    I can't thank you enough the script you have made. It makes playing the swam instruments a pleasure!! One thing though, how do you perform a glide? I can't do it consistently. When I blow a note and change my fingers to a different one while still blowing sometimes it jumps to the note right away and some times it does a glide. Is there a particular way of playing to get the glide?

      Hi Monitus, I'm glad to know you are finding the script useful!
      The adaptive glide feature relies on a combination of three control inputs: legato articulation, low breath pressure, and long notes. So to trigger glide you have to play smooth, soft, and slow. After you trigger a glide, you can speed up the glide time by increasing breath pressure if needed.
      The thresholds for note length and the maximum glide value can be adjusted in the @OnLoad variables. If I recall correctly, the SWAM instruments also try to do some glide control based on articulation, so you might want to turn that off. Or if the SWAM glide works best for you, you can disable glide in the script by setting glide_cc to 0.
      Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes.

      Sorry, I don't speak Italian ... but it looks like you're actually looking for support from Artinoise - they can be reached at appsupport@artinoise.com

      Hi, thanks for the question.
      Mozaic isn't available on Windows, but my buddy Stef did a nice vid on how to use re.corder effectively in a Windows setup: th-cam.com/video/aMLLNesgwd4/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps!

    I am about to pull the trigger for one at Thomann. Did you make any improvements over the script? Isn't the flute working good as it is? Is the script really necessary to control for example correctly a SWAM instrument like the SWAM flute or the SWAM sax?

    • @JonDiercks
      @JonDiercks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Monitus,
      The latest firmware from artinoise has improvements in legato articulation and smoothing curves for the noisy accelerometer. But I still rely on this script for many other benefits, including remapping CCs to pitchbend, on-the-fly transpose, adaptive portamento/glide, etc.
      You can certainly get very musical results from the re.corder without this script, and when you're just getting to know the instrument maybe simpler is best. The script can help take a performance to the next level, though.
      Thanks for the inquiry, and best wishes for a happy holiday season! Hope you find the re.corder to be lots of fun to play.

      One last question that I couldn't find in the reviews, does it have a good range of blow sensing? I mean, blowing soft Vs blowing hard. I want to use it with for example SWAM sax to play from quick hard notes to soft and gentle long notes, using the blow pressure to control the expression fader of the swam instrument. Does it work like that?

    • @JonDiercks
      @JonDiercks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MonitusMusic that's very subjective, but in my opinion yes there is a good range of breath sensitivity. Some of my other videos on this channel should give you some sense of range. You will want to experiment with the app settings to adjust the threshold (I set mine to low threshold). I also found that the provided plug does not provide a tight enough seal to give the level of resistance I want, so I plug mine with a foam earplug.

      @@JonDiercks I have seen on your older videos you had an ewi like I used to have. I didn't like it much. I felt it too unnatural and the strength you had to do when blowing was too hard for me. Is the artinoise easier to blow?

    I’ve connected the recorder to my mac via Bluetooth but when I try using it as a midi controller for a virtual instrument in my DAW (reaper) I get a never ending string of modulation and expression messages that seem to interfere with the note on and note off messages. Is this normal?

    • @JonDiercks
      @JonDiercks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jake, great question!
      It's "normal" for the re.corder to be sending a lot of Continous Controller (CC) messages, because the accelerometer is constantly monitoring every slight movement you make, and sending those messages into the MIDI stream for use as expressive controls. In my experience this usually shouldn't cause any problem with note-on/off operation, but I don't use Reaper, so I don't know the specifics of what might be going on in there.
      The latest firmware update for the re.corder does include a configurable setting that can reduce some of the noisiness of the CC data by applying smoothing algorithms. Alternatively, you can turn off any or all of the three accelerometer CCs using the re.corder app. Contact artinoise support for help if needed.
      I recommend experimenting with it; I find the motion-control features to be one of the best attributes of the re.corder.
      My friend Stef has videos with detailed tutorials for using re.corder in a variety of ways, including a step-by-step walk-through of connecting re.corder to a mac:
      th-cam.com/play/PLxwiIrn5jzyN35TjopdumiWPuGUDkzdxT.html
      Good luck, and I hope you have lots of fun making music with your re.corder!

      Ugh, yeah, it's sad that we all had to wait so long, and even sadder that some are still waiting. Guess that's the risk we all took; no guarantees with Kickstarter, just a shot at maybe getting in early on something. Hope yours gets to you soon. Let me know if you want to try this script when you can!
