What did Trump say about Africa: "Shit-hole" countries. Well it is turning out that the United States of America under "White" Supremacy Rule have been shitting on the idea of Democracy and the rule of law since day-one.
It’s not only all over for US farmers, US consumers would see inflation similar to the Great Depression. As Elon Musk correctly pointed out, interest payment on government debt is already at $1 trillion every 3 months. Soon it will be every 2 months and then every month. The only way the government can afford to repay its debt is by inflation. Brace yourself for economic chaos. Trump’s tariffs would simply lead to higher prices, thus fuelling inflation. He has no clue.
Tariffs work IF: The country on which you impose them doesn't have an alternative customer. You have an alternative supplier, including industry to provide the shortfall You can prevent the move to that alternative. You have other leverage, such as products the sanctioned country wants from you. . Well China now HAS that alternative market (150 countries!) Has generally better and less costly products to sell than alternatives (they WANT the Chinese products) USA DOES NOT have the industry to produce at home. and now we see the start of first China, then other countries saying "Thanks for the offer, but we found a better deal elsewhere" when USA tries to sell other products. First Grain... Next? Beef? . It doesn't matter WHO is in the Oval office when the music stops..... and it IS going to stop. . The concern is they may (will?) try force as a means to regain power.

If Trump is to tariff John Deere for 200%. They might as well allow Chinese farm equipment manufacturer in at 200%. Cause no one can afford 200% tariff on John Deere. @@leonvoltaire Yeah, that's what common sense dictates. The Chinese are doing it and it works well enough for them, cause bailing out a failing business never solves the underlying problem. But in the corporate west everyone at the top has their hands in each other's pockets, so they scratch their own backs and let the public pay the costs in the long term. The current generation of millionaires will die happy, but the problem gets kicked further down the line and only gets worse and worse. Thus economic decline.
What's funny is that the John Deere company took part in the manufacturing and spreading of the Xinjiang g-cide allegations, thinking it would help their business. This is how the US repays them!
Large American corporations being greedy has created many problems. Rather than using their money to fight government interference to competitive practices, they just pocketed the money. The American corporate mindset went from creating quality innovative products, to being no more than an investment industry. Maximizing investor profit without regard to the product or the people who buy the product is the norm. Destroying a company is okay as long as the right investors can bail out early with a ton of cash. Leaving the USA to exploit cheap labor rather than addressing these problems, is another way to keep this flawed practice alive. However, these things are unsustainable.
@@Newlinjim, I cannot disagree with that statement. However, the people of USA have changed. Also the media establishment has power greater than any time in human history.
Well said! But I would also add in "Kamala's tariffs" - as they both seem to think that tariffs will make the US more competitive. 😀
True
Tariffs work IF:
The country on which you impose them doesn't have an alternative customer.
You have an alternative supplier, including industry to provide the shortfall
You can prevent the move to that alternative.
You have other leverage, such as products the sanctioned country wants from you.
.
Well
China now HAS that alternative market (150 countries!)
Has generally better and less costly products to sell than alternatives (they WANT the Chinese products)
USA DOES NOT have the industry to produce at home.
and now we see the start of first China, then other countries saying "Thanks for the offer, but we found a better deal elsewhere" when USA tries to sell other products.
First Grain... Next? Beef?
.
It doesn't matter WHO is in the Oval office when the music stops..... and it IS going to stop.

If Trump is to tariff John Deere for 200%. They might as well allow Chinese farm equipment manufacturer in at 200%. Cause no one can afford 200% tariff on John Deere. That might even drive food price lower since 200% tariff on Chinese farm equipment is cheaper than John Deere equipment without tariff.

The system will attract "ambitious" politicians who see the opportunity for gain.
Those with the means will *exploit* the opportunity and make more profit as a result, easily sufficient to "Lobby" the politician AND recoup "Other expenses"
