Landmarks of the City: Cable Cars

1980s documentary on the history and (then) current operation of San Francisco's famous cable cars.
Filmed in 1982 by local cable, just before the shutdown and rebuild of the entire cable car system. (See "They're back!", about the 1984 re-opening of the system.)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful old footage of the cable cars and city streets filled w/ fabulous vintage rides. I'm so grateful I was able to live there for a few short years; and wish I could somehow return again....
