Great video. I think my mistake was that I didn't use enough layers of pastel because I have the same set of "Gallery" and it didn't blend well with the Q-tips when I tried it on the page. I'll have to try again. Also, Oliver is amazing with backgrounds!

Hi Maia! Great tutorial. My first colouring page I did with oil pastels, I think they were from Faber Castell, because I had two sets at that time, other one was from Domes. I gave FC one away because I thought pencils were better. I got new more of higher quality from Van Gogh and I tried many times drawing, painting with them, still prefer something else😅. You are so right, practicing is the key 👏💜
@@coloredbymaia6476 They are very budget friendly, and soft. But I find it difficult to use them, they have very strong odor. But there are variety of colours. I used their pencils too, they are also very good for the price. That was back in 2018, so I can’t vouch for now, if anything changed in these products.

I was wondering if you tried to use the oil pastels on Amazon paper or any other thin paper and did it bleed after you put satin glaze on top. I have RJ Hampson books and was wondering if it would work on them. 💜💙💚💛🧡
Hi Izabella !! Oh yes i have used them on amazon paper but i only add a little bit,i dont use them the same way as i showed in this paper . I use a much smaller amount to blend it out and create a lighter effect , i dont think the technique i used here is gonna be good for amazon paper because it it thin it might crunch the paper
@coloredbymaia6476 not erasers. They use them to shape clay when mqking clay figures. They look like brushes but have a rubber tip instead of a hair tip

From what i understand they are only sold in central and south america, i got mine on book depository at the time,i really miss book depository it was so much easier to get books there !!! 😊I recently bought some king art oil pastels I saw in Walmart can’t wait to play around with them. Also picked up those neons. Per usual thanks for all the tips. When u get some time suggestions on must have inktense pencils or should I buy whole set or the color blocks.

Im not sure if there is another glazing liquid but you can layer both before the satin glazing or after! I have layered and blended before fixing and ive also added stuff after fixing and just make sure that you fix it again after the final layer .
Hi Deb, i dont think they are non toxic at all !! Maybe coating your finger with some coconut oil might help to limit toxic contact ! Ill have to try that and report back !! Most art supplies are toxic so we do our best !!

Where and when did you get your Mungyo Aquarelle Pearl Oil Pastels? I bought one from Amazon on Prime Day and they don't look like yours and were an absolute mess inside.
Oh no seriously????? So bummed to hear that !!! Hope you can return them!! I got mine in the beginning of June, on Amazon US. Mine are the Pearl colors. They do break easily and are very creamy and soft, i even broke one already .
why not using blending stump instead? when it get dirty, you can sand the dirty tip off with sandpaper while maintaining its tip... i use color shaper to do blending as well
Hi yes you can definately use a blending stump and lots of people like using that , i like using the blending stump when im in smaller spaces, it works great .

Yes definately use more product if you’re using a Q tip, with your finger you can use less product, but with q tip you need even more

You can also use clay shapers to extend the oil pastels to those edge lines and to blend as well
You mean clay erasers? I never heard of clay sharpeners but now im intrigued ! Very interesting !

Colorreanding life its sold in south america but i got it a long time ago on book depository
Actually the pentel oil pastels are really good, but have a petrol scent to them and they might not be lightfast.
Oh really ?? Good to know !! I used some and didnt like them but maybe they were student grade , not sure it was a long time ago lol
I can’t stand to use my finger for blending. I need to find a different way to blend.
So i actually just tested another way with silicone brushes and it worked ok, ill hopefully show it in my next oil pastel video .
