If you're interested in making it at home, here’s a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup rajma (kidney beans), soaked overnight
2 cups water
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, pureed
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 green chilies, slit
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon coriander powder
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions the soaked rajma with water and a pinch of salt until soft (3-4 whistles).
2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
4. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for a minute.
5. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
6. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
7. Add the cooked rajma along with its water. Let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the gravy thickens.
8. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
