Actually (pushes up anime glasses) since none of Odysseus’s men received proper burials they had no money to pay Charon to cross the Styx into the Underworld. They exist on the bank of the Styx as spirits and ghosts until they can cross. Seeing Penelope and Telemachus watching through the window finally connected something for me: The storm mentioned in "The Challenge" will most likely be this storm, which makes more sense with the timeline than if it's the first one.
It's the immense brutality that goes into a decision like this. Odysseus was barely trying to let him release the storm, he was just killing him. Grabbing his weapon and just went at it. There's no thought, no rhyme or reason. He closed his heart, became a monster and showed Poseidon just how insanely brutal a human can be. Where most would shudder, Odysseus didn't.
I love that you make Odysseus angry crying, it shows the desperation and helplessness he felt watching all his comrades die one by one. Venting out his anger and sorrow.
I have a little head cannon that while in the underworld Hades started watching Odey and rooted for him (as someone who loves his own wife). So when he was dying (check out the song before this one) Hades came in a gave a little bit of Godly powers to him (it also helps the Hades LOVES messing with his siblings (Zeus and Poseidon).
This is so cool! That Odysseus’ face is shadowed for most of the animatic and Poseidon being monstrous and becoming human as a counterweight to Odysseus’ beginning human and becoming more monstrous!! And the flash between all the men dying to crying over Poseidon and everyone flying out of the water and Odysseus balancing on the bag and cutting to Penelope and Telemachus!!! Thanks so much for making and posting this animatic!
I love how emotional this was?? Like not just the characters but this MADE me emotional, like (no offense the jetpack slays and so does the animation ofc) but this made way more sense, and since I could actually SEE Odysseus and Poseidon properly, I could understand the stakes of the fight better, and the characters emotions felt real, especially with the flashbacks, and Penelope and Telemachus like the whole thing is just
For real! This animatic gave a different feels to this song. When I was listened to it I felt like Ody finally has his revenge, like he was savoring every moment of Poseidon's pain. Now it felt like he doesn't want to hurt anyone anymore, but he's willing to do it if it means going back home. He is tired of war and bloodshed, but his head told him that this is the only way to convince Poseidon so he has to get through it, he's dangerous.
This is just what I imagined. His men coming out of the water as he attacks. Then flash backs of his past. This is like the best animation of seen of this musical. Incredible job bro.
I don't think it's flashbacks considering that Antinous was there ( 0:52 is their design for Antinous) you have to keep in mind that Ithica was really close ''When your home's so close and you're reached your coast''
I like the way the windbag was used a lot more here, while I thought that the windbag jetpack was cute and cool, him using it only to propel himself out of the water rather than a flight source is so much cooler. Also, the way he flew out the water? The man had murder in his eyes. Absolutely amazing. 👩🏾🍳💋
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT WOW OH MY GOD. JUST. Odysseus changing into the various monsters. Remembering the different moments. The 600 men actually delivering the 600 strikes. THE TRIDENT. The- just the EVERYTHING. This is incredible MY GOD.
No disrespect to Jay but this is what i envision when i only hear the music so i love love your version. I feel like not seeing the stabbing per se makes it less raw but the call backs were absolutely the right idea
Out of every animatic of this song, thins is hands down the best one. The color, motion, terrain, character designs (especially odysseus at the end), and how perfectly it syncs with the audio ❤ 2:56 is my favorite frame of all, it's literally how I imagined this would look like
I like the fact that the manifetation of his men came to his aid to help him in fighting poseidon over the... Frankly hilarious jetpack Odysseus flying around and hitting him
I’m not seeing anyone talk about this but I absolutely LOVE the little scene showing Penelope watching the storm out the window, right as ody screams how he will get back to her. She’s probably starting to suspect that something big is about to go down as we’ll see in the next saga but it ties into it so nicely
Oh my lawd this is amazing! I can't believe you got this done in 4 days! I love how Ody's old crew climbs up from the depths to aid him in his fight like "don't worry bro we got beef with this guy too" and the glimpse of Penelope watching the storm! Ody becoming cloaked in shadows that flow off him like wisps is so freaking cool especially as he approaches Poseidon and the torture scene starts with the flashes to the past pain he experienced.
