The homies from Cuatro Flats head down to Whittier Blvd. for some old school cruising fun. Early 1980s or possibly before as the police had begun to limit cruising in the late '70s.
I miss cruising with the homies looking for girls. I'm from Texas. We had our own cruising spot ; somewhat like Whittier. I guess all the chicanos in our country were inspired by California.
Read into the history my guy Texas New Mexico and Arizona all contributed to the Chicano scene theres a reason El Paso is known as El Chuco it inspired the pachuco look.
Whittier blvd is a Chicano landmark, we didn’t have to worry about nothing just make sure we look firme, nice and ironed up from top to bottom, razor sharp...and looking for the rucas with the tight Levi’s or the lovely hair when rucas use to care about how they looked, it’s all over now..but memories live forever...viva la Raza..I viva eastlos1...
You ain't lying about them razor sharp! My big sister(8 years older than me) would ask me to help her starch and iron her corduroys on the dining table over a towel and use a plain shirt under the iron. Her Levis creases were stitched. Me as a then punk 9 year old kid never understood the creased corduroy pants since they already had lines... ahhh the 70's.

im from texas and back then my mom and her friends would go down to the blvd. and see all the lowriders cruising bumper to bumper unfortunately not anymore cause people complained traffic jams and wat not but from time to time you would see a lowrider cruisin down the streets which puts a smile to my face yep
