Bro that’s a crazy coincidence but something even scarier is that when I sleep my feet are always towards the door but the one time I’m laying on the other side of my bed I see this video at just before 3:am.

I have had the fear of being in a dark room with a mirror. About 5 years ago when I turned 50, I noticed I no longer have the fear. My old broken body with the CHF, arthritis, torn and severely damaged tendons and cartilage in my knees, and the diabetic neuropathy in both legs must have finally become undesirable for possession. 😁

I'm my experience a lot of the longer stories are series, or were posted as a series then narrated all in one go.
It's a better way to do it imo, I remember I think it was Mr Creepypasta started a series I read once but by part 3 just stopped with it. Was a great story, but the first 3 (out of like 18 parts) barely got into it.
These hour+ long versions are great because you don't get the issue of finding a good story that doesn't have an ending but they do leave the feeling of wanting more quite often.

For the rest of us who arent controlled by fear and are Not afraid of confrontation have absolutely no problem looking over our shoulders. None at all. Because we know that if there is a threat we are prepared to handle it.

I always enjoy the stories of the Fae, and the creatures they are involved with. Much as was said there are so many varieties of those creatures and their rules. I heard one story on here a long time ago and it was about a small pond, very small. And the king fairy of the pond. Although it went by a different name that I cannot recall, there was a couple of young boys and girls and most of them respected the king of the pond. But the one boy who didn’t, well, things didn’t go so well for him. It’s been so long since I heard it I’m sure that my description is way off, but I just remember that it was about these very same types of creatures and entities. Really entertaining!

A couple months ago I was out for a jog and I paused in a spot I often do to check my shoes, play some pokemon go, sip some water, etc. It was a completely bright day, one of those over 100 days, so there was definitely no standing water anywhere and it hadn't rained in weeks. But I heard water dripping from one of the abandoned buildings nearby. Not even a steady drip drip drip like you'd get from a gutter but super loud and pinging like it was big globs of water slamming into metal, like it was somehow echoing despite the area not being echoey.
I lingered and looked around a bit for where the water was coming from but never found anything. The weird sound continued to sound like it was the same distance away, same echo, no matter where I walked to around the abandoned building. I gave up and continued my jog. Guess it was one of the shadow monsters trying to get me to look over my shoulder.

Classic Edinburgh with its over the top fae threats while us down to earth Glasgow folk are happy with good ol fashioned human murder 🙃 jokes aside, I think this is the 1st story taking place somewhere I've been to, the fiction blends with real memories of places and hits different than all the purely fictional locales

Wanna see a bed that'll scare the life out of someone with claustrophobia, check out a old style Germanic Box/Chest Bed. At the same time, it'll make others feel safe as heck. Especially in spooky situations where you think there's something in your room. Nothin's creepin over the edge, cuz you're enclosed 360 degrees by solid oak!

I look in the mirror at night. I sleep with the closest door open both of them. My feet always end up over the edge of the bed. And I always look over my shoulder when I walk at night.

I love how this story immediately recognizes the ubiquitousness of this premise - those who inhabit a certain location (room, property,, house, apartment / apartment complex, town, city, etc) must follow a rule, or more often a set of rules, that are mysterious & unnerving, & the inhabitants are aware that something bad will happen if they break the rule(s), consequences or more like punishments either known or unknown (as even if no one has broken the rules, at least not in recent memory, at the outset of the story, usually when new inhabitants move in, then the new inhabitants will break them & reveal &/or learn the consequences, usually a loved one of the protagonist / narrator breaking the rule(s) & facing the punishment, which itself is most often vicious & violent in nature, a physical attack that of course induces psychological torture & chaos in the location, over which some dark entity looms, lurking just out of periphery in the shadows, waiting for a rule breaker, the exact inflicter of the punishment typically unknown, a mystery, with the force behind the punishment unknown so that, for example in one story, to break the rules would cause one’s eye(s) to be scorched, burned out of their skull, but no one can see who / what is doing it. I appreciated in the world building of this story that this premise is not recognized as a premise of a myriad of stories but a reality in the world of the story, these rules & their consequences for breaking them differing by location & mysterious identity overseeing them. Really novel & interesting way to play with such a common idea.
