Very good interview. I am Jasmine's mother and when she told me she wanted to become a HoneyBee I was not for it at all. I didn't let her know of course, but we supported her 100 perfect. The reason I did not want her to become one is because I knew people would pick on them because they're plus size. My main goal as her mother is to protect her by any means necessary. The girls held their own and I couldn't have been more proud of them. In my opinion the ASU HoneyBeez has made their mark and have prove themselves.
With hearing all of this, and I’m pretty sure your child has had complaints while on the team over the years did it ever come to mind as a parent to step up and go to the Board of Directors of ASU Or confront Dr.O at least??? Because ima step bout my child and don’t give a fuck who they are

As a former Title IX Investigator, it sounds like you should find a Title IX report with the school based on the gender-based discrimination you describe in this interview. If the school or Title IX Coordinator does nothing, you can file a complaint with the EEOC or Department of Education. Also, it sounds like you were placed on hold as a result of filing a complaint against your supervisor. That is considered retaliation under Title IX. Definitely speak with your legal team about a Title IX and retaliation complaint.
I really hope she sees this. It takes one person to bring it up the legal chain for this to stop. What she described is a classic hostile work environment
Title XI did get involved but fell to investigate the issue properly. They only reached out to two students and fell through with collecting information. The students were in class, but when calls were returned and messages were left she, Sabrina Crowder Simmons, Title XI investigator for ASU, never returned any calls. The administrators then being (allegedly) threatened the students about speaking out and started bullying the Honeybeez to get them hated again and quiet.

You can tell this woman has a heart of gold and has a giving spirit, it’s so disheartening to hear and see what that organization has done to her and many other black women in the past. Dr.Oliver as a man and mentor to those children should be ashamed of himself and relieved of his duty as head band director,I just don’t understand why as a grown man are you mixed up in women business pertaining to the Stingettes and honey Beez, that’s what the coordinator/coach is for. The parents need to be a little bit more proactive because it would take God himself to get me off of Dr. Oliver If my child ever told me, he said those Hurtful things about my child.

It’s a bit concerning that the Stingettes have an extensive history of not maintaining sponsors. I truly hope this stops as well as this 3 yr rule. New sponsor, large crab class; every year it’s so annoying 😢. It’s tiring learning all these crab’s names 😅. I cherish vets who make their mark.

And we can't forget Stingettes typically also had a history of a notoriously late audition in mfing Aug, Im so glad they AT LEAST started doing auditions a bit earlier, because it wasn't always like that.
This was a very good and amazing interview Mrs. Williams. The Honey Beez always looked so professional, beautiful, very talented, and the uniforms were so unique. Mrs. Williams was a great coach for the Honey Beez for years. The Honey Beez field show was one of the best. The Stingettes this year had the entire package, beautiful hairstyles, made up, uniforms was amazingly done, dance routines were great and excellent performances. Kinda knew they were gonna create a problem with her once becoming sponsor the stings. God is in control and will bring you into better opportunities. ❤️

A lot of parents and family want to know what type of things their daughters may be going into if they pursue HBCU dance. These interview really help to mentally prepare people. Spiritually preparation is always necessary for these kids. I feel bad for the band members.

Everything this woman spoke of occurs way too often amongst Black People. We love to have at the expense of others sweat. Way too many times people who clear the forest don't get to enjoy the fruit which comes up from the broken soil.
Quickly became my top 3 interviews by far. I’ve always wondered the true stories of what goes on behind the scenes and it was so obvious administration is very harmful. You can tell simply from youtube videos. The vet return rate is horrible, sponsors leave every year, alumni are on MUTE. but this woman didn’t lose faith and she seems like a very bright light. felt like a hug listening to her talk ❤️

