I recently started watching OG dragon ball and just got to the king piccolo arc. I gotta say I get it now. I see why many put this above Z and Super. I know he achieves basically god status but there's something about him just learning the pure form of martial arts.
I just finished watching all of it and the fights are a hundred 100% better in the original dragon ball than they are in Z and later. My favorites are Goku vs Jackie Chun, Goku vs Mercenary Tao 1&2, Goku vs Grandpa Gohan, Goku vs Tien 1&2, Goku vs Krillin, Krillin vs Chiatzu and Goku vs Picollo(Jr.)
O_O That was badass. One of the single best Dragon Ball videos I've ever seen. And I am so glad you included Dragon Ball. Most people simply forget about that. The tournaments were some of my favorites parts cause it usually showed a lot more "actual" fighting than the beams fights against the main villains did.
Seeing the tournament for the first time in Dragon Ball was such an unforgettable experience for little me when I first watched it. The tournament arcs will always remain some of my most memorable parts of DB! Nice AMV, haven't watched one of these in a long, long time! :D

toriyama should have ended z with a budokai after the namek saga imo. nice little sendoff since he apparently didn’t wanna continue with the series after freezer from what i remember
