  • Revlon vs Knock Off One Step Styler.
Where do I begin? Every single day so many of you (thank you for looking out for your girl) let me know that another knock off brand has stolen my content to sell their fake/cheap product... So I decided to try it out against the original, Revlon One-Step Volumizer hair dryer. After trying out this knock-off one-step styler I don't recommend it and please be a smart consumer. If you see my face or my content on an Ad on social media, I'm not promoting anything besides the Revlon one-step volumizer and dryer I don't allow anyone to use my content. Unless you see it personally from me, you can trust my opinion. But otherwise, I can't recommend or stand behind brands that think it's okay to steal content and lie to their consumers that the product they are selling is the product I am talking and raving about. IT'S NOT! Rant over :)

It really LOOKED like she was trying to make the knockoff side seem difficult lol. I also have seen several vids with ladies who weren't getting paid by either company and they consistently said the knockoff brand was just as good and in some cases BETTER

You essentially can't (safely) use the Revlon tool outside of the Americas (or countries with 110V) without risking significant electrical issues. You also cannot use the Revlon tool with a voltage converter (as stated on the box). If Revlon could redesign this tool to suit between 220-240V (the mains supply of the majority of countries), there would not be such a desire for fakes.

Can you also compare the revlon to the "higher end" versions, I saw bed head did one and there is a gold with charcoal version as well $79 or so. I saw them on ulta and was interested. It seemed like Revlon came out with theirs first, so it is interesting to see these other versions.

I bought the knock off because we can't get the Revlon one in Australia... I think that's why the dupes exist, because the Revlon product is only available in the USA. It absolutely sucks that they used your videos to promote it without asking but incidentally their videos are how I found you and your channel (so yay) ;-)

I bought the generic brand since revlon isn’t available in Australia. It did a really good job smoothing my long hair. After a month of use all the bristles melted and leaned to the side. The top (hat looking) part came of, the plastic around the screws melted and hence no more support. I did glue it back on but kept on falling of. Since the top is not there the hot air is not as strong anymore since it’s not contained.

My Revlon One Step's plastic bristles are a bit bent out of shape bc I can't be bothered to section my hair properly but it still works and I love it. 😄 I can dry and style my hair in about 10 mins including going over with a cool shot! I've never had my hair look presentable by just blow drying it. Life changer!

There is a lot of dust particles gathered within the brush bristles of my revlon one step hair dryer and volumnizer. The dust makes my freshly washed hair dirty and the blow dried hair are very dry with a bad texture not at all smooth and shiny.
I searched a lot but was unable to find a tutorial on how to clean it. Can you help with that?

Good review however you didn't do them the same! On the Revlon side you went both ways while on the knock off it was a one and done.

If it’s weaker then you would have to just dry the side longer to help with the frizz. Got to get that moisture out.

I bought knock off only not only can’t you not buy the revlon in New Zealand, you can’t even buy one overseas and bring back, even with power converters. But definitely the points made are relevant, the power is low, creates alot of frizz too

The reason you're hair turned out differently on each side is due to the way you handled the tool. Maybe if you use the glove for the fake you could have handled the tool the same way.

I have the Revlon appliance and it has ruined my hair! I wouldn’t even think of using it on the high setting. My hair is/was pretty strong and my hairdresser (whom I have a long history going to) has found a lot of breakage lately, and warned me against using it because it simply gets too hot! Revlon tool is the only thing that has changed in my routine. User beware!

Would like to know what is the difference between this knock off and the one from Hot Shot Tool you reviewed in 2018...because it was also sort of a knock off but you were happy with it, was it a better copy than this in regards to the functioning?

So, I'm hooked on the Revlon one step, but the only downfall is the size. I'm going on a trip and want to bring something comparable to the one step, but doesn't take up as much room in my luggage. Any recommendations?

I know!! I'm so upset that they did that. I reposted the knock off thinking it was the Revlon and said I wanted to buy it so my mother-in-law saw it and got it for me for Christmas and that was awesome of her. But she saw the post before I took it down and posted that it was a knock off that showed people using Revlon and saying it was their brand and how frustrating that was. I didn't tell my mother-in-law that it was the knock off cause I wasn't about to ruin the gift she gave me lol but it really is so irritating they and other companies do that to trick people.

The knock off is AMAZING, no problems as shown in video. A few friends use it, with very thick and long hair, I can't understand what the negativity is about regarding the knock off. My daughters also have it, one with thick and other one with coarse hair, look like salon blow dried and very smooth, with NO frizz, they love it.

I literally just came across a pin on Pinterest for a site selling a knockoff that they originally want over $100 for and they were using clips from your video for Revlon's version. I really wanted to comment on it, but I couldn't.

Thank you for reviewing this knockoff. I have been dreaming of purchasing the Relvon from the very first review you did. Unfortunately, the Revlon is not available in South Africa (the flat brush Revlon is but after your review I decided against purchasing it). Now, I could purchase the revlon online and have it shipped to South Africa but the specs of the product is not made for our country, like the voltage and the connection point. The knockoff however has been available for a few months now and I did purchase it. I agree with the frizz and not being as smooth of a blow out but (and I have crazy curly thick hair) the time I spent blow drying my hair was half the time, which is a huge plus for me.

    • @RunetCoetzee1
      @RunetCoetzee1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

No the one on Takealot is the knockoff. Other ZA websites offer the Revlon but with the disclaimer that it will not work because of the power source only being 110volts.

I love the Revlon bc it makes blowing my thick, curly hair quick and easy. However, I notice that I have a lot of breakage on the hair framing my face since using it. Do you think it could be from this dryer? I don’t use it often, maybe 1-2times a month.

I bought the knock off on Amazon. It shorted and the settings were stuck! Had no high option , and it smelt like plastic and sparked! I returned it , went and bought the Revlon. Had no issues and I love it, and far superior! The only thing that’s been negative with the Revlon is that it produces a lot of steam and I set off the smoke detector at my house!🤦🏻‍♀️ The good news is, I had 3 hot fire fighters at my house that complimented me on my hair! 👌🏻

I bought the Revlon because I like there products and because I watched you use it and I am smart because I have thin fine hair so I invested in a few wigs to wear when I don't feel like doing my hair and I watched a tutorial from a reputable utuber who wears and buys good wigs and someone stole her sites to sell knock offs and I got a couple so now I'm very careful about the products I buy so thank you for reminding me