I kinda thought about it... In Dangerous, Hermes sung When strangers lurk around the isle When danger greets you with a smile Fight your way through, do what you must do But no matter what, keep moving", so... Zeus and Co expect Ody to fight Posseidon.
the idea of every stab being punctuated by a memory is brilliant, and the use of the wind bag as a much more direct prpulsion, where he needs to actually control the output through the rope is brilliant
it's peak... IT'S PEAKKKKKKKKKKKK The fight is amazing but the flashbacks as Ody's going off? Especially 'feel pain' at 2:23? The coloring as it switches perspectives? So amazing FR
I love the use of showing a single eye throughout this entire animatic to call back to Polyphemus, where all of this started. Also the full-on anime poses are *_AMAZING,_* I love this whole thing
This was amazing! The flashing moments of his journey, him calling upon the souls of his friends/comrades, the little view of Penelope, the fact you can see that tiny realization on Poseidons face when he says "I will get back to my son" This whole thing was beautiful! Go take a rest you 100% deserve it
I love how you portrayed Ody here. The chills I got when I saw the angry tears and each flashback. It’s not just anger he’s feeling in those moments where he’s holding the trident, it’s frustration and grief and pure pain and you captured it BEAUTIFULLY.
The contrast between the present in cold colors highlighting how much of a monster he has become and the past filled with warm colors that highlights the violence he faced and him being much more human is so cool
YO THE WINGS ON HIS HEAD WHEN ODY EMERGES FROM THE WATER!?!??! Absolutely LOVING that Poseidon design. I love how Ody's face is in shadow and only showing one eye. The lightning bolt shot at 0:35 is so cool!!! Also, HELLO??!?! THE SHOT OF PENELOPE!?!?!? OW?!?!? I absolutely love how each of his crew comes up from the water to attack Poseidon, that's so cool!! Poseidon looked at Ody at 1:30 and seeing a monster is so good omg. Love the way it looks with the wisps. I also love how his vision is blurry and not taking up the whole screen. It's such a fun detail! ODY SHOWING UP BRIEFLY WITHIN THE MONSTER AT 1:51?!?!!?? SO COOL!!!!!!! And the shot of him holding the trident is so good omg. It's so creepy and sinister! ASTYANAX!?!?!?! HELLO?!?!?!!?!?!?! Bro those transitions are so good omg, the hard work really shows. I adore how the color swaps from blue to red for violent or painful moments.
This is such an amazing interpretation of the song! Giving BIG Last Airbender energy! And the 600 men rising up to chip away at Poseidon godly form? Mwuah! But what really got me were the moments you pulled away from the fight; panning to Penelope and Telemachus and the threats they're facing back in Ithaca, as well as all the flashbacks as Odysseus is stabbing Poseidon. It's so evocative despite the lack of gore. One of my favorite animatics that I've seen, and that's saying a lot!
I teared up how each time he stabbed Poseidon we see flash back of what odysseus lose and what he went through THAT WAS GENIUS everything else was amazing!
Your vision for this is so perfect! I hate to say it but the original portrayal of this song was so goofy with him flying around with the windbag jetpack the whole time. This is just perfect
Holy crap I LOVE THE REFRANCES NEAR THE END WHEN HE WAS STABBING HIM (tbh shows his anger even more compared to the specific animation made for the song) AND UR STYLE LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! (DIDNT use names bc im assuming at spelling lmao)
I love the use of flashbacks, like it's the most painful moment in Poseidon's life and Odysseyus isn't even "present" for it, just adds so much insult to injury.
Odysseus: Different Beast Final Form: Monster (dark aura covers the body, berserk, increases strength and speed) Ultimate Move: 600 Strike (summons an army of 600 souls of warriors)
The 600 men really pulled up like "We got some BEEF we're gonna settle now!" Poseidon with a ponytail tho...! 😮 And here I thought the torture couldn't get more brutal ans emotional... 😬
babe you cooked ate devoured licked the plate left no crumbs 💋 this is genuinely SO GOO, i'm obsessed with like, the details, the flashbacks when ody took the trident? unmatched, gave me chills 🙏 thanks so much for this animatic, it's amazing!

I liked the one in the livestream, but it definitely wasnt how I imagined 600 strike, save for the 2d bits at the end. Damn, I love how at 2:17 we can hear Poseidon gasping for air and Ody is just holding his throat almost casually. „you didn’t lock me out of Ithaca, you locked yourself in here with me” We love our unhinged king
God fucking damn girl this was amazing, I loved every second of it, the flashbacks ducking the torture sequence? perfection I hope the 3 all nighters were worth it
absolutely destroyed by Odysseus only having one eye visible for basically all of this, making him look just like the first monster he encountered on his voyage ten years ago- 🥲

Then back to normal lol
Seeing Penelope and Telemachus watching through the window finally connected something for me:
The storm mentioned in "The Challenge" will most likely be this storm, which makes more sense with the timeline than if it's the first one.
