As a Mavs fan I agree. There is a reason why experience is so important in the Postseason. If your players, and more important coaching staff, learn some lessons from this run, the Thunder will be right back next season and for years to come. Just a small example. The last challenge was a mistake by Daigneault. Cause even if Washington makes both, a 3 wouldve still won you the game. But thats over. Overall I would be shocked if the Thunder do not reach the finals in the next 2-3 years.
This game could have obviously gone either way. While game 4 would have probably gone to the Mavs if they make their freethrows at an anywhere close to normal rate. They shot 12 of 23 (52,1%) at the line, even Kyrie missed a freethrow that game, yikes! I think the Thunder team can be proud on how well they played this season and in the playoffs. I think they had a bad matchup, but it was certainly possible for them to beat the Mavs. They would also have had a way better matchup vs the Clippers and a slightly better matchup vs the Nuggets, so the way the seeds worked out wasn't too much in their favor. We will see them be even better next year, in the strongest and deepest conference we've ever seen.
The Thunder has a very bright future. They can easily make changes and add pieces that will push them to championship status as soon as next season. But as far as the series goes, I'm happy the Mavs won. I never doubted Luka and Kyrie skill or experience when matched against a team of early-20 somethings.
Spurst first need a true Playmaker, better shooting and wing defense. They have a view years to go. For the next 2-3 years I see the Thunder on top, with the Rockets rising and Dallas still being dangerous. Cause a lot of the Dallas core (Luka/Washington/Gafford/Lively/Green/Hardy/DJJ) is also well under 30 and they have a view good years left together.
yeah. it hurts for you but just happy you talking about em. okc a dangerous team going forward. great vid man. cant believe mavs won a series where luka is playing hurt and nerfed. kyrie looks happy in dallas too plus the moves the mavs made on the trade deadline and drafting lively was great.
If you consider this Mavs team is a lot better than the team before their Gafford / Washington trade, I wouldn't call it much of an upset. It is more a bad matchup for them, with the very good paint protection of the Mavs completely choking off the team that relies on driving to the basket more than almost any other team. The Mavs are also a little bit too big and despite Lu Dort being an amazing player this playoffs, Luka Doncic is just a bit too much for anyone to handle. Unlike in the first round, where the refs didn't bother to call any of the obvious fouls he made on Ingram, he actually came into foul trouble nearly every game against the Mavs. Luka is just a little too smart and actually shows that he is being fouled all the time. They didn't call even HALF of it, but still enough to make Dort not able to completely throw Luka off. It also helps that however strong Dort is, Luka is strong enough to play through it and can also outplay him with his handle if he really needs to. Looking back and reflecting on the Ingram vs Dort matchup, I think Luka just got away with way more, probably because he is a little sneaky about it and probably because he still one of the biggest stars in the league. Ingram never showed when Lu Dort was fouling him, or even completely hanging on his hips and when he tried to push off a little to create some space, he got the offensive foul called against him almost every time. I think the refs should make some changes with this for next season, as clearly fouls should be called the same way, not by how much you react to it. If the defense is allowed to be extremely physical, the offense should have the same option, you cannot call the game in an inconsistant way.
I absolutely hate all the hate that is given to this team. They’re young, and getting eliminated in the second round is kinda expected by a young team. They just happened to end the rebuild faster than we expected and win 57 games. As most like to say, haters gonna hate, but OKC will build off from this season and do something special someday.
They don’t have the talent acquisition iq like that. Djj played for the bulls and Pj played for hornets so they got overlooked 😂 Gafferd came from wizards so yeah you have to have a good as eye to know who to get from those teams.
@@leastattractiveEveryone knew PJ and Gafford were damn good role players trapped on bad teams DJJ is a career journeyman who went from a career non existent shooter to Ray Allen so that’s simply just tough luck

