HELLO EVERYONE! My skin is not so dry and not so oily. I use hyaluronic acid, and I want to clear up small acne spots and minimize my pores. Should I buy vitamin c and also niacinamide from The Ordinary? Would it be too strong for my skin?
I’ve never seen you review The Ordinary Glycolic Acid. I use it but only once a week cause it packs a MEAN punch! But I will say that I have noticed a huge difference since I have converted to chemical exfoliation vs physical. Watching your channel makes me sick that they didn’t have all of these great products when I was in my 20s. But you have NO IDEA how helpful you have been in educating me on modern products. Thank you and I’ll be waiting to see what you think! ♥️
I’ve used TO niacinimide & Buffet now for about six months alongside retinol in evenings & the HA moisturiser & my blackheads have completely gone. My congestion is basically non existent. I still get dry under my eyes but I switch up their caffeine eye solution with my Charlotte Tilbury one & I am able to manage it. I’m honestly so impressed. I’m pretty fond of their foundation too & their peel! Basically, I’m an Ordinary junkie.
How often are you using it? I used it once every week for a month then I’m starting to use it twice a week now. I’m wondering if I can still up my usage to 3x a week.

Yesss James I needed this video! 🙌🏽 I have a quick question though. I have VERY oily skin and wanted to get the Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% and the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 to stop me looking shiny throughout the day. Can I use them together in the mornings and evening? And if yes, which one do I put on first? Thank you!
I've been using Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA since three monthes and it is amazing... It is really brightening my skin and reduced the view of my darkspots by 40% I really like the ordinary skincare products because it is cheap and effective... ¶AHA 30% is relied to have a soft glowy skin ¶Niacinamide 2% + zinc for acne-pron skin and it works well
I use it in combination with Azelaic Acid, my skin has never been better, almost all of my melasma is gone, I am so happy it REALLY works, these products are amazing.
Eli Lian so glad you found a winning combo! I heard such good things about the azelic acid so bought it but can’t figure out where to put it in the routine. Where do you use it?
@@katebainbridge I use it every other night, I alternate between using retinols one night and Azelaic acid the other. Eli Lian brilliant. So no moisturiser? I think that’s where I was having the issues since it’s got quite a similar consistency to moisturiser. Il have to try this out! Thanks! X
Can I take sun baths after using the 10%-1% even if I didn’t apply it now? I mean I use it at night before going to bed but now after the shower “technically” I don’t have it on...so can I take the sun?
@@muhammadmoaz27 Just dab slightly on your problem areas. Dont rub it in. Might appear cloudy with a sticky residue for seconds. Will be vanished soon.
My review on some of these products: I’m a teen and I have dry skin with hormonal acne Niacinamide: decent on acne, good for fading pigmentation and scars, if you don’t have a good moisturizer it can leave this flaky crusty patch where you applied it (this only happened when I used it in the morning tho) Caffeine under eye cream: really good and could see a difference just be careful with it cause it burns when you get it in your eyes. Rose hip oil: gave my face a FANTASTIC glow HOWEVER it broke me out and I ended giving it to my mom with oily skin. She also has a bunch of scars and cystic acne and she used it all up but I didn’t really see that much of a difference except her skin became pretty soft.
Hi James! I love your videos. Did you use the Lactic acid 5%+ HA 2% or 10% + HA 2%? I want to buy it, but I'm not sure. I saw so many videos.. people has a lot of opinion so..
I love their Natural Moisturising Factors (moisturiser)! It takes a few seconds to rub into my skin and it leaves my skin plump without feeling oily/greasy at all. I'm on my second tube of 100ml of the product. Definitely my go-to moisturiser 🥰
@@rika5977 i have dry-ish skin, some mild breakouts still (33 yrs old), and i love the moisturiser. perfect for summer time (light-weight, non-greasy). if u live in harsh/cold/windy climate, may not be rich enough - or you could add a few drops facial oil :)
I have dry, sensitive, reactive skin and I also love the moisturizer.. Even though it has a thick consistency, it doesn't clog pores or give you bumps on the skin 👍🏻
Hey James thanks for introducing me to The Ordinary. Your video actually kicked me to up my skincare regimen. So to anyone whose reading this, this is how I do mine. I was just wondering if I should change the order or if I am doing something wrong. Please do comment. :) AM: wash face, toner, Niacinamide 10% in Zinc 1%, then buffet, then HA 2% in B5, then moisturizer PM: wash face, toner, Buffet, then HA 2% in B5, then Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and finally moisturizer.