Yup!
0:52 "at this moment antinous smugs not knowing that he will get his ass beat a saga after"
3:11
It's a clear night, barely any stars in the sky.
*nobody dares to behold its glory for a moment.*
0:45 is no one gonna talk about how ody went super sayin?
I maintain that the Illiad describes golden glowing aura like flame coming from heroes in the moment of their brilliance.
Which is to say: it's canon
He’s got the power of god *and* anime on his side-
yeah standard greek -seus character power
@@addidraws9004😭😭w
I was thinking the same thing! "ITS OVER 9000!!!!"
Really like how you imaged this scene, nothing wrong at the streamed 3D ver. Just the storm jet pack made it lowkey funny 😂
The jetpack honestly took me out of it completely. It was just waaaay too silly. This is basically what I imagined in my head when I listened to this.
This is closer to how I thought, him summoning the ghosts of his men to fight for him. The man is not only a Captian or a king, he was a general.
Poseidon has the most melodic screams of agony I have ever heard.
That could have two meanings
✨🎶aAaAaAaaaHhgGg~🎶✨
Poseidon and Gladd0s band when?
The first full 600 hundred strike animatic (I’ve seen) and from one of my favorite epic animators? Hell yeah..👍
Didn't even think of the fact Ithica would've watched the whole thing go down, bravo
The only thing the jetpack slays is my ability to take the song seriously.
This is just what I imagined. His men coming out of the water as he attacks. Then flash backs of his past. This is like the best animation of seen of this musical. Incredible job bro.
I don't think it's flashbacks considering that Antinous was there ( 0:52 is their design for Antinous) you have to keep in mind that Ithica was really close ''When your home's so close and you're reached your coast''
i can't get over him dabbing before calling the arm of ghosts LMAOOOOOOOOOooo
I like the way the windbag was used a lot more here, while I thought that the windbag jetpack was cute and cool, him using it only to propel himself out of the water rather than a flight source is so much cooler. Also, the way he flew out the water? The man had murder in his eyes. Absolutely amazing. 👩🏾🍳💋
3:23 this gave me chills
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT WOW OH MY GOD. JUST.
Odysseus changing into the various monsters. Remembering the different moments. The 600 men actually delivering the 600 strikes. THE TRIDENT. The- just the EVERYTHING. This is incredible MY GOD.
I knew it was only a matter of time before someone animated the “600 strike” part as phantoms of Odysseus’ crew being summoned to jump Poseidon.
OOOOOOH I LOVE THE SHOT OF THE WINGED EARS/WEBBED EARS, SHOWING THAT ODY IS NOW LIKE GOD SIMILAR TO HERMES/POSEIDON
No disrespect to Jay but this is what i envision when i only hear the music so i love love your version. I feel like not seeing the stabbing per se makes it less raw but the call backs were absolutely the right idea
Out of every animatic of this song, thins is hands down the best one. The color, motion, terrain, character designs (especially odysseus at the end), and how perfectly it syncs with the audio ❤
2:56 is my favorite frame of all, it's literally how I imagined this would look like
2:42 is nobody gonna mention how odysseus was sitting on poseidon when stabbing him--?
Of course you have a Hermes pfp Lmao
LMFAO I LOVE IT
Yeah look at poseidon at 2:17
We're waiting for fanfics where Ody gives Poseidon backshots💔
(I genuinely saw someone in the comments wanting to write one🧑🤝🧑)
@wanderingspirit1884 there is one. Two actually. I read them. It's divine.
0:25 IS THIS FROM THE CONNECTION HE HAS WITH HERMES!!!
I love that Ody goes all black to symbolise how much hate he has an how much of a monster he's become because of everything
I love how Odysseus sees himself as Poseidon, there’s so many little details in this animation in such a short amount of time. You’re amazing!!! ❤
This is certainly an epic anime fight also The torture sequences looked painful
I kinda thought about it... In Dangerous, Hermes sung When strangers lurk around the isle When danger greets you with a smile Fight your way through, do what you must do But no matter what, keep moving", so... Zeus and Co expect Ody to fight Posseidon.
the idea of every stab being punctuated by a memory is brilliant, and the use of the wind bag as a much more direct prpulsion, where he needs to actually control the output through the rope is brilliant
it's peak... IT'S PEAKKKKKKKKKKKK
The fight is amazing but the flashbacks as Ody's going off? Especially 'feel pain' at 2:23? The coloring as it switches perspectives? So amazing FR
2:12 I love this it’s terrifying lmao
the way odysseus rises from the water... amazing...