4:41 4 free throws but on 7 attempts. From what I’ve seen I think Luka is a lot better than Shai. I think people are really high on the 2 way play of SGA and rightfully so. However, many times I felt Shai isolated for too long and was not able to make the right read instead was more on hero ball. A couple easy passes to Chet for the flush were missed as he rolled to the rim. With Luka he’s bringing the best out of all players on the floor. Luka’s playmaking puts him on a completely different level compared to Shai.
Congrats on a truly amazing season and series to the Thunder from a Mavs fan. The Thunder are ahead of schedule and they are going to be a problem over the next decade at least.
I said it before the series and after game 1... You underestimated how important EXPERIENCE is in the Playoffs. We missed a key role player, Luka is nowhere near 100%, your team is more talented, you had the best player in the series and we still won. If your players and coaches learn from this experience, you will be right back here next season and for years to come. This year was just to early. I am sure we meet again. Untill then, I wish you all the best. You are in a great situation and I am curious to see what your franchise will do in the next view months.
Experience isn’t the reason okc lost though all the points you made okc can easily just say well okc couldn’t make a 3 okc have a better team but the matchup itself wasn’t good the playoffs in general is all about matchups the higher seed don’t always advance
@@Wrestle_Kingdom And experience (mental strengh cause you've been in those situations) has nothing to do with 3P shooting? Or the different gameplans? OKC was willing to give up corner 3's to crowd the paint and prevent Luka/Kyrie from beating them on drives. They gave up the most corner 3's in the entire league. And also like 15-20 open 3's every game in this series. If you give ok-good shooters a ton of open looks, at some point they will shoot lights out! Dallas had a completely different gameplan. They tryed everything to run the Thunder off of the 3P line, or at least contest as good as humanly possible. I agree that the matchup wasnt the best for the Thunder. But would Denver (great 3P shooting team, bigger, stronger as well) be a better matchup? Or the Wolves (Ant is 10 times faster then Luka, McDaniels an even better defender then DJJ and Gobert/Towns/Reid would dominate the boards even more then Dallas)? The Dallas gameplan just worked a bit better then yours. We tryed to keep the role players from going off, but allowed SGA/J-Dub to play 1on1 basically every posession. One guy was great, the other wasnt. Coincidence that SGA ( 3rd PO run) was the one who played great and J-Dub (Po rookie) was the one who wasnt good? Or played Experience a role in this? You tryed to take the ball out of Lukas/Kyries hands and gave our role players the open shots, hoping they miss enough to win. Well, they didnt.
@@Smido83 all of what you said had nothing to do with experience also the main guys hitting 3”s was pj and djj and those two are not good shooters at all I agree the mavs gameplay worked better but again okc still got good looks just couldn’t covert Mavs played great all credit to them but I the experience thing is so overblown consider the series was still close all it takes is 1-2 open 3”s to fall and this series is completely different the only player I would say experience played a factor in was jdub because he was terrible offensive everyone else I don’t think so
I'm going to be honest: I don't like OKC's coach. He might have gotten coach of the year, but I think he fiddles too much and adjusts too little - the theme of the playoffs, IMO, corner 3 problems and rebound problems were not entirely addressed. Maybe next season will convince me he's good instead of above average. I think the roster bailed him out a little bit, even without experience, they are a group of very capable players. If talent can be all retained (which I doubt), next year will be just as good.
