      Local comps here, they might as well have the winner named at the beginning of the tourny and let everyone open fencing for two hours to save hassle

    Valiyev is as bent as a $9 note. However, he is a symptom of a greater malaise that is permeating the entire sport, which is that the FIE refereeing structure is systemically corrupt. There are obvious exceptions but the sheer number of really dodgy decisions, especially in sabre of late, has left me in no doubt that the sport is rotten. The biggest surprise is that it has gone on for so long that it's now accepted as normality.

    He was reffing my teammates pool in junior mens foil. And what i got from my teammate is that he was also just an ahole. Had very weird explanations for touches and when we watched video footage from our phone it was not the way he called them. Ofc hes only human but still

      I am a saber referee, but was asked to referee épée for a small championship since there were too many children for only a few epee referees.
      I almost cried on my way home. I didn't believe that épée referees are not under constant pressure and i was calm during the bouts since there was no controversy. And i couldn't believe i could have been doing this for the same money 😂

    He refereed one of my bouts in a semi-final match at regionals in the US years ago. He kept giving unfair calls to my opponent in the box and it was very apparent that my opponent's coach and him were good friends and they were speaking another language and greeting each other before and after the bout. Uttermost disgust.

    It's been a long time since I practiced saber or foil and am completely lost today on refereeing decisions but if I agree with what you say, it is because there is really a problem because my brain wouldn't be able to see all these coding errors if they weren't so simple.

    There's a clear link between Logvin, Nazlymov and Usmanov. Logvin and Nazlymov campaigned for Usmanov to be elected president of the European Fencing Federation back in 2025. This was mentioned in the Kommersant's coverage of the election at the time (can't seem to add the link to the article without youtube deleting my comment)

    if you want justice so much, then why don’t you exhibit fights where Italian, French or Romanian fencers are supported. because as I know you attend all FIE competitions. I’ll give you an example from this year’s World Championships. namely, the battle was among the women's cadet saber. fight between an Uzbek fencer and an Italian fencer. penultimate blow. take a look in case you missed it)))and I can give a dozen more such examples, if you like.

      Will be interesting to see if he replies to your comments. He definitely favors France. Also zip about Bauer's influence / power that crosses nation states. They can do no wrong in his eyes. As pure as a new driven snow. LOL! If you don't mind, list all the other matches you had issues with.

    • @SlicerSabre
      @SlicerSabre  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I recommend you follow my instagram because I have indeed highlighted instances where Italians, French, Romanians and Hungarians have benefited. I even highlighted recently an incident where an Uzbek fencer lost out.
      Also, I do not "attend all FIE competitions" and the fact you would make such an assumption devalues your otherwise valid point.

      @@SlicerSabre I am not on Instagram. So why not do feature TH-cam videos about them? Side notes: Other than USA Fencing, what other major fencing federations (have made official complaints) are involved in these latest (yes latest) saber refereeing controversies, that you and other Internet Influencers are making TH-cam videos about? What about Christine Bauer? He worked for the Russian Fencing Federation for years (also French, Italian and Chines Federations). By the way as of February this year Bauer is also Iranian National Saber Team coach. You can search the following. Who is with Bauer in the photo?
      Christian Bauer Named Iran’s Sabre Coach
      TEHRAN (Tasnim) - French coach Christian Bauer was named the Iran national team sabre coach.

      @@steveheck4348I was replying to the original commenter.
      Look, I'm sure like everyone, I have biases. Making TH-cam videos takes a lot of time and effort, maybe I will make a video covering the concerns you have raised, but even then maybe you will find another case that I haven't and continue to call me biased. Ultimately it is impossible to cover everything.
      If you want a more complete view of my coverage then I will once again point you towards my Instagram account, which has highlighted many more things than my TH-cam, including a case where one of Bauer's fencers had a french referee.

      @steveheck4348 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SlicerSabre Thank you for the reply. Bauer is coaching fencers from multiple countries. Now he is also the Head Coach of the Iranian National Saber Team (have you mentioned that?). How are referees assigned with all these conflicts of interest? By the way I am not accusing Bauer of anything but just raising questions. Other than USA Fencing have any of the major Fencing Federations filed complaints against the specific people mentioned in your latest video (and other videos and by other Internet Influencers)? Have you tried to interview the accused? Side Note: There has been little transparency in the USA NAC situation. Did the same referee assistance take place in other matches at the competition? When will an official report be made available?

    what i am intrigued by is why the competition runners/officials and the DT (directoire de technique i think it is called from memory... and of course my bad french...lol) did not apply the FIE rules... does his FIE qualifications intimidate the officials ?
    or are the competitions applied differently than they were in australia (nationally) ... (mind you I don't know if they woudl ever do what they should with such controversy and influence...)

  • @Wut6272

    Does the FIE look at the background of the refs like what clubs they’re in and what countries they are from? Or is this guy just a exception 🤨

    I attended the Lima World Cup and witnessed the bouts between Mexico and Korea. We couldn't believe the number of mistakes made by the Valiyev; it was so obvious for that he was helping mexico, which was quite disheartening.

  • @knight6257
    @knight6257 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not only him, not only saber. This thing ALWAYS happens on all levels of fencing: regional, national championships, cups etc. You always find at least 1 former fencer who left the sports because of some referee prefered one from another because he was in a good relation with coach. Imo FIE must DO something about referee factor especially on saber. Not a couple changes in rules but a whole review of saber refereeing

    This is also the sabre problem, the referee should decide who won more than half of touches. Very random and stupid rules. Epee much better in this, everything is clear and fair

    I've seen at least 10 bouts where FIKRAT blatantly cheated for some of his favored fencers. I know first hand that he gets "under the table" money for helping these fencers.
