It was his desire, and his alone, to not market his music outside of Canada. Yes, a real shame 'cause he and his band would have gone much further. Accept as we must, one's decisions. He has to live with them we don't. Honor the fact that we have experienced and continue to enjoy his musical creations here, on the radio, or live, given the opportunity.
Beautiful Midnight had a pretty big US release, which included Deep Six in place of I Miss New Wave, presumably because it was a more palatable alternative for the American listener. It also featured a huge PARENTAL ADVISORY warning on the front at a time you had to walk into an actual record store to buy a new CD, and would notice all the new releases. And obviously that's a pretty good tool for ingratiating rebellious high school and college kids.
This song is amazing!!!!!!! I wish it had atleast 1,000,000 views. It deserves it. I would listen to this song everyday literally. It is that great. There is so much emotion in all of his songs. It is different than all the crappy shit out there these days where it is all about the sound. MGB is all about the message.
All of my favorite matt good songs are the ones that never made the radio. His albums are so good and all the folks who don't have em really are missing out.
This album still stands up today. Amazing. I was a new MGB fan. Just had bought Audio of Being a few months before. Drove 40 miles to pick this CD up, wondering if I would like it and would be worth the trip. Giant opened this CD and I was immediately hooked. Still unsure which album I love the most between this and Audio of Being. It’s been like 15 years and I still haven’t made a decision. That Matthew Good vibrato is unmatched by anyone I’ve heard since I became a fan.
Audio of Being is a hidden gem. I consider it one of the greatest albums of all time, yet almost no one has ever heard of it. Oh, and unless there was an alternate release that I don't know about, this song was on Underdogs, not Beautiful Midnight.
this is one of the best songs i think that hes had . i love it the wors the music . its all amazing . i want more stuff like this from him :) this is the stuff that made me fall in love with his music . muah amazing skills
Raygun - 1996 Underdogs (Canadian Release) - 1997 Underdogs (International Release) - 1998 ...Let us all join hands and sing songs for a while, and then discuss something of more importance.
Good job on the video MatthewGoodRox two pats on the back for you. i've made my choice, this song is my favorite. It was hard to choose considering that everything matthew good writes and sings is pure gold.
Thanks A Lot! Having watched it a few times now, I think I should have made the part with the caterpillar shorter. I wish Matt would add this song to his setlists. Do you know if he has ever played it live? I was looking at old setlists from disorientation, but didn't see it.
They made the cool background noise by dropping guitars in the studio snd recording the feedback. #9 on underdogs, after prime time, before indestructible. Fav album of all time
JL.... You nailed it man ! He's amazing live when the PA is is dialed in on vocals. If you haven't seen him live, do yourself a favor and check him out.
It's criminal that a man of his talent didn't EXPLODE worldwide. Everyone should know who he is.

alphapaw132 If he chose it to be that way, it's a different story. Do you have a link that shows this?

Its his vocal range that really SOLD me on his material. I mean , give credit where credit is due - his arranging is quite good too.
This was my graduation song. So nice.
Right up there with Suburbia for sure.
Matthew Good is just amazing. Clever song-writer, and makes the song easy to lsiten to.
The best music is never fully recognized and this song deserves so much more credit along with Matt's other amazing work.

Love the song and love what you did with it.
Can you imagine some asshole randomly fumbling on TH-cam and finding this song?
hehe, just imagining a douche bag landing on this tune by mistake. priceless ;)
I love this video. I can't think of any better concepts for the song. I think Matt would be proud.
and I love the billboard part it just shows that nobody is perfect.
Forever stuck in silence. Waiting for attrition....waiting for you. I'm forever waiting, Dawna.
❤ his vocals

Played it live here for their encore. Starts a little after 1:05:00. Really cool live version of it!