@@Wrestle_Kingdom And 1 or 2 less silly TO by Dallas and the series is over in 5... point is, they didnt make those 3's. Part of why was our defensive gameplan, part of it was lack of experience and nerves. Experience plays a role, if you belive it or not. There is a reason why a team as young and inexperienced as the Thunder never made it to the Conference Finals. 3P shooting is as much mental as talent based. Does it get into your head if you missed a couple and then get a look late in a game, or not? And once more, you also saw the missing experience in coaching. You had one gameplan and one gameplan only. Give the Mavs role players open shots, but stop Luka/Kyrie from getting looks. Washington is a career 35% 3P shooter, and he is capable of hitting open uncontested 3's on a good basis. And DJJ did not shoot well overall. 1st game 1/3, 2nd game 1/5, 3rd game 0/3, 4th game 1/5 ... but if you constantly get completely open looks, at some point even below average shooters will get into a rythm. I am not even sure if DJJ took one truely contested 3 all series. At some point your team shouldve tryed something different after Dallas roleplayers made some shots. But I am not sure your team can play different defensive systems. Thats also something experience gives you. But whatever. You think experience is irrellevant, I think its extremely important in the Postseason. Now your young guys and coaches got a good ammount. Lets see how they use this in the next years and see what they learn from this.
As okc fan they exceeded my expectations now in terms of the off season I don’t think they going to make any big moves outisde of extending some guys and maybe trade for a vet I hope okc draft kel el ware or Daron Holmes and then trade Giddey for a big forward Deandre hunter,DFS etc This team just have to develop together and continue to improve
You say that like they manhandled OKC, every game was close except for the first game lol. OKC is coming back next season and with this experience, they are securing 60+ wins. Luka is gonna get bounced in the conf finals and then what? Run it again with a 5th seed caliber team? Mavs are not as good as people are hyping them to be.
You released a video 2 weeks ago talking about how the Thunder proved all the doubters wrong by beating the Zion-less Pelicans and the Thunder fans jumped on me for questioning what exactly they proved in the first round. I once again ask how did the Thunder prove people wrong this playoffs?
@@marcoscruz16 SGA was great, he was getting single coverage most of the time to fit Dallas’s planned scheme and he made them pay. But the team as a whole did not do anything to shut up the doubters regarding their inexperience.
@@aarondeatherage7678 i agree i think he’s js saying the future is bright if jdub is what some people think he can be and they add some rebounding and another creator/shooter
I'm almost sad the series is over, despite that the team I like most won. I expected the Thunder to maybe win this game, so the final game 7 could be the deciding one. Still, we can look back at a fun series, despite nearly everyone underperforming except SGA and Washington, due to the insane defensive activity of both teams. OKC has a bright future, they were much better than everyone expected and could have very well made the WCF if they had a slightly better matchup, or a little more consistancy with their offense. They swept a not 100% Pelicans team quite handily, who despite missing Zion and having a not yet 100% healthy Ingram, still are on the of the strongest defenses in the league. I was very impressed by how good the OKC defense was, they were a lot better than I expected. SGA looked like that MVP runner up he was this year, being incredibly clutch and having an insane midrange game. (adjusting to the paint defense of the Mavs) I'm not too worried about anyone else, even Giddey might just improve into what they hoped him to be. J-Dub is already a fantastic player, Chet and Cason are just incredibly talented rookies, showing almost no signs of their inexperience in these playoffs. Dort, Joe, Wiggins, J-Will, they have a very deep roster with a lot of good players. With their treasury of picks and enough room on their salary cap, they can go for an ever stronger run next season. I just hope they don't go for someone that is ruining their amazing chemistry and keep most of this core intact and don't gamble on someone outside of the organisation too much.
Wtf is this…. Might as well rename the video “Thunder Fan Coping.” 😂 It’s a horrible take to omit that Lively is actually the younger one instead of Chet 💯 Then you forget to mention that Luka is younger than SGA 😮💨 Let’s not forget PJ is also barely 25 🎯 Cry harder bro 😂😂

