I live in Washington County and I loved watching this video! I loved seeing someone explain why there are so many species down here

Thanks for watching! I'm a little jealous, there is so much herping diversity in Washington county and sometimes I wish I lived there haha.

I live in Hurricane, Utah so I’m also right in the area where the three regions intersect and I’m excited to look for snakes and other wildlife. I’ve seen a King snake (I think; it was very long and had black and white rings down its entire body). Also have seen several rattlesnakes (mostly crossing the road or dead in the road). I would also love to see a Gila monster and a desert tortoise but I know they’re both very rare to see. I wonder if you have any suggestions on where I might explore to have the best chance of seeing something cool… rattlesnakes kind of scare me but it’d still be cool to see some and I’d never try to touch or bother any wildlife I may encounter.

Really loved this. I have seen many of these myself. However, just this year in Box Elder County, I have seen two blue racers. One I caught and examined for a minute. One was sadly ran over.

@@hydraxc2478 Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Blue racers can look very similar to the Western Yellow Bellied Racer however Blue Racers are only found in the mid west. Are you sure it was a blue and not a western yellow-bellied?

@@WildaboutUT I guess they were. But they were more blue and black than the pics I see on Google.

@@hydraxc2478 Yeah they are very similar. It doesn't help that there is some variation within the species. Cool!

So I live in Herriman and want to find a garden snake. Where is the best spot to find them

Garter snakes are typically easy to find near water sources. Maybe try exploring down the banks of the Jordan River. That would be a good place to start. Good luck! Let me know if you find one!
