- In this video, I show how to replace all of the vacuum lines, the N75 valve, and the check valve for the vacuum system on my 2001 VW Golf TDI. This is a very similar process with the mk4 Jetta and Beetle TDI models. You'll need two different sizes of vacuum hose for this project, a 3mm and a 5mm hose. About 10 ft. (3 meters) of the 3mm hose is needed and about 7 ft. (2 meters) of the 5mm hose is needed. This project can be frustrating if some of the hoses won't come off, so you might need to cut them off of some of the fittings. Just be careful not to cut yourself or any of the plastic fittings! I hope that you find this video helpful. Feel free to comment below and please subscribe!

Nice repair, I'm working on the same thing with my TDI.
Thanks!
Great video, Cory! If you find a source for the plastic clip under the vacuum pump, please post the part no. All three of mine are gone. I really look forward to watching your videos.
Awesome video! Thank you!
Thank you!
Amazing, thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
I will do this also, but I will get blue silicon ones👍🏻
Thank you work
Bad 75 valve can be fixed with blast of teflon spray in all lines, before had limp mode and strange noise on turn off engine.
Did this fix the problem
Thanks for the video, I'm having great difficulty getting the vacuum hose on a connector behind the fuel lines along the firewall. Any suggestions how to get back there? Thanks
Look for a simple way to maneuver around things. You might have to remove a few hoses to access it. Just have patience!
Your check valve is in a different spot compared to the factory diagram. Why is that?
Great Video! Today I replaced all of them with just the 3mm hose and now the car is not going as it should.. Would you mind to write down or suggest/make a video of how hoses goe, but all of them, and which ones are the 3mm and the 5mm ones.. PLEASE
Thanks! I highly recommend replacing one hose at a time so that you don't get confused. The smaller fittings will only work with 3mm hoses and the larger fittings will only work with the 5mm hoses. I will eventually try to make a video showing the differences.
Would be great mate I stay tuned! By the way, today replaced all of them expect one and it's the one from the turbo that goes to the n75
@@gianlueffe6844 - Make sure you replace them all. Mine were in bad shape, especially the one going from the turbo to the N75. Thanks for watching bud!
Why did you decide to replace the valve? Maybe I missed explanation in the beginning.
I just decided to do it while I was in there. It's not necessary, but since it was about 20 years old, it was only a matter of time before I needed to replace it anyway.
Thanks guys very helpful appreciated
Look into changing the vacuum pump seal ..
and seraf - I actually have a video on this: th-cam.com/video/EboZNNfsHTM/w-d-xo.html
Could you help me find where a line goes if I showed you a picture? I only need 1 line to connect
Which line? Is it a 3mm or 5mm?
@@Corysdiyauto there is no hose but if you go search "vacuum line hookup 1.9" on the tdi club forum my post will show up. I don't know what else to do or how to solve this problem haha
It's the 2nd picture on the post.
Ok, so that's the anti shudder valve solenoid (ASV). The hose is 3mm and connects to the ASV over on the EGR valve. It's a short hose. I hope that this helps.
Thank you so much 🙏
does any of these vacuum lines are connected to braking system or smth? Because yesterday one of it popped off and my brake is kinda hard now, I ordered new so I can change them
There's a large line that runs from the vacuum pump to the brake booster. Is this the line that you are referring to?
@@Corysdiyauto idk really, yestrrday i took a part air filter and maf sensor and i saw that 2 pipes were disconnected, i connected them, and today while i was driving i noticed that my brake is kinda hard and its breaking slower
Make sure that the hoses that you connected are in the right location.
@@Corysdiyauto ok thanks
hi, what diameter pipe do you need?
You'll need 3mm and 5mm. I have it listed in the description too.
Moin If I go full throttle without paying attention to speed 120/130.140 the vehicle shuts off the gas, it gets better when I turn the ignition off and on again and the same problem occurs when I step on the gas pedal. What could it be, there is no problem with my turbo
Is your check engine light on?
@@Corysdiyauto no
@@Corysdiyauto at low revs it pulls well, but after 3000 revs the gas stops
@@Bircan1 - Check all of your vacuum lines, especially the one going to be turbo. The vanes might be sticking.
@@Corysdiyauto Ich habe einfach alle geändert und es funktioniert immer noch nicht
you need to replace the seals on that vacuum pump.
Yes, I know. Here's a video on that if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/EboZNNfsHTM/w-d-xo.html
I dont have it in my tdi golf that ball u connect vakum line at midlle engine
Do you have the same engine (ALH)?
@@Corysdiyauto i.9 tdi injector pump like yours idk
What year?
@@Corysdiyauto 1998
@adolg4049 - You have an AHU engine and not the ALH like mine. That's why yours looks different.
Hello, how many meters are necessary for all?
You will need about 3 meters of the 3mm hose and about 2 meters of the 5mm hose.
@@Corysdiyauto thanks a lot. 🍻
Ce mode de livraison s'applique-t-il à 1.9tdi 150cv ARL ?
I'm not sure because I am not familiar with that engine setup. It may be similar?
@@Corysdiyauto Thank you
If I do this will this help with my p1556 code
Zack Scott - Yes, it could. The N75 could be bad or your VNT could be stuck/sticking.
@@Corysdiyauto VNT?
@@vampir335 It stands for "Variable Nozzle Turbine" and this vane mechanism can jam from carbon build-up. This is why it's important to accelerate hard once in awhile to clear some of the carbon out and allow the turbo vanes to move more freely. I hope this helps you.
Geometry variable?
Isabel Nievas - What do you mean by that?
@@Corysdiyauto VNT or not, and the answer is probably yes
@@nateflorea9009 - Gotcha, and yes it is a VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbo).
Thank for the vid.. but im wondering if the size is 3mm and 5mm..
Think they should be 2mm, 3.5mm
Can you confirm.please where did you get those size
The sizes are 3mm and 5mm. www.idparts.com/3mm-idvacuum-hose-n203531-p-620.html
did yiu change the line to the ecu. did you haveto remove it from the drip pan under the winshield
There's not a line in the ECU on the mk4's. I think you are referring to the mk3's. They had the little vacuum line in the ECU.
I asked for lines at the car parts shop and the guy gave me 4mm...
Puka 6000 - Didn't they have 3mm or 5mm?
@@Corysdiyauto I went to another shop and bought 3mm and 5mm but after i checked all the lines from the car i found that 1 that conected to some valve broke along with the plastic from the valve, and i am trying to replace that now
Puka 6000 - The plastic gets brittle with age unfortunately. I was a little worried when I replaced my vacuum lines, but I luckily didn't break anything.
@@Corysdiyauto It was broken before i bought the car i think, but still your video helped me a lot thank you!