Bro the mavs fans I’ve dealt with are so annoying. Blaming the refs the entire series. They have a solid team, I wish they’d just admit our Thunder team played them tight the whole series instead of making an excuse.
I saw this coming, but predicted OKC to be ousted in round 1. IMO, the secret sauce might be drafting Edey to add bulk along the frontline. This would allow Holmgren to free range across positions.
They could use a little bulk. With all these lengthy guys, they are relying on a very short Dort and J-Dub for actual physicality. Giddey could do well in the weightroom maybe and Chet will be better over time, but still .. it is a very flimsy team compared to most.
Hell Yea! Great WIN for the MAVS!! 1,2,3 Disney World, NO Cancun for you kids! Some much for Jenny and the new kids on the block! JLo and JDog are a JOKE! And The Dorkster is a CLOWN! should be in WWF with all the Flopping and Flag Fouls! Karma is what got the Punk OKC delinquents what they Deserved! No more Dorkster trying to feel up our players! Dort was amazing in these playoffs. He shot incredibly well from 3 and defended and rebounded at a very high level. I don't think you should move him to the bench unless they have an equally versatile defender that can shoot. (spoiler: they don't)
@@marcoscruz16 Well, I rectify/clarify myself, I should have said he had a low FG% in the Dallas series overall. His FG% was better in the Pelican's series, as he was left open a lot. But he did shoot 39% from three the entire playoffs, which is still really strong if you consider he took 64 threes, quite a few. That is pretty solid for a guy that is mainly in there for his amazing defense. Ofcourse he didn't stop Luka, but he did slow him down quite a bit and made him less efficient.
@@pinobluevogel6458 honestly he’s a great defender but the main reason luka was kinda slow in the first few games was bc bro was playing on like 4 injuries
@@marcoscruz16 True, we saw him veer back when some of that intensive treatment is starting work for him. I don't think he can be slowed down much when healthy, even by a good defender.
This mentality is very flawed and a lot of players talk about it, you think every year your gonna be right there to win it all and then it doesn’t happen or things don’t fall that way so we’ll have to see
OKC should try trade for John Collins, since his deal is only 2 years the risk would be minimal and if they want to trade for another guy they can use his contract and Giddey, it is a really solid deal
Players I think Thunder should try to trade for before next postseason: Deandre Ayton, mikal bridges, Brandon ingram. Trade Giddey and some of your picks. Chet could put on weight and become more physical which would make it less necessary to go get a big but based off how he played in this series they need another rebounder. Either way, they shouldn’t make too many moves until they see how this team improves next season.
I agree with him on not rushing anything this season though needed to let the kids experience so adversity but now that window is wide open and he knows now what we all knew that this team needs more size down low but the offensive rebounds killed us and cost us the series without shooting the lights out u got to rebound so we need a big that can bang get boards but can still space the floor and another shooter and like i said it be over for the league easy
So Cone, I can make a proper case and breakdown if you're curious, but for the sake of brevity, I'll just ask: what would you think about trading out Dort, Dieng, Giddey, and however many draft picks it would take to get Sochan and Bam? I know that does nothing for the spacing, but I'm confident Daignault and the shooters can figure out rotations, matchups, and positioning
@seanaes And that's kinda where the idea falls apart. There's value in the Clippers picks since they're not getting any better, they can give Miami back one of their own picks, and have some other, less desirable firsts outside of those, plus maybe the Heat think they can turn Giddey and/or Dieng into good players, and Dort himself has trade value, but there's a good chance that's just not enough, even if the Heat really are done with Jimmy and should be rebuilding (don't know what I think of those rumors). Point being, it's mainly a theoretical move they could make while giving up minimal rotation players
Honestly the whistle was on sgas side all series dude was launching into defenders and getting away with it. That being said they are young and will only get better. Luka on one leg was incredible albeit not efficient. Good series imo
Definitely not putting the blame on any one person, but I wish Jdub didn’t wait until the 4th quarter for a lot of these games to try and start contributing
of course it sucks to lose like that but okc still had a great season and no one expected them to do all of what they did so they will be back in the playoffs competing for a long time
Why are Thunder fans saying shai is a good defender? He was getting cooked by pj and they had to get him off of him. He had a few blocks from helping on Def but let's not act axt like he is a lockdown defender yall are freaking nuts. Blocks dont mean you are a good defender.
Did they have a real shot at conference finals? Idk about that. American media focuses too much in the regular season stuff. This was an inexperienced team that has a shot next year, but this year it was just hope making people overvalue regular season results. Next season I expect this team to be in top 3.
Okc fans shouldn’t be mad they are a young team only going to get better and better also remember they have a lot of picks that they can use for a superstar but yeah it does suck for them to lose after that foul how it went but okc has a lot of picks 😂don’t forget !!
see see thats what u get when u start the game (playoffs) in easy difficulty then suddenly it becomes expert mode... but OKC fought well.. no shame there ✌
Peotic justice? SGA losing by free throws. Great team, they will be. Guys get older and get more defensive. Then dude think about Sha getting a passing game. Even though I believe they would be better with another point gaurd. Giddy should have just been a passing and defensive guy but oh well.
Well if it was a no-call Kyrie got the rebound and laid it in so no matter what we’re up 1 and more than likely win anyways so let’s no hyper focus on that call there guy.
I'm glad OKC was finally eliminated to shut all the OKC championship contender nerds up because your window hasn't even started yet. Ya'll need to be careful how long you wait around for because your championship window will be shorter than what most OKC fans will realize because of that alien in SA. When that mf has an actual team, it will be OVER for OKC. Sam Presti will need to use those damn picks *IF* necessary to get you guys over the hump.
Regardless the next 2 season we will run the league as long as presti addresses the needs another big that can space the floor and another shooter and i don't think anyone can stop this team from a ship other than the man that cost us one the first time around lol 😂 i believe hes learned his lessons

