Claypool is a pretty decent player, I would not disregard him by any means, this year I'm sure he will look much better as he joined the Bear's roster mid season. He will have more time with Justin and the offensive scheme and he should be a great addition to the offensive weapons, it's going to be a very exciting and interesting year for the Bear's and the fans this year. I am pumped to see how it all shapes out!! Bear Down!

I have no problem with anyone critiquing the Claypool trade, but either fans are idiots or they just choose not to add contexts to any explanation of things. Lol..I think Ryan Poles understood exactly what he was doing trying to get his quarterback a legit Passing Target/Play maker. First off the man only played seven games with the Bears and was also hurt for the majority of the games played, secondly the trade was made on November 1st. for all you "smart-asses" There wasnt any "32pick" invovled at the time it probably would've been in the 40's also the offer was the Baltimore Ravens second round pick originally which the Bears received from the Roquan trade which The Steelers where fine with until the Packers which are a division rival of the Bears offered their second-round draft pick for Chase Claypool, so now the Bears had to offer their draft pick to not only get Chase, but also keep him away from a division opponent; furthermore at the time no one knew the Bears would end up with the worst record when you had teams like Houston, Arizona Indianapolis, I believe even Detroit at that time had a worse record, so in hindsight who is going to know that the Texans will give away the first overall draft pick winning a pointless game against the Colts by virtually throwing up a Hail Mary. Idiots are quick to creative narrative just so they can sound intelligent, but actually are very misinformed with the lack of information. At the end of the day the Bears came out like Bandits trading the #1 overall pick which they should of never had anyway..for a huge draft Haul as well as getting a number 1 receiver DJ Moore to go alongside of Chase Claypool who still has a whole season to prove himself. So please stop with the false narrative like the Bears GM literally traded the #32 overall pick for a player that still was drafted maybe a little later in the second round in 2020 #49 overall to be exact, So even with that the Vaule still matchups Pittsburgh is not going to trade a player they drafted in the second round who has been somewhat productive for lesser value you guys don't make any sense.

I will say this to anyone who says the Steelers won this trade and fleeced the bears.
Claypool came to Chicago the middle of the season, so he had to learn the offense on the fly.
The bears o line was straight garbage so there was few plays Fields could make plays to him.
But when he did, Claypool made good plays.
He could have have played more if it wasn’t for the dirty play of Rasul Douglass.
With an improved line, other receivers like Moore and Mooney, and a full off-season to learn this offense, plus the improvement of Fields, all of you will eat your words.

If Claypool was in this draft, I would have absolutely no problem taking him 33rd overall. I would have loved it. Yeah, it would be great to have him on a full rookie contract but its not that big of a deal. Bears have plenty of cap space and he is a talented receiver. The Bears offense as a whole was atrocious and the passes/plays he received really weren't that great. Not near enough deep balls and outside fades that he should be getting every game. The Bears utilization of him was not good at all. I think Claypool will show his true colors if the Bears use him properly and do really well.

  • @keithfranklin214
    @keithfranklin214 ปีที่แล้ว

People dont take into account the circumstances. He was traded to Bears mid season. In his 1st game he drew what should have been a blatant pass interference which would have ended up winning the game against Miami. So not many catches in the game, but that should have been a PI at the end of the game in addition to the long PI early in the game. That was after 2 practices. Then in his 4th game with Bears he was having his best game and had 5 or 6 catches early in 2nd qtr and got hurt and missed remainder of the game and next 2 games and missed practices for 4 weeks. He was traded to play across from Mooney who went on IR after getting hurt at beginning of 3rd game together.
So moral of story. Didnt have offseason with Bears. Started slow not knowing offense. When starting to grasp got hurt and D was able to key on him with Bears best WR on IR. Impact should be much greater in 2023 with complete offseason and healthy again.

not really. at the time the bears were looking like a team that was gonna get the 4th to 10th pick overall. which means no DJ moore, which means Claypool being on the team is far more desirable. the bears just got extremely lucky and were handed the number one overall pick, which made their 2nd round pick extremely high instead of a pick around number 40(which is what it looked like at the time of the trade). plus claypool is still better than any WR that woulda been available around pick number 40 when this all went down. the bears just got lucky when they fully started to tank the season away for a better pick, and had the biggest fluke to end the season giving them the #1 pick. they werent in full tank mode when they traded for claypool, and no one ever thought they would be the 1st overall pick. people were hoping we would just sneak into the top 5.
you have to look at all the context. sure in hindsight it looks bad. but they had no way of knowing that they would end up with the number one overall pick and then they could trade that away for DJ moore, Darnell Wright, Tyler Scott, a 1st round pick next year and a 2nd round pick the year after that. but without them knowing they would end up with the 1st overall pick, which would then produce DJ moore and Tyler Scott, getting Fields some actual targets was a huge priority, and going for Claypool wasnt the worst idea at the time. it just looks bad now that we have DJ moore and Tyler Scott on top of the 2nd round pick being way higher than anyone thought it would be at 32 overall.

Not an 'over pay'! Alot of this undue critiism of Claypool is misinformed or, just hate! But he is neither a 'bust' or some wasted 2nd round '23 draft pick that was aquired to get him.
Claypool came to the Bears into 3/4th of a season already played not knowing their Playbook [for all that was worth] and then being asked to come up to speed on it.
Claypool is essentially the 2023 2nd round pick tho, with experience, which will make him somewhere between the relative phenom he was as a rookie and then slightly less than that, but he is not what most fans are complaing about.
Both Mooney and Claypool will star right along side DJ Moore this year, but the ones who are sh**ing on him won't apologize or admit they were wrong!.

@@charliebrown_24 that's literally only because of the decrease in passing volume and QB quality.
It has nothing to do with him.

@Kylian Mbappé hope so I'm not judging him after being in a whole new situation mid season. I really think him and fields are gonna do work this year.

Yes he is a still good.
He is a great WR 2
The problem is the passing offense is very low volume.
