I purchased my Avata2 the day it was released and haven’t flown it yet. However, after seeing your video, I want to say thank you for keeping it simple and just going over the settings. I feel confident and ready to fly now. Great video bro!👍🏾
just did my first FPV/Avata 2 flight. Man it was fun! Felt like I was quite good off the bat in beginner mode lol. They really made it easy. Can't wait to fly more. This thing is amazing
Nice review as usual. I always enjoy your videos. Got my Avata 2 five days ago and really enjoying it. Real View 3D only works when PiP is off. It gives you a "3D" view of your surroundings through the goggles. Totally agree with you about fun vs. having all the perfect specs. The Avata 2 is a lot of fun to fly.
Also does anyone know how to have your default resolution on TH-cam set to whatever your recording is. This default at such a low resolution and forcing people that don't know how to maneuver in the TH-cam app to raise the resolution is horrible and really annoying. I do it second nature but for other people that are watching your video or other videos it's frustrating big time
@@pianomans1 because DJI drones have support for the employment of Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) it is easy to upload your drone’s video output to many video services. I use the livestream option on TH-cam and Twitch the most. If you have knowledge of the basics of RTMP utilization you can pretty much send the drones video output almost anywhere…. If I’m broadcasting a LIVE search mission and want to reach the maximum audience I typically will use Facebook. This gives the search agencies ability to have exponentially more eyes active in the real time search.
Something that's probably painfully obvious that I'm just missing - How do you connect the goggles to the DJI Fly app on the phone wirelessly? I've flown with the phone connected via USB to the guggles, but that's the only way I've found to get the "Go Fly" prompt where it recognizes the drone for takeoff, etc. I saw at least one review that mentioned that you connect wirelessly, but they didn't say how (probably because it's dead simple).
It’s not dead simple, but it’s quite easy. Just enable it in the goggles from the top menu, then open DJI Fly on your phone, and the first screen will show the option to connect to the Goggles 3 or connect to the drone for file transfer. Just choose goggles.
We’re not going to give up on you Russ! We all want you to have fun and one day in Manual Mode Fun 🤩. If they didn’t tease you good sir? It would only mean they didn’t care about you! 😊
On the transmission screen if you put your goggles into broadcast they broadcast on that channel to anyone who has a set of goggles can then go to their audience mode and pick up your signal and see what you're doing. I'm kind of shocked you didn't because they've had this on all their goggles I use it when I go places where other people have the goggles and I tell them to pick up my channel in audience mode and they can see my flights as though they were the pilots. I even have another pair that I bring with me and give them to people and tell them let's go for a ride along. Very good for training other people how to fly since you can see everything they do.
@@51Drones The older goggles will most likely not do the audience mode of the 04. So until more people get them I doubt that will be used very often unless a group of avata pilots show up in one spot. When I go to events where I'm doing chasing I give the second set of goggles to one of the spectators so that they can see the event as I see it from doing the chase videos. I also tell the spectators that if by chance they have a set of goggles that my drone is always in broadcast mode so they can always tune into the signal by going to the audience mode and they'll see my channel lit up and then they just selected and they start seeing the display. One of the first changes I did to the Avata 2 drone is that I turned that feature on right off the back
Have only flown Mini 3 & 4 Pro for months. Getting my first Av’2 FPV soon. I guess there’s no battery saving way to learn/make all these changes you did, (what I always am concerned about) I worry about overheating something just standing there making all the needed changes…Mine should be here next week, already getting anxious for my first flight precautions. Thanks.
Great video, thanks! About to purchase Avata 2, God willing. Is there ANY simulation app that works with the Avata 2 motion controller? I just want to practice for long periods and not be limited by my drone battery life.
Hey there! Great post! Hey, been desperate to figure out if it’s possible to get the voiceover like you’re doing in this vid. On the Mini 4 pro you can plug a USB-C mike into the controller. You said you were using your iPhone so that’s different than what I’m trying to figure. I have had a terrible time getting the Screen Record from the goggles because of the password mess getting the password put it. Must be a simpler way! Thanks!
Hey Russ, Thanks for your usual great content. In the specs they say that you can shoot in H.265 and .MOV. I have yet to find where those settings options are.
Hey, i have a question for you. Last year I got my hands on the mini 2 se and it’s been great. But I am thinking of upgrading to a more capable/more fun drone. The options I am considering right now are between the Air 3, Avata 2 or wait for the Air 3s. I have had some fun with the mini but it looks so fun to fly and fpv drone. I would like to get your opinion on which drone you would recommend😄
Make sure you upgrade your firmware before you take it out for the first flight. I didn’t, and because I didn’t, I wasn’t able to do easy acro. The option didn’t even show on the menu. So, upgrade BEFORE you take it out for your maiden flight. 👍
Thanks. Great tutorial. I may have missed it, but does it have the choice in settings to RTH or hover in place at loss of signal ? Or does it only RTH if signal is lost ?
Anyone having issues with astigmatism not being able to be corrected right on the goggles?? Manual says you can have lenses made with custom corrected lenses?
Thanks for sharing such informative videos, I have a little question though, I am not able to see the DJI Virtual fly app in my google 3, thus making it impossible for me to do the virtual flight simulator with my motion controller, dji avata 2 and my iPhone. Any guides on how to do this please? keep up the good job. Cheers
Does it take stills? How does the video quality compare to the AIR 3? Would you recommend getting the optional controller? Would this be a good choice for Real Estate interior footage? THX
I noticed that when adjusting the camera settings in the EV section, I didn't see a histogram that helps with the EV. I guess that's only used for DJI camera drones and not for FPV? I do like how the auto setting is like a hybrid of manual with some control over the settings. It's good that auto isn't completely locked out and you can make some adjustments, but it would have been nice to see a histogram. Oh well, maybe it can happen someday with a firmware update. Russ, thank you for the video.
Very informitive and to the point, no unnecessary ramblings, very professional.