Takes alot of class to give credit to an opponent that beat your team. Good on ya Cone
What about chet rebound problem and the whole team rebounds as well?
That's gonna be the off-season focus, I'd say.
Bro shai is a MACHINE
Bro both guys that killed us on Dallas we could of got
They don’t have the talent acquisition iq like that. Djj played for the bulls and Pj played for hornets so they got overlooked 😂

@@leastattractiveEveryone knew PJ and Gafford were damn good role players trapped on bad teams

Shout out to you cone y’all got a bright future did better than I ever yall would this season
@@Smido83 all of what you said had nothing to do with experience also the main guys hitting 3”s was pj and djj and those two are not good shooters at all I agree the mavs gameplay worked better but again okc still got good looks just couldn’t covert
Mavs played great all credit to them but I the experience thing is so overblown consider the series was still close all it takes is 1-2 open 3”s to fall and this series is completely different the only player I would say experience played a factor in was jdub because he was terrible offensive everyone else I don’t think so
I'm going to be honest: I don't like OKC's coach.
As okc fan they exceeded my expectations now in terms of the off season I don’t think they going to make any big moves outisde of extending some guys and maybe trade for a vet
I hope okc draft kel el ware or Daron Holmes and then trade Giddey for a big forward Deandre hunter,DFS etc
This team just have to develop together and continue to improve
This team needs a rebounder. It could be a center, it could be a PF.
Need a rebounding big for the offseason, Some options would be like JV, Nance, Adams, Edey, Clarke just to name a few
I'm going to be honest, I don't like Nance, even if he could work in this team specifically.
All those names are terrible and wouldn’t help okc at all
Jarrett Allen would be a great option for OKC

But I can be proud of our team for fighting until the end. Beats getting blown out.
My goal before this season was to make the league respect us. I say we accomplish that 😤
THUNDER UP 🌩️🌩️
Also I still miss Trey Mann

That's a good suggestion. Getting Edey won't be easy though.
@@VeteranVandal they could pick him at pick 12
They could use a little bulk. With all these lengthy guys, they are relying on a very short Dort and J-Dub for actual physicality. Giddey could do well in the weightroom maybe and Chet will be better over time, but still .. it is a very flimsy team compared to most.

They perhaps need a big and another star like player(or someone on the team to rise to that level)
They really need a C and better scoring option at SF. Move Chet Holmgren to PF. Relegate Dort as an option off the bench
Dort was amazing in these playoffs. He shot incredibly well from 3 and defended and rebounded at a very high level. I don't think you should move him to the bench unless they have an equally versatile defender that can shoot. (spoiler: they don't)
@@pinobluevogel6458he didn’t shoot well but he should be like a sg the team is kinda undersized except for shai

In the playoffs having some depth curveballs to throw at opposing teams can be the difference.

Braindead take
I thought Joe and wigs are on team options? Do we lose bird rights of we take the option?
Getting both? Seems unlikely, gotta be many picks.
Heat aren’t trading bam lmao especially for that shit
@seanaes
And that's kinda where the idea falls apart.
Sorry, I know OKC is your team. Must be heartbreaking to see them eliminated😕. But they’re young and can only learn from the experience✊🏾⚡️
I went in wanting Dallas to win . But the thunder made me question that . I expect Shai to get at least 2 mvps and 1 championship in his career

Honestly the whistle was on sgas side all series dude was launching into defenders and getting away with it. That being said they are young and will only get better. Luka on one leg was incredible albeit not efficient. Good series imo
Definitely not putting the blame on any one person, but I wish Jdub didn’t wait until the 4th quarter for a lot of these games to try and start contributing
of course it sucks to lose like that but okc still had a great season and no one expected them to do all of what they did so they will be back in the playoffs competing for a long time
They are capable of winning multiple rings that’s should be their goal

Of course we want every game to go our way, but if this is the worst we’re going to be for the next 5 years, count me IN.
Did they have a real shot at conference finals? Idk about that. American media focuses too much in the regular season stuff. This was an inexperienced team that has a shot next year, but this year it was just hope making people overvalue regular season results. Next season I expect this team to be in top 3.
Giddey, their picks back, and more draft capital to bring back PG.
