My latest project is building steps into a rocky hill. Stick around til the end so you can see a couple of curious deer I came across when I was collecting stone for this job!
beautiful. Did you have steps there before at one time? the video looked so easy like you were just scraping off dirt and overgrown grass on first part of video.
These look amazing. Would you be willing to share in text form the steps afer the excavation and laying the rock. I’d love to recreate these in our yard but am sure of which products are used during each step. Great job!!!!
Thanks for watching! There is text in the video that explains the materials. The risers are basically a mini rock wall built out of stone, mortar (4-1 mix of sand and Portland cement), and rebar. For the landings, I used a fine gravel called screenings, and then tamped it flat.
It's my client's back garden; he has a rocky hill in the back of his property. It IS like a little secret garden! Yeah, it was a fairly big job, I think there were 10 or 11 steps! I'm doing more work there, stay tuned!
Ahh man I wish I could hire you right now in my backyard to do this exact step style. How much you think you would charge someone to do this at a property. Maybe 8-10 steps ?
I don't even remember how much I charged for this job, but it was 8-10 steps or so. I wish I could do the job for you. Where do you live? Anywhere near Victoria BC?
Ty for not talking over your work... yoy let your work speak for itself and i love that... good job!
Exactly!
Finally found the perfect plan for the slope in my yard! Thank you!

Yes, I had to remove old steps that had wooden risers and artificial turf treads.

@@gordchapman3469 thank you so much. I am excited to give it a try. Thanks again for the beautiful project.
Nice
those deer wants to join the building hehe
They were wondering what I was doing with the stones.🤔😆
@gordchapman
Did you form the concrete tread or buy them. They looked formed on site but I can’t tell. Nice touch
I built them in place from stone and cement.
Hi, on the landings is cement mixed with the fine gravel? Good job it looks beautiful!
No, it's a gravel called screenings; over time it becomes like cement as it settles and compacts over time.
@@gordchapman3469 Thanks for your reply!
Who's yard is that, it's like the secret garden. wow you really made a lot of steps there, that was no small job.