throttle reverse to go back in the menu structure is a cool feature i love
Took mine on its first run today! What a blast! I like fun.
Broadcasting live to my TH-cam channel is one of my favorite features
Cool, share the flight LIVE.
How do you do that??? Can I only stream flight live to TH-cam?? Are there any videos on how to do that? Sounds really cool!

Another very helpful video. Thank You for posting it.
Hi Russ, did you find where to change h265 to h264?? Im loosing my mind trying. Online support is just clueless
I am receiving the dji avata 2 tomorrow,I am stoked 😃😁🤠
Me too!😄
Yall wrecked it
Just got mine today. Started raining as soon as I set it up
Thanks for the tutorial on getting around the Fly app. Very helpful, and thanks for sharing.
Thanks RUSS mate, great beginner video. Cost $2,000+ (AUD) Flymore. Looks like a lot of FUN!

Thanks for the info.
Good vid. 👍
Would be good to know how the still images are from this drone and whether you have some pro controls for taking photos, such as iso, exposure etc.
Yes you do. I may do a quick video with just samples of photos and video footage.

is there a setting for the RTH or hover or brake if the signal is lost and where is it at.like on a regular drone like the mini 4 pro
What is the button for on the left side of the DJI motion controller 3? I only get a sound out it when I push it.

RTH, Hover and Land. 👍
Can set altitude for RTH as well.
I have alot of software problems it seems as my files seemingly get corrupted when i transfer them
Hi Russ. So with the pass thru view on goggles does that mean you don’t need a V O ? Do you always need a second person with you to fly the avata 2 ?
Technically still require a VO when using goggles, unless you leave pass thru on all of the time, which is not reasonable.
Anyone having issues with astigmatism not being able to be corrected right on the goggles?? Manual says you can have lenses made with custom corrected lenses?
Does the avata2 need to always be connected to a mobile device, or is that just for initial set up?
Just the first time.
How do I move my googles footage to my phone or drone ?
yes finnaly
I thought about getting one but I don’t use any of my drones ever really.
How do show the map

this avata2 isn't really fast compared to any fpv high speed drone, it's actually way slower than the first release
Manual mode flys 67mph. 🤷🏻♂️
@@51Drones Yep, on DJi's website for manual mode it says 27m/s which equals 60mph but outside the US it's only 42mph (speed limit).