I love the use of showing a single eye throughout this entire animatic to call back to Polyphemus, where all of this started.
Also the full-on anime poses are *_AMAZING,_* I love this whole thing
This was amazing! The flashing moments of his journey, him calling upon the souls of his friends/comrades, the little view of Penelope, the fact you can see that tiny realization on Poseidons face when he says "I will get back to my son"
This whole thing was beautiful!
2:49 “YOU DIDNT STOP WHEN I BEGGED YOU!” Gosh I love that line
I love how you represented that it was the Monster now, not Odysseus. And all the flashbacks as he was stabbing Poseidon? Awesome job
The contrast between the present in cold colors highlighting how much of a monster he has become and the past filled with warm colors that highlights the violence he faced and him being much more human
is so cool
I like the idea that Penelope saw out the window this giant boss battle and knows her husband is home
"PAINT ME LIKE ONE OF YOUR FRENCH GIRLS!!! 1:27"
"After everything you've done, how will you sleep at night?"
"Next to my wife" is a sick ass mic drop
(1:09) Looks like Hades was a secret supporter of Odysseus. Hades let them all out from the Underworld.
Odysseus: Different Beast
Final Form: Monster (dark aura covers the body, berserk, increases strength and speed)
Ultimate Move: 600 Strike (summons an army of 600 souls of warriors)
The 600 men really pulled up like "We got some BEEF we're gonna settle now!"
Poseidon with a ponytail tho...! 😮
And here I thought the torture couldn't get more brutal ans emotional... 😬
I LOVE YOUR POSEIDON. OMG the way you drew him putting his hair into a ponytail????? Absolutely STUNNING
Amazing! The flashbacks when he's stabbing Poseidon are a beautiful touch. I also love your animation style.
We are not beating the allegation that Epic animators doesn't sleepafter a new saga drop
babe you cooked ate devoured licked the plate left no crumbs 💋 this is genuinely SO GOO, i'm obsessed with like, the details, the flashbacks when ody took the trident? unmatched, gave me chills 🙏 thanks so much for this animatic, it's amazing!
1) Dam. Your fast
2) 1:09 and 0:24 are absolute masterpieces
3) You made my imagination come to life when the 600 came out to attack Poseidon
4) Your rendition of Ody repeatedly striking Poseidon while he pins him down, is absolutely fantastic. The implied gore, and flashes between memories is amazing
OH MY GOD!!! THIS SHOULD BE THE NEW CANON ANIMATIC, YOU DID IT ALL PERFECTLY OMFG!!!!!
The raw excitement I felt when I saw this had me, an adult man, kicking my feet giddy like a kid!!! Seriously incredible work, and dangerously fast at that!! I liked the one in the livestream, but it definitely wasnt how I imagined 600 strike, save for the 2d bits at the end. So you have absolutely nailed what I imagined this song may look like, and in a gorgeously powerful way at that!!
Damn, I love how at 2:17 we can hear Poseidon gasping for air and Ody is just holding his throat almost casually.
„you didn’t lock me out of Ithaca, you locked yourself in here with me”
We love our unhinged king
God fucking damn girl
this was amazing, I loved every second of it, the flashbacks ducking the torture sequence? perfection
I hope the 3 all nighters were worth it
The man who made the gods cry
-Odysseus
absolutely destroyed by Odysseus only having one eye visible for basically all of this, making him look just like the first monster he encountered on his voyage ten years ago- 🥲
Odysseus really bitched Poseidon 😭 thats my goat 🐐
When I first listened to this song, I immediately imagined it as Odysseus opening the wind bag and summoning his 600 men through the storm to held him bring down Poseidon, you've animated this beautifully so bravo!
THIS IS SO PRETTY WTH??!? THE FLASHBACKS EVERYTIME ODY STABS POSIEDON! THE SHADOWS OVER ODY??? THE 600 STRIKE!!!! THIS IS INCREDIBLE OH MY GODS. Get some rest, you deserve it!
OHHHH MY GOD THE SCENES WE GOT TO SEE THE INSIDE OF HIS BODY BESING IMPALED AND THE MARK IT LEAVES?? THIS IS OUTSTANDING, WHY ISNT THIS MORE HYPED UP
This was already significantly better than the official one just by not having the stupid air bag jetpack. I loved the way you choreographed this :D
Ody flashing back to critical moments in the adventure with each stab goes so hard. My jaw is on the floor. Incredible work
