  • I took my 1989 Chevy G20 Van on a solo camping trip. It was nice and relaxing. I got to watch the sunset, ride my bike, and sit by the fire.

Hell yeah brother.. I just bought a 1988 G20 myself with 95kw that drives like it's brand new. Living your dream! Good for you sir.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. I hope you will have as much fun with your van as I have had with mine so far. Your van is basically brand new with that low of kilometers.

So glad I just found your channel, waiting for the tune up to be done on the 1987 Chevy G20 van I'm getting.

That's awesome! I have mine back in the shop getting the rear wheel bearings replaced. Good luck on your van. I hope you have just as much fun with it as I have had with mine. Thanks for watching!

I bought a 1989 Toyota Dolphin 2 weeks ago. I had been looking for a van since my husband died. Looking at camper vans, but they are so expensive. Be nice to find something like this, in that shape. my dolphin is in good shape, the engine and the interior were rebuilt in 2005 2006. It passed the safety inspection, but it’s down getting the brakes done. They passed inspection, but they were wearing down and the rotors needed turning.

I always liked those Toyota Dolphins. I had to put my van back in the shop the last week to get the rear wheel bearings replaced. I guess it will take a little money to get it the way I want. You are right, the camper vans are nice but super expensive. Good luck with the Toyota! With good maintenance you should get years of fun out of it. Have a blessed day and thanks for watching!

That is great advice. I have been getting the maintenance done and then some more. It also helps that it is really fun to drive too. Thanks for watching!

Are you going to do a 1 year review of owning the van?? If so can you tell us how you found it, how much you paid for it and how much you have invested in parts/repairs so far. What sparked your interest in buying it and using it for camping? What things do you think that may need repaired down the road. How many miles were on it and how many you have put on it. Tell us what we maybe should be looking for when shopping for a van if we want to start van camping ourselves. Are you overall happy you went with a classic vintage vehicle instead of something new and loaded with options/tech. Show and explain what it looked like when you got it and what so far has changed and what plans you have for it in the future. Also what are peoples reaction when they see this awesome vintage van rolling down the road and into the campgrounds?
I know myself and many others would be interested in learning so much more about living this lifestyle and especially with a vintage vehicle.

I definitely plan to. It won't be until this August though that I will have it for one year. Those are great ideas and I am glad you brought them up because I definitely wouldn't have thought of some of those. I appreciate all the help with this!

@@hillbillyrickoutdoors5208 August will be here before you know it! I am actually looking for one myself! I have found some chevrolets and also some really nice econolines but I get cold feet because I'm afraid of the maintenance bills or what could go wrong on it.

@lookingback6314 I think you have to go in it with the mindset that you may have to put a few thousand in it. It may not be worth the value but if you end up enjoying the van than that is all that matters I think. I prob have put about $1500 in mine so far. Tires, brakes, bearings, etc. The big question is if you have to replace the motor or transmission.

Man you are getting really good with your editing and placements of the camera angles to capture more of whats going on (like the van backing out then switching to another angle of the van leaving). Thats alot of work going in and out and out lol. But its the little things like that that will really start making a difference! Good job!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I tried to do a little bit more of that this time around. Hopefully it will get better as I go.