I'm glad to know you use salicylic acid daily too, I've been just applying to t zone as well! A lot of people believe you should only use 2-3 times a week but I feel my skin needs and can handle it. It really helps in my congestion. Also a huge fan of HA & Niacinimide, I no longer have to blot my oily skin throughout the day because of them. Thanks for the review, I love the ordinary!!
Great review, your skin looks flawless! My skins quite dry and I get the odd hormonal blemish. I'm also starting with fine lines on my forehead. Would anything from this skincare line help?
The niacinamide broke me out in a huge rash across my chin and jawline. Make sure to patch test! I was disappointed because it seems to work for so many people.
It has very high percentage of niacinamide, it stung my sensitive skin badly. But i tried other product with niacinamide (5%) and experienced no stinging. Do not give up on niacinamide, it is wonderful!
@@AudreyNataliaKosmar I love love love TO's Alpha Arbutin + HA, The 30% AHA + 10% BHA. I definitely learned a lesson with the Niacinamide, and will patch test from here on out. I've been dealing with this pesky rash for over a week now ;/
Love them♥️ Also for everyone wondering, you can send them a message with your problems and they suggest a regime, or if you already have some products but don't know how to use them(what order) you can send them a mail and they help you:)
"The Ordinary is a brand I think everybody knows of by now" Well of course. I've known about it ever since yesterday, because you mentioned it in another video.
I agree 100% with the Salicylic Acid. It's been doing wonders with my acne. They heal wih half the amount of time and it dries them efficiently for me. Will always be on my skincare. I was meaning to buy the AHA/BHA but I think I'll do some research and look for other brands... As always thanks for your videos ^^
I love the Salicylic Acid solution as well! It is such a great acne treatment. I already been Salicylic Acid based products, so I didn't have any problems with the acid solution.
Hi James, love your videos! Been on a binge and just hit subscribe :) Question: you mentioned niacinamide being a brightening ingredient and could potentially suppress melanin production. Is this product safe for us POC with more pigmented/naturally melanated skin?
Do you still use the ordinary hyaluronic acid since you’ve tried the Hada labo? I recently bought both the normal and premium hada labo one and they have changed the whole game!
NightmareVictoria Of course! I ended up buying a sample size of the normal from eBay then a full size of the premium but I will definitely buy the full size normal. In the day I use a few drops of the normal and it’s so light, sinks in quickly and doesn’t stay tacky like the ordinary. I also found that with the ordinary I was putting on a few layers to get the same feel that I was with one application of the hada labo. In the night I use 1 or 2 max drops of the premium and it is so luxurious and hydrating. Considering the size of the bottle I can’t see me ever reaching the end of it! Really recommend. I have combination type skin with occasional hormonal acne for reference and dont find either of them break me out. A lot of info but hope that helps!
My skin is loving the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% at the moment. I've heard mixed reviews about it, with the formulation breaking some people out but I can't say the same for myself. I have also noticed a difference on my nose and I get less acne on my chin now (which feels so much smoother!). Love it!
Actually, the 2% Retinoid the ordinary has stands for HPR - hydroxypinacolone retinoate - which is a gentler form of vitamin A but yet effective. In the 2% Granactive Retinoid , you’re getting 0.2% HPR. HPR is a fairly new ingredient in the skincare world, if you compare to the famous Tretinoin. But this new type of ingredient same to show pretty good results with zero to no irritation (gold standard, right?) and it does not have to be converted to Retinoic acid in our skin (which retinol does have to). So, the thing is that there isn’t many studies in this ingredient, but until now it shows to be really effective. I’m Brazilian BTW, so if there is anything written wrong, please feel free to correct me :)
Its sticky and takes long to get absorbed and seriously when i used it on my face at night the next morning I had little painful bumps all over my face don't know y i had high hopes for it i didn't use it again bcz im scaree now
Ordinary products for some reason don’t do much for my skin. The only product I quite like for dark spots and hyperpigmentation is Alpha Arbutin from ordinary. And trying niacinimide at the moment and lactic acid.
