    Im so happy to have found your channel!
    My husband ( who is Parisien) and I will be returning to Paris in late Fall.
    I love my Faure le Page bag as well as my LV bags.
    However, I heard the hype about Polene but I am not one to wait on a line to enter a store.
    I did get in touch with Polene’s customer service to ask questions and they never responded.
    Le Tanneur did. I’ll be heading to both Maison Pourchet and Le Tanneur.
    Thank you!! I just subscribed to you!!

    Agreed on polene, i have 3 of them, and found it to be trendy rather than quality indeed. Now that i m older i do appreciate craftsmanship and leather quality rather than just a design. I feel much more put together with beautifully crafted bag rather than a mere trendy bag. Although, i can appreciate polene for its better quality leather compares to other american brand within the price rage.
    Thanks to you i m putting le tenneur on my want list.

    I have a 30 year old Le Tanneur bag in my cupboard. I used to live in Paris and when I was living there I used to pass the store every day. When I knew I was leaving Paris, I plucked up the courage to go in and ask to try some on. I decided to buy one and asked the assistant if I she thought I should buy the black. She thought for a good while and then said that at my age, she felt I could permit myself the navy. Navy it was then, and although this bag rarely gets used these days, I will never part with it.

    I was in Strasbourg a month ago. I walked by the Le Tanneur store there. I saw a bag in the window that I very much wanted to go back and look at but our tour was leaving. So I read all about them online. I ended up buying the Emilie and received it a week ago and I couldn’t be more pleased. Then I discovered your post here and I feel even better about getting it. 😊

    Finally something true to my experience) I was queuing for so long to get into their Paris boutique so when I finally got in I felt an urge to buy smth. Wasn’t impressed at all by the quality, glazing issues were present almost on every bag, display items looked so worn. But psychologically I paid so much time that just had to purchase smth) so I got a cute micro bag which I won’t use often. Thank you once again for your honesty and independent opinion 😊😊

    Another smaller brand in this price range I’ve been really impressed by is Fleuron. They’re a bit more expensive than Polene, but the quality difference is absolutely worth it. They have a smaller range of styles, but the leather they use is on a completely different level - in terms of touch and feel, it reminds me more of a slightly lower-grade Hermes Togo, rather than the artificially embossed leathers most other brands use in this price range. None of the stretching and wear seen here. My only complaint with them is their somewhat haphazard application of the edge coating, I’ve seen it run onto the leather itself a number of times, especially on the straps; but thankfully there aren’t the same cracking issues as with Polene’s.

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I’ll try and find them next time I’m in Paris. Application of the edge coating is haphazard but it doesn’t crack as easily right?

    • @schafer_r

      @@SoAnesu Yes exactly! I have one of their Magnolia bags and have been using it almost daily as an easy grab-and-go crossbody, and haven't had any issues with coating cracking or wear on the leather. Only thing I've seen some ladies mention is that a few of their designs have folded leather corners without feet, which makes them more prone to wear over time.

    Thank you Anesu for another interesting video. You are clearly impressed with the quality of the Pourchet brand and they do look lovely. I was wondering therefore, what is stopping them from being in a higher tier of luxury? Is it purely their price point or is it quality or craftsmanship?

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching. Generalising but they don’t have the big budgets LVMH and Kering for example have to push their bags and they rely on people walking into the store or word of mouth to spread the good word about the brand.

    Thank you for the honest view on Polene. As I understand, their problem is more about the manufacturing/craftmanship, but their leathers pretty decent for the price point. Or you would disagree? Polene to me is very confusing: on the one hand, there is a big hype on social media about their bags, and bags owners praising Polene as a higher-tier luxury brand. But on the other hand, there were customers reviews on Reddit about serious quality issues within this brand. It's very hard to figure out when not having their physical store in the area. By the way, thank you for recommendation of Pourchet bags!

    • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not convinced when it comes to the leather at all! The textured maybe I would need to look at it again but smooth calf skin no way I would put my money elsewhere. There is a lot of hype on social media but it doesn’t match the quality. I wouldn’t do it!

    I am truly enjoying your videos and am working my way through them like one would a box of chocolates! :) Perhaps you may have done this already but I would love to see a video talking about age in relation to handbags. It's probably a difficult one to tackle given many folks would argue that one could wear any bag at 'any age' ... but I would be very interested in your thoughts & recommendations. Have crossed the 50 threshold and am getting sensitive (right or wrong) to age appropriate attire and accessories. Thanks again for all your due diligence in your videos - so damn refreshing!! • @SoAnesu
      @SoAnesu  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. No I don’t think it has anything to do with how you take care of it how do you explain the exhibits I used? It’s the poor quality of the leather and basic craftsmanship. I’m guessing your bag is the textured leather? You will say I’m being a hater but your saving grace is a heavily processed piece of leather that wouldn’t have worked in its natural state hence the processing. Around corners / pressure points the edges? May you continue to enjoy your bag.

      What I’ve heard is people who have had polene before the internet exposure had a better quality. After everyone ran to order before the price increase had a different experience. Sounds like they were rushing to get orders out and quality started to suffer. They need to go back to a waiting list like RSVP. Their bags are very uniquely shaped and that’s what attracts me..

      @@SoAnesu I have the smaller numero neufs and they are made very well. I don’t baby my bags and they have held their shape and colour very well. The leather has gotten softer over time and the edge coating has held up. I can see that coating showing wear moreso in the next 2 years.
      The only thing I have to try and look after are the bottom corners since there are no feet and the edge coating since once it comes off, it’s hard to fix at home. The only thing I’m not a fan of but can understand is the price increase.
      If picking a polene bag I would recommend to look at reviews because almost all designs have cons at the expense of their beautiful shapes. For now and hopefully for a while, I’m in love.

She is looking for a simple, minimalist day bag just to take phone, sunglasses, wallet etc - no big labels etc and is finding it difficult. They either seem too small or too large as she is tall - any recommendations? Months ago, I got the Polene Tonca cause I like to have full textured leather and so far it’s working out nicely for me. I did notice however when I acquired the bag a weird almost metallic smell when I first opened it (and it still gives off this smell cause I put it in it’s dust bag and box after using it) overall though I like the feel of it as well as how it’s held it’s shape. But these designers that you listed, I’ll definite look into these as while I love my tonca, I definitely want to buy a brand that not everyone and their mother is into and polene is definite getting to that level now. @SoAnesu I have indeed and returning. I don't trust to have anything else

      What a shame. No company is perfect and from time to time issues do arise. If you said this is the 2nd/3rd time I would be very disappointed but if we cut off a brand the first time an issue arises there wouldn’t be a single brand left.

    I love the aesthetics of polene but I hate how every influencer has them. It’s a turn off for me.

      I think it maybe how you viewed the video the volume is consistent on all the videos. I tried on numerous devices and it was fine.

    Your comments re Polene agree with so many others - quality has declined
