to see someone not wearing ANY clothing. I'd like to add that photography is key and B&W photography is always harder than colour, as that requires understanding of shadows and tones and colour gradients. I loved this tutorial. Thanks
really beautiful and powerful images.
Thank you so much 😀
I just wanna grab those lol
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer 9
That was a very interesting shooting, thank You! But my biggest question is about the light angles? I didn't understand how it is bounced from a black surface? In my studio I use always a white surface for light bounce and a specific angle for reflection, usually at 90 degree.
The black wall is 10m in front of the the white cye and has nothing to do with this lighting
Black absorbed light prevents over spill in a way. As far as I think.
I like to gve someone a trophy to the person who made the title.
😂
Nice back drop, all white, brings out the color of her skin and what she has wrapped around her, I just love seeing natural beauty, I'm not a professional photographer, but nice job!!!!!
Thank you so much
These are so fun and educational and wow gorgeous model and images
Thanks so much 😊
Would be really interesting to do a shoot in the style of Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" LP cover from the 1960's. The model is covered in nothing but whipped cream.
Madeleine and that red sheet....AMAZING!!!!!
yep, bathrobes, rugs, and sheets is what i came to see, so thanks!
Wow! Everybody was on point . Amazing what experience can accomplish in such a short span of time. Good job on the BTS also Miss Bec.
Thanks :)
Absolutely beautiful shoot...
thanks
First class, as usual. Any Penfolds Grange hanging about your studio? I am quite keen on that.
Thanks I wish
Agree with you on the cross lighting. The internet fashion appeal with have models display the fashion so they can transfer the clothes to the user, so the poses will have to be standardized.
Great Vid Peter, thanks again!
Very welcome
Your assistant is way cool. U should be so lucky with her.
Excellent channel, keep going Peter and Bec, Bec and Peter
Thanks Glad you like it :)
Fascinating insight into how a pro works.
Thanks
Your assistant reminds me so much of my own daughter.😂 Beautiful work!👏
😊 thank you
Loved it..!
(At least,For me)For an artist,it'll only need the last ingredient...
The story behind things and the memories made to be a memoir.
:)
Hi Peter
Nice tutorial. Can you show us in the beginning of your video a picture with your settings without the flash? Do you get a black frame? How much light comes from the surrounding?
Thanks, in my studio f8, 1/160 iso100 and no flash the model is black
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Thank you.
The shadows were all set very nice.
Thank you
Hey Peter love these can you please recommend a type and length of fabric for this kind of shoot please ty
It was a single bed sheet
A very interesting video! Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such solid understand of light ratios......

The phocus photo editor from Hasselblad is cool. How can i get that? Thanks. Your studio and equipment is absolutely 🤩 cheers

Great lockdown vid, keep shooting whatever the challenges! Thanks allfor a fun vid
Thanks :)
I love your style.
Thank you :)
Excellent light modeling
Thank you :)
Do you mean that the speed shutter and the flash power took only the flash light without any ambient light?
Or do you have also the ambient light who bounced a little but to help the flash to bring more soft light.
Or maybe it's only due to the bouncing flash light due to the speed
This is only the flash light
Thanks for the video. Very revealing
Thanks for watching :)
Superbly developed and presented.