I just started using TheOrdinary and I´m officially a believer! I have combo skin currently dehydrated so I got the Lactic Acid 5% (because I am combo and I produce whiteheads), the "Buffet" serum, the "B" oil and the natural moisturizing factors and I actually love them all! I thought at least one would be a flop but no, I would repurchase all! I like this brand's mission from the beginning and I do hope Estee Lauder understands that they should be more like TheOrdinary and not the other way around. Also a new James Welsh follower and fan
Mariana Martínez I have very dry skin and The Ordinary's Lactic Acid (I'm up to 10%), Buffet, and Niacinamide are my holy grails! I have repurchased all three many times (and tried a lot of other brands, I always come back to The Ordinary). If you are after a cost-effective Vitamin C, try Timeless Vitamin C. It's fantastic. I have a $5 off code "HF5OFF". They make it fresh and it works so well. Cheers.
@@jennym007 I'm definitely getting the Niacinamide 10% next plus some others, and will repurchase everything I have now. I'm officially a fan 🥰 BTW I really recommend the "B" oil for dry skin.
Yesss... niacinamide is my favorite fron TO too! Currently trying out salicylic acid and so far I love it! Btw, do you prefer to apply the salicylic acid with fingers or cotton pad?
I love how you explain how the products you use work wonders on your face. Its very evident the outcomes on your skin. Now I am also a user and fan of The Ordinary product, and it works so good on my skin. Ive never had a bright glowing face before, though I have few acne blemishes, but they dont matter that much now because my pores and texture is improving everytime I use. Anyway, Im using glycolic 7% toning solution from The ordinary. I am loving now the ordinary products tho i haveny tried yet the other products. Thank you idol
So far, the only skin care channel I am obsessed with! Love the upfront honest reviews! Just a question though, can I use the Niacinamide and Retinol serums one after the other? Like after cleansing my face, use Niacinamide, then put on retinol? Thanks in advance!🥰
Lactic, salicylic and glycolic are all forms of exfoliants so I wouldn't recommend using them in the same routine! They can be strong so if you're new to acid exfoliants I would start by using one once a week then twice a week and only increase to more than twice a week if you really think your skin needs it. Each has different properties so it would be useful to look up the properties and use according to what your skin needs. For example hyaluronic acid is for hydration rather than a chemical exfoliant so using this alongside any of the above is fine but you may want to alternate your exfoliants weekly so using salicylic one week and glycolic the next.
Hi James, do you have any videos on The Ordinary Caffeine 5% + EGCG? Is it good to have it for dark circle? Do this review too since we love ordinary! 😊 🌈 ❤
Thanks for the headup guys! Eye cream is such a difficult product to beat won’t you agree! The eyes area are just too stubborn hahaha.. Hi James! I use the hyaluronic acid with a spray mineral water too. I also use the buffet, the niacinamide, retinol, alpha arbutin(as a spot treatment), moisturizer (sometimes), and the caffeine eye serum (we already chatted about that one) in my skin care rotation. Oh! And I put a few drops of Rose hip seed oil in my evening moisturizer. Have a great day!
i love their l ascorbic acid powder, i just mix it in my moisturizer twice a week and i’ve seen such a big improvement in my skin, not only that but it lasts me for such a long time at the greatest price point i could ask for!
Hi seph, does it sting at all? Did you have any initial purging? I'm so tempted to get the ascorbic powder to add to moisturiser too, but have heard that it's very abrasive and harsh.
Hi! It's a very helpful video. Thanks. The way you defined the products and their usages is amazing. But I want to know that if I am using these acids for the very first time then how would I use them. Once in a week? And can I use these products together.? Please help me know these things. Thanks in advance.
I got so many of their products. I have an oily/ acne prone skin. I got glycolic acid, alpha arburtin, niacinamide, salycilic acid, azelaic acid and rosehip seed oïl. would recommend them all.
Light For Ever hey! Honestly no. However i started with niacinamide for like two weeks, it helped with the redness! Then i introduced the glycolic acid to my skincare routine, i only use it in the PM though, and i feel like my skin is kinda brighter and less congested to be honest. I use salycilic acid on pimples ONLY in the PM. I was very scared to use them especially the glycolic acid but i honestly love it now.
@@Kristina-ix9cm Heyy! Yes sure. i cleanse, then use the glycolic acid + alpha arbutin + salicylic acid as a spot treatment only when pimples show up and then moisturize/night cream. Okay so I have a few questions I really need you to answer. Btw love all your vids keep it cominggg 1.) Is it okay to use tea tree oil after using hyaluronic acid and niacinamide and then after that aloe vera gel? 2.) Hello James! Can we use them as a layer? For example, we apply the salicylic acid first, followed by niacinamide + zinc 1%? I hope u can answer my curiosity! Thank you :)