Great interview. This was one of your best interviews Morgan. I’m so happy this has to come light. I think we can all agree that changes he need to happen with the whole ASU band org. It’s not fair how these are being ran and it’s not a good look that they can’t keep a consistent coordinator. Also, $4,500 a YEAR is a ridiculous. Like I feel her when she says pay me fairly because that’s not fair anywhere when that much time and energy is going into a job. Not to mention you she was over 2 teams! All in all. I’m glad cats out the bag. Ollie needs to go. It’s time, respectfully.
She deserves more than that and any other coordinator they give up so much of their time hard work and dedication and time away from their families to be there for other people children. They need to be paid a good salary
@Anna_Marshae, Who forced her to take the position with that pay rate? She made a decision knowing the pay, so someone needs to be fired because of a choice she willingly made? She could have said no or demanded her worth.
@@Rod3820that’s goes for everyone who took the position. When she took the position she was told it would part time and plus they were getting paid for filming at that time. Also, I’ve heard others say he kept promising the staff more pay but blamed it on the school for not granting him the budget. The writers only gets way less then that. Most of them stay to protect the students and help where they can. It’s so much more to this story.

So many things have happened at ASU since 14 & it’s insane to me that nothing has changed this whole time when EVERYBODY can see it. You don’t have to be a student or work there to see that the administration is not doing something right.

😭😭 I was so looking forward to seeing her this season especially homecoming. She has always been that Woman. Since I’ve walked on the campus of ASU she stood out to me.
How he & the staff handled 2019 was atrocious. I believe they manipulated issues; mixed with preexisting issues from prior seasons. I don’t believe it’s all Janae & Jada at all. They body shamed & shaded Jada in Yaz’s captain reveal video. Dr. O said “Stingettes have to be a certain weight & fit etc.” Imply Jada was cut at tryouts due to her body. It was huge uproar because we know is elite. They play in these ladies faces. Same thing with Princess being cut in 22’; like HUH?

I really want to petition getting Dr. O out the there. Not sure who makes that final call but his behavior is disgusting. So disheartening that young women have to deal with that and they’re just trying to finish school while showcasing their talents.

I was a little late for the live but just finished watching. I’m in awe of this conversation. I’ve been following the Honeybeez since Quarantine when they had their Snapchat Series and omg I just loved them. Despite everything that has happened, she still spoke life into both organizations and into the ladies that will be performing this season. That’s how you leave your mark. No matter the situation, you do it with style and grace. Wow. I didn’t want the video to end but I definitely feel some sort of closure to what was a great season last year.🤍

This is super sad what they did to this woman. She had a great season with both teams last year. And she has served the HONEYBEES very well for the past 10 years. The president, the border of trustees the dean Dr. Oliver all of them should be ashamed of themselves! I also seen where a lot of people were saying that these parents why aren’t they saying anything? They’re not saying anything because they want their children to be there so bad and if they open up their mouth, then they will not allow their children to be in the program. It couldn’t be me because if it was my child, I’ll be owning Alabama State University for the crap that they have done to a lot of those girls in that program. I watched Shadimond interview and how they treated her through that program ain’t no way! I will be owning Alabama State University. As a Honeybee Alumna, trust me, we’re here and we do as much as we can!! Because we know what those girls face, we do show our faces, make those connections, exchange contact info, and they know they can call their alumnae for ANYTHING!! Miss Williams also pulled us in to help with certain stuff as well. With admin you can only do so much about that when the school won’t do anything about it we’ve spoken up on several occasions.

I am curious about the circumstances surrounding the basketball dance team 'The Hornets', who performed a single routine and then ceased activities. They appeared highly skilled and synchronized. What was the outcome of that situation?
Dr. Oliver and Bridgette had it shut down along with Dr swoop who was all in cahoots with them to stop that basketball dance team. Those girls and Miss Williams didn’t do anything to make them wanna shut that team down it was pure jealousy and hate.

I remember during the interview Ms. Crowley had with Ms. Oatis and Worthy during the 50th and expressed that their budgets were really low, thus why Ms. Worthy created a lot of the uniforms we see the squad wear till this day despite them being 15+ years old; although some of them get remade.

ASU band org. It’s not fair how these are being ran and it’s not a good look that they can’t keep a consistent coordinator. Also, $4,500 a YEAR is a ridiculous. Like I feel her when she says pay me fairly because that’s not fair anywhere when that much time and energy is going into a job. Not to mention you she was over 2 teams! All in all. I’m glad cats out the bag. Ollie needs to go. It’s time, respectfully.

