  • To celebrate the fact that this channel now has over 400 subscribers, I decided to visit this fairly new car wash, as requested by SF Car Wash Channel.
Anyways, this fairly new express site opened last November, and is the first Main Street site to have a tunnel. According to the manager, they have another site in Clearwater that had an old Istobal rollover system that was constantly breaking down, so they replaced it with a Washworld that is very successful. And they are currently building their newest site in Dunedin which will have another Coleman Hanna tunnel.
This tunnel in particular features a 100’ conveyor with Coleman Hanna equipment (excluding some foaming applicators and entrance arch which are made by Mr. Foamer). It also has some components which I haven’t seen in a Coleman Hanna tunnel before, such as the Follower Wheel Washer, Stainless Steel H.E.S.S. EQ Dryers, and the Side & Window Brushes.
One thing that should be noted, is that vehicles are not sprayed with a bug remover before entering the tunnel. Instead, self service bug stations are located right next to the entrance to eliminate manual prep. Also, the tunnel building features the open sided wall like many other tunnels I’ve visited. This of course, allows ton of natural light, which doesn’t give the costumer that closed in feeling.
Main Street is currently using Zep chemicals in all of their new tunnels.
The wash quality was good, however part of the rear of the car wasn’t completely dried (yes, I understand the rear is the most difficult area to dry). Overall, Main Street is an extremely well ran facility, and is a great place to get your car washed. I especially wanna thank the staff and management personnel for their hospitality.

Congratulations on 400! The wash system in general looks really nice. I see Hanna got rid of the weird ridiculous looking floor mounted dryers with the ridiculously tall hose manifolds and stuck with these new ones. Over really good car wash tunnel!

Where the fuck on earth is the pre-soak and pre-wash? Instead of grinding the dirt in the paint... .

Modern car washes like the one shown in the video use closed cell foam brushes, which is a special material that can’t absorb dirt, sand, particles etc. Furthermore, the brushes are rinsed with every rotation, and are well lubricated by the detergent that’s applied to the vehicle, meaning they really just fling the dirt right off the vehicle.

@@FloridasExpressCarWashes - Thank you for your explanatory answer. The reason for my comment is because I am passionate about car detailing and carwash systems in general. Tampa has obviously different weather, so I follow your point. However, this is not generally applicable.

You oughta visit a Zips car wash. I work at one in Northwest Arkansas.

I probably wouldn’t visit one of their sites all the way in Arkansas, but I’d love to try their location in Pensacola. I might have to do it if I’m ever up north cause it’s very far from Tampa.

Sweet. And I totally understand not going all the way to Arkansas. Before it was Zips the car wash I work at used to be a Boomerang Car Wash. What's unique about the Bentonville AR location I work at is that it was Boomerang's first location with a MacNeil system.

Zips acquired 4 locations in Jacksonville (formerly CarbuX). Not sure what Zips has done to them.

I wish that they added a buff and shine to it

That would be nice, however there is not enough room to add a buff n dry.