hey! Did glycolic acid irritate your skin?
I found you like 2 days ago... I'm so addicted now.

What percent of retinol did you start? Did you try their squalene cleanser how's it?
Can i use together the niacimide and the salicylic??
*The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid* toner is Life! ♥♥♥
I love it too!!! It doesn't irritate my skin 😍
Can't live without it !

¶AHA 30% is relied to have a soft glowy skin
¶Niacinamide 2% + zinc for acne-pron skin and it works well
I use it in combination with Azelaic Acid, my skin has never been better, almost all of my melasma is gone, I am so happy it REALLY works, these products are amazing.
Thanks! X

Omg I can listen to you for days, you have such a soothing voice 😍 loove the content of video too☺️
thanks so much :)
James, which order should these be put on at night?? Is it the order in the video?
James I love how polished you look, I just can't stop staring at your face
My review on some of these products:
I’m a teen and I have dry skin with hormonal acne
Niacinamide: decent on acne, good for fading pigmentation and scars, if you don’t have a good moisturizer it can leave this flaky crusty patch where you applied it (this only happened when I used it in the morning tho)
Caffeine under eye cream: really good and could see a difference just be careful with it cause it burns when you get it in your eyes.
Rose hip oil: gave my face a FANTASTIC glow HOWEVER it broke me out and I ended giving it to my mom with oily skin. She also has a bunch of scars and cystic acne and she used it all up but I didn’t really see that much of a difference except her skin became pretty soft.
Rosehip oil gave me a purging period, too, for a few weeks. But it cleared up my humonguous pores on nose like nothing else. Bye bye blackheads
I hate when the Niacinamide becomes crusty
Hi James! I love your videos. Did you use the Lactic acid 5%+ HA 2% or 10% + HA 2%? I want to buy it, but I'm not sure. I saw so many videos.. people has a lot of opinion so..
I was searching for a video to the ordinary but no one talked about when to use these products. So thank you for explaining that so well :)
I love their Natural Moisturising Factors (moisturiser)! It takes a few seconds to rub into my skin and it leaves my skin plump without feeling oily/greasy at all. I'm on my second tube of 100ml of the product. Definitely my go-to moisturiser 🥰
Wow, glad it works know you. Can I ask what's your skin type? I'm thinking to purchase the moisturizer though.
I found that it balled up a lot on top of other products, I didn't think it was anything special
@@nunpho it does to me too! I can't figure out why.
Hey James thanks for introducing me to The Ordinary. Your video actually kicked me to up my skincare regimen.
So to anyone whose reading this, this is how I do mine. I was just wondering if I should change the order or if I am doing something wrong. Please do comment. :)
AM: wash face, toner, Niacinamide 10% in Zinc 1%, then buffet, then HA 2% in B5, then moisturizer
PM: wash face, toner, Buffet, then HA 2% in B5, then Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane and finally moisturizer.
Did you experience purging with salycilic acid?
Does niccinamide helps for oily skin type since summer is almost here i am very prone to acne????
Hi, do you need to rinse off your face witg water after using the salicylic acid??
Great review, your skin looks flawless! My skins quite dry and I get the odd hormonal blemish. I'm also starting with fine lines on my forehead. Would anything from this skincare line help?
The niacinamide broke me out in a huge rash across my chin and jawline. Make sure to patch test! I was disappointed because it seems to work for so many people.
joint no sleep yeah it was either sacylic acid or niacinamide that made my chin and jawline peel a little. Hopefully their other products work.

"The Ordinary is a brand I think everybody knows of by now"
Well of course. I've known about it ever since yesterday, because you mentioned it in another video.
Just found out today
Never thought that I'll binge watching youtube videos...it's day 3 of watching in middle of work breaks, love it!
You should try BHA first if you're unsure because it doesn't cause the same sensitivity to UV as AHAs do!
Kabzo B tell me more!
NightmareVictoria
Of course!
Love it!
Glycolic acid is great. I love the aha/bha especially when I'm experiencing a breakout. Don't leave it on your skin for more than 10mins.
Honestly i think the TO 'Buffet' is like their hyaluronic acid-serum, but better! You should try it.
Loved the video, as usual!

I mean ur skin is literally glowing so I’ll take ur word for it ✨
Question: do you use them ALL everyday or every day you use one and the next day change it?
Lactic, salicylic and glycolic are all forms of exfoliants so I wouldn't recommend using them in the same routine! They can be strong so if you're new to acid exfoliants I would start by using one once a week then twice a week and only increase to more than twice a week if you really think your skin needs it. Each has different properties so it would be useful to look up the properties and use according to what your skin needs. For example hyaluronic acid is for hydration rather than a chemical exfoliant so using this alongside any of the above is fine but you may want to alternate your exfoliants weekly so using salicylic one week and glycolic the next.
How long would it take for a product to last? It is a 30ml right. I'm curious about how often I am going to buy in a year.. btw great video review!❤
