With people that haven't seen "I'm on Observation Duty", "Exit 8", or anything anomaly based, people would be lost in what to do, in which some instructions from the creator would've been helpful (like put into the beginning of the level). Luckily I've seen a lot of horror let's players, so it became apparent to me after the third room and seeing Pangea's confusion.
I think the first level is mimicking the game "Exit 8" Where you go back if there is any anomaly and keep going if everything is the same, cool short game and i think the level did it well Edit: Probably should've watched the rest of the level before commenting Also i think the screenscroll mimics the anomaly of the sign saying something different than normal
During that exit 8 level I thought maybe the ?-blocks in the screen scroll room would be different than in other rooms so I checked the program. Turns out it's actually the brick block on top that's different. It contains coins whereas all other brick blocks are empty. So unless you ground pound or maybe long jump into it, there's no way to know. It could still be that the creator let the screen scroll up as a secondary abnormality since that's easier to see.

It’s always wild how much popularity what I think are niche/under the radar games seem to get. Exit 8 for example is a simple but excellent little horror + spot the difference game that I only found out about thanks to ManlyBadassHero. That first level was honestly a pretty good representation of the game within the confines of Mario Maker especially the Room Counter element. It’s just that if you’d asked me what recent game I’d expect to see a recreation of in Mario Maker, Exit 8 would only have been very low on the list just because I didn’t know it had blown up in popularity so much. Previously felt the same way in regards to Only Up which I’d only found out about after seeing it mimicked by a level that either Panga or Thab played but I forget which. After that I saw GrandPooBear’s Only Up run & from then on it was dominating my recommendations lol