She deserves more than that and any other coordinator they give up so much of their time hard work and dedication and time away from their families to be there for other people children. They need to be paid a good salary

She made a decision knowing the pay, so someone needs to be fired because of a choice she willingly made?
She could have said no or demanded her worth.
@@Rod3820that’s goes for everyone who took the position. When she took the position she was told it would part time and plus they were getting paid for filming at that time. Also, I’ve heard others say he kept promising the staff more pay but blamed it on the school for not granting him the budget. The writers only gets way less then that. Most of them stay to protect the students and help where they can. It’s so much more to this story.

So many things have happened at ASU since 14 & it’s insane to me that nothing has changed this whole time when EVERYBODY can see it. You don’t have to be a student or work there to see that the administration is not doing something right.

How he & the staff handled 2019 was atrocious. I believe they manipulated issues; mixed with preexisting issues from prior seasons. I don’t believe it’s all Janae & Jada at all. They body shamed & shaded Jada in Yaz’s captain reveal video. Dr. O said “Stingettes have to be a certain weight & fit etc.” Imply Jada was cut at tryouts due to her body. It was huge uproar because we know is elite. They play in these ladies faces. Same thing with Princess being cut in 22’; like HUH?

I was a little late for the live but just finished watching. I’m in awe of this conversation. I’ve been following the Honeybeez since Quarantine when they had their Snapchat Series and omg I just loved them. Despite everything that has happened, she still spoke life into both organizations and into the ladies that will be performing this season. That’s how you leave your mark. No matter the situation, you do it with style and grace. Wow. I didn’t want the video to end but I definitely feel some sort of closure to what was a great season last year.🤍

Well done Anna! The girls were amazing. I am a Honey Bee fan! The uniforms were cute and the counts baby! Those Honey Bees gave attitude. I loved it they are all beautiful. I have always loved the Stingettes too! I would like to see more of the Honey Bees. They work to hard not to be featured more in the HBCU dance world
They deserve their flowers and they deserve their PAY.

This is super sad what they did to this woman. She had a great season with both teams last year. And she has served the HONEYBEES very well for the past 10 years. The president, the border of trustees the dean Dr. Oliver all of them should be ashamed of themselves! I also seen where a lot of people were saying that these parents why aren’t they saying anything? They’re not saying anything because they want their children to be there so bad and if they open up their mouth, then they will not allow their children to be in the program. It couldn’t be me because if it was my child, I’ll be owning Alabama State University for the crap that they have done to a lot of those girls in that program. I watched Shadimond interview and how they treated her through that program ain’t no way! I will be owning Alabama State University. These parents should be ashamed to just want their daughter to have 15 minutes of fame, but allow their children to suffer through this programs. Crazy R Kelly vibes!!!

As a Honeybee Alumna, trust me, we’re here and we do as much as we can!! Because we know what those girls face, we do show our faces, make those connections, exchange contact info, and they know they can call their alumnae for ANYTHING!! Miss Williams also pulled us in to help with certain stuff as well. With admin you can only do so much about that when the school won’t do anything about it we’ve spoken up on several occasions.

I am curious about the circumstances surrounding the basketball dance team 'The Hornets', who performed a single routine and then ceased activities. They appeared highly skilled and synchronized. What was the outcome of that situation?
Dr. Oliver and Bridgette had it shut down along with Dr swoop who was all in cahoots with them to stop that basketball dance team. Those girls and Miss Williams didn’t do anything to make them wanna shut that team down it was pure jealousy and hate.

probably not alot either they dont have to buy many uniforms because they have set uniforms they wear, they might buy a few for the season and then shoes and boots thats it

I remember during the interview Ms. Crowley had with Ms. Oatis and Worthy during the 50th and expressed that their budgets were really low, thus why Ms. Worthy created a lot of the uniforms we see the squad wear till this day despite them being 15+ years old; although some of them get remade.
