The School of Aquaponics I ddnt believe it at first. I want to thank you for the many lessons that were precept upon precept. It's because of your teachings that I know I MUST endure until the end...shalom.
i saw this vlog almost one year later it was pubblished... Congratz for the state of mind Brooklyn !! Really happy this tragic event has boosted Carlos entry too!!! Thanks for sharing guys. Ciao from Italy
First of all, LOVE the fly swat. Glad you kept it in there. Second, I'd love to see the next stage. I go strait to Reticulated Open Cell Foam Sponge above a trickle down bio-filter that I have to clean out (a lot). I haven't wanted to spend on stuff that I just throw out (like poly-fil), so I have been washing the bio media and the foam (with tank water) and doing water changes. My plants (tomatoes and zinnia) are doing fine with this. But I know I am missing some components.
Dude, this is a knowledge that needs to be easily spread around. I've been watching your videos for weeks to learn the most I can and it has been very useful and appreciated. Being broke myself, I find it difficult to be purchasing a lot of books surrounding Plant Biology, Fish Biology, Hydroponics, Aquaponics, plumbing and architecture. Even more so to buy tools and equipment. If it wasn't for my work providing me with funds for tools and supplies I would never have had the opportunity to build my first Set up. Knowing you have a book with your specific insight is amazing, but are you aware that this book you said was limited edition is currently going for $250 USD on amazon?! I very much want to get into this trade as someone who sees this as a stepping stone to a better future. Do you think you would be willing to Make another batch of these Manuals and sell them at an affordable price? I recognize and appreciate the hard work you put into this and your craft, however Passing along wisdom to the next generation to make change is priceless. No one wants to be a Biscuit Headed Grower, and everyone wants a better future for our children.
Michael you are the best! thanks for your dedication and support to the aquaponics community. You should really consider opening a patreon to help yourself grow bigger and reach bigger audiences!
To filter the solids at the bottom of fish tank can i use another pump placed inside fish tank? The outlet of the pump will go to a mesh filter then back to fish tank.
You rock Brooklyn! Can't wait til the course is ready (September 3rd, 2017?) In some countries 09/03/17 means the 9th of March because it's DD/MM/YY timing.
Have you considered using a inclined plate filter? I know that they are more work to construct but they give even better results. I plan on making one when I build my setup. You can get many times the settling area in the same footprint by simply using the viscous boundary layer forces of inclined plates.
you should do a video on how to filter the solids that fall to the bottom of the fish tank. has to be a better way than vacuuming. a tank that has a wet/dry filter underneath
Brooklyn, that is technically not a radial flow filter, a radial flow depends on the water swirling to drop the solids out, but this looks like an easier build, more intelligent and and efficient settlement filter than any homebrew radial flow that I have seen, including my own.
Yes, indeed, and after snooping around the web a bit, I see that this is generally called a radial flow filter now, I learned about swirl filters back in the 80s, and since "Radial Flow" correctly means that the flow follows the arc of the radius, (as it does in a swirl filter,) I never looked into the difference, I assumed they were the same. NB When you AssUMe, you make an Ass out of U & Me... ;)
Just a couple of things... 1. Yes you can give us all the AP god secrets otherwise what is the point of these great videos. 2. OK, I know this may be hearsay but I think I may have a better idea on how to filter out the fish poop and this video just gave me the idea. You are going through a radial flow filter but then you are running the "junk" from the RFF thru a filter sock before the water goes back into the sump. What is the point of the using the RFF if you are going to use a filter sock anyway? Would it not be both simpler and more efficient to just use the filter sock ILO the RFF? Seems to me the use of the RFF becomes an unnecessary redundancy if you are going to use the filter sock anyway. I look forward to your feedback and from anyone else with relevant comments. Bill
I watched you try to slap the fly about 8 times. Because the first time I swore you slapped yourself. Not once did I see where the smack noise came from. Anyway. Nice Tips and Tricks. Very cost conscience. Thanks
You did it again: use a plugged power drill to drill a tank filled with water... Not sure it is a good example of work safety. Apart from sharing the concept of what is an RFS, you do miss an important point. But I am sure you will do a video for that too. Keep it up
Love your good knowledge you share with us but your NUTS 🥜 using that drill plugged in around water like that LOL really hope you don't get electric unit so you could keep given us great knowledge
You are wasting a lot of energy with that pump. You really should look into using gravity as much as you can. If you raise your system higher, you can clean you tank of the sediment with a swirl system.
We don't mind you sharing the secrets. You rock. Thanks for replacing several of my tv show time slots with your videos. :)
+Derrick Bowman Thanks!

Your videos rock. I've been interested in aquaponics for a long time but your channel Inspired me to put together my first system earlier this summer.
I appreciate you for sharing your journey. You are helping so many!

Yes, you have brought Aquaponics to a whole new level for me and I appreciate your expertise. Thank you
You're very welcome Robert!

Congrats ! on your new book.......this is very good information. Looking forward to learning how to build one of these.
I like the high energy
thank you I'm trying to credit you properly in my school work
Your s great instructor thank you
The aquaponic god BLESSESSSSSS UPPPPP
Tell us where we can go to buy the class!
how can I send you a blueprint. thank you

Hey David, yes you're correct it is September 3. Thanks for reminding me that the dates are different in various parts of the world!
Lol!! You are crazy bro! thanx a lot for sharing all that info. God bless you!!
Just found your channel... Nice....
Thought you were too hyper then realized I had my speed set at 1.25! Great channel Mr. B
recent subscriber. Love your energy and explanations.
Thanks Marica and welcome!

Do you have any info on this Michael? I'd be interested to see what this is?
great brother..
How do i sign up to the course, im having trouble getting started
+amari Mahdi the course will be available for enrollment of September 3rd. You can enroll at that time.

Always the best AP GOD ;)

You're referring to a swirl separator, which is slightly different from this type of filter.

Yeah I popped myself on that clip. The fly won that battle.
They usually do. Till they dont. Lol Thanks for the video
very confusing for me i would have appreciated an explanation of how the system actually works
