Now this, is content. Excellently executed. The end look is so seemless that it could most certainly pass as an actual manufacturer made product. Great choice of light-transmitting polymer combined with impressive RGB LEDs, which in conjunction with the black nature of the fan blades creates a feast for the eyes.
Finally...Someone is doing this...It looks fantastic.👍 I like them both, not sure which one to choose. I would probably choose both based on my computer builds...Now Linus Tech Tips and others will follow.
Did you measure sound output at mix & max before & after? I would be interested to know if the mod caused a difference in noise, seeing as many of us like Noctua for their low noise at high rpm output.
I dont think the sound has changed, maybe the cooling preformance because os the poort quality of a 3d print instead of the regular noctua plastic, but i think noctua can do it and it can be at the same level of the non rgb ones more expensive but at the same level (i think the price is the problem, maybe they think that noone want to spent 40 bucks on a fan)
They both look awesome, but the black looks a little better in my opinion. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Noctua to add RGB to their fans considering how long it took them just to make the NF-A12x25 in black. Keep up the good work and let me know if you guys start selling those. It would be nice to have an RGB fan option with Noctua quality.
Noctua took a long time to make these fans in black. They have just announced the white ones. We all know lighting is also coming but not before they have made a lot of money with the current and upcoming ones. If you have an iPhone, you should know.
great idea, it could have been much easier if you printed the whole thing (at one go or parts from different materials) and just used the fan rotor + supports without the original casing
Time to figure out a production rig to allow doing this quickly! As to the folks saying "bleh, RGB" I say - BLING makes it better!" If you can't keep your engineered fan goodness while adding LEDs, does that mean you've reached the end of your engineering competence!? I'd be curious if Noctua has ever done a true marketing analysis of going after the RGB enhanced marketplace -- seems like money being left on the table. Great job @2GeysTek.
great Mod. Love the black more than the brown. Currently using the thermaltake toughfan 12's with some cheap Airgoo halos that give a similar effect. but I'm thinking its time to find a guy with a printer to try this mod to save me some mm in clearance. Well done guys.
Another solution would be to take a phanteks halos led strip and use that instead of the strip used in the video. That way your have control via hub or motherboard
Very nice work. I don't have 3-D printer, is there anyway that I can buy the 3-D print (clear) hack portion from you? I would be glad to pay shipping too.
@@2GuysTek got it. The router table seems like you'd have more precise control. 2 whips on a bit that is at the cut point fir each side seems it would seperate nicely. The jeweler I could see working too with a gaurd as to not go to far. Thanks guys awesome work
I know its old video, but I just stumble upon, and I can tell you one thing.... great Mod, you guys definitely did great job, but! Noctua is into quality and that also comes with stealth look. RGB's are so for Kids, not for expensive high-end builds and I'm sure I'm not the only one to say, but if Noctua would make RGBs, that would be the end on Noctua for me and I have used their products for as long I can remember. RGB's AIO's, fans ext. look very cheap regardless of the product itself quality.
Why is Noctua not making this? Because their fans are the best in terms of performance, materials and engineering. LGBT lights add nothing to performance, but would mean a compromise in materials. I'm glad they made the NF-A12x25 Chromax Black with the short header, because the aim for those is AIO radiators.
@@arranmc182 It's definely unique, looks wise, but it works good, Phanteks is doing a similar thing with their new D30-120 (but arguably made them look more like classic ARGB fans)
Noctua needs to get with the times and add RGB. Everybody knows they make the best fans but some people purchase a different brand because they offer RGB.
dude it's so sick. shame I may never have anything like this, because quality RGB fans are so damn expensive and I don't have a 3D printer... I wouldn't mind hacking up some fans to mod them like this if I could buy those insertion plates though. But again, I'd have to find the right fans for the job. Cheap, quality, and good-looking when lit.

If they end up doing a white one, it would be even better
Wow! That's even better than the old one!
It’s a vote for the new one!

Noctua: spends years getting the gap between the blades and the frame perfect size
Some dude: give me hacksaw...
Ahem... coping saw, kind sir! 😂

Chromax black swap all the way. RGB on black blades especially when LCP is so underrated and completely freaking beautiful 🤩
Does this affect the volume of the fan in a huge way?
Not at all from what we can hear.
Now my question is would you guys be willing to do this to 6 fans? If the price is right super down. Hmu
Leave it to Noctua to shut down the nerd world by releasing a black fan. 😄
great idea,
it could have been much easier if you printed the whole thing (at one go or parts from different materials) and just used the fan rotor + supports without the original casing
Also couldn't you use a dremel or jeweler saw. Has to be so much easier

Dont mess with the noctua fans
They are good without rgb
noctua has to see this video, and do this!!! If only!!!

We provide the designs for free and there are plenty of online 3D printing shops that can turn around a print quickly and cheaply.
Fantastic 👍👍👍👍👍
Which one do you like more?
@@2GuysTek the Black is my Favorit
This is just .... ART !
You can also use some halos
You certainly could, but hours much fun with that be?
@@2GuysTek It'd be cool to see a side by side, each has pros and cons
how many leds are in the on the strip in the fan?
59 LEDs all around. Thanks for the question and consider subscribing!
@@2GuysTek That a lot can a gaming motherboard handle that amount of led lights for 12V?
What kind of hacksaw do you use for this?
That's called a coping saw. Perfect for the detailed cuts!
Can you give the 3d file for this
The intro was hilarious
Success!
I had an idea. Since I need 6 of these wouldn't a table router do the cutting so much better?
A bandsaw would be better, a table saw seems risky.
@@2GuysTek thanks. So you just need to cut until it's serrated right
You’ll need to cut just enough to separate the parts. Be very careful not to cut in too far to prevent damage to the blades of the fan.

Why should Noctua focus on RGB when performance is way more important then some simple colors spinning around in the fan.
It looks very good! Awesome! But why dont just use some Phanteks Halo's? Much easier!
That would be the easy route, yes.
nice video, and beautifull job, hope noctua would do this sometime.
THIS IS DOPE!
OMG They are so many RGB fans , Noctua is a serious Company they will never add rgb on their Fans.

Not a huge fan of RGB.... but then also 4:25 damn....
you know you could have just bought a rgb fan ring add on

Take my money!!!!!!!!
Thermaltake is already finishing a design like this. LCP Impeller blade. Different material frame/composite LCP/usual plastic frame.
that sounds horrid
