When you realize what the phone you stare at all day is actually doing this already with it's cameras and image sensors, you will realize that ship sailed over a decade and a half ago. Why you're upset someone is using this technology for something positive is beyond me. This just makes sure you're actually benefitting from retinal scanning, rather than only governments and billion-dollar+ tech companies benefitting. Which to be clear, is and has been the case for a very long time, the US has been doing it since the late 00's, and you've had no say in that, and never benefitted from it. Your retinal scans are actually already tagged to all your devices and activities everywhere you wouldn't want them, so why do you care about this? Remember all those tech folks like Stallmann and whistleblowers like Edward Snowden who everyone ignored because they thought the things they were saying were dumb and that we didn't actually need to regulate anything? I do, I remember telling people this stuff was a huge deal in 2010, and being ignored by basically everyone I knew because they didn't want to take the time to think through the issues with allowing obscenely advanced, unnecessary image sensors., and microphone arrays which can literally generate real time 3D images of any space the device is in to be in consumer cell phones. Buuuuut no one listened, especially our politicians, and now we've (everyone, globally) been living in a surveillance state for at least a decade, and I think it's absolutely hilarious now that someone's actually trying to benefit consumers with this technology, people suddenly have a problem with it. The people who will do bad with this technology already use the sensors in your phone to record all the data the orbs collect, and a whole lot more. Educate yourself about the technology you carry around with you before you clutch your pearls about this kind of thing.
