I LOVE the creative ways you display how the attacks interact with the environment . The fact that every attack is shown in a way that makes sense is beyond impressive. That and the little detail of the “you’re kind of a freak huh?” Showing this isn’t the first time they’ve fought and killed sans. Great work

I did a Lego animation for college, and it was tedious as hell, I can’t fathom how long this took.
The camera movement, audio sync, dynamic poses, disassembling the mini figures to convey the dynamic poses. This is beautiful. And thank you for the flashing lights warning.

Insanity, pure insanity. I would have never expected you to animate something for this long and to finish something this amazing, you have exceeded every expectation i ever had since the day you mentioned this project and i am endlessly proud of you. I can't and don't even want to imagine how long all these shots took you and what the entire process of all this was like. You managed to improve every single aspect of your animations, color grading and editing all at the same time and this is honestly one of your best animated works ive seen. This i can truly call a real masterpiece, no words, absolutely no words. Insanity. Pure, pure insanity.

This is criminally underrated. I'm not familiar with your work, but I know a bit on how stop motion works, and WAY too much with how sans works. I can see every attack sans does in the animation, and it is the best I've seen in directly translating each move into an animation like this. And the fact you got the lego frisk to float around and jump off walls like that is near magic for what I think is practical effects. Marvelous.

I couldn't agree more! The translation from 2D battle into 3D LEGO animation was absolutely gorgeous and deserves ALL of the praise, truly a work of art this one!! You really can see *every single attack* Sans does translated into LEGO here, and I'm blown away by the craftsmanship of the translation of the attacks ALONE, let alone everything else that went into this animation!

I don't even know how to describe how good this is. Like you have mastered a semi low frame rate for fast movements. Making the movements look faster with less frames. And just the cinematography in general is just amazing. The customs were great, the sync with the music was great. Everything was just great.

I think the most impressive part is that this was all done with physical material. Many animations like these are done virtually now, so seeing something so spectacular done with actual pieces blows me away. Outstanding work. I’ve never seen anything like it, and don’t think I ever will again.

It's a really nice touch that you can see sans start to cry near the end it really shows his side of the story because, for the player, their just getting rid of another enemy, but for sans you literally killed his brother imagine how he feels about that. And he even gives you a second chance! It's interesting that in this case the character your fighting has more kindness in his heart then frisk ever had

This was Amazing, as someone who has done Stop Motion with Legos myself, I find this to be beautiful, there was a ton of work put into this amazing video. Most people don't understand how long it takes to put together even a stop motion of 30 seconds, let alone 7 minutes!!!!! That and the fact you actually animated almost every single one of his attacks was amazing. Well done mate, I will be sharing this to all my friends. Can't wait to see another

i forgot how absolutely heartbreaking this fight actually is. Oh my goodness that was absolutely spectacular.
i love Camilla's remix, it's one of my all-time favorite. The little reprieve where it plays the musicbox memory song always brings tears to my eyes. Having Sans be the one remembering happy memories in that spot, and memories of his brother instead of a friendly human, was way more impactful than what i usually think of. i will now forever think of that instead when i hear it.
seeing chara take over was insane.
the facial expressions were amazingly accurate. the camera work was INSANE.
I loved seeing Sans's complex attacks translated into a 3D space'
the fact you brought back the other bossfights in genocide run was incredible.
My only real critique would be to color the putty you use to keep the limbs attached in the stretch poses. the color of it broke my attention two times. Some of the paint jobs could be a tiny bit cleaner, but honestly it wasn't an immersion breaker. i'm just trying to offer productive criticism as well as glowing praise. I'm having a bit of a hard time finding substantial things to critique.
I've done some animation. I've drawn some comics, done a little stop-motion myself. I've written a book, and many stories besides. To me, storytelling is the most powerful element for any form of entertainment. Storytelling wins every time. You didn't just make a cool fight, you told a story with it. you told it very well. it made me feel a lot of things.
Personally, i'm actually not a huge fan of lego stopmotion. but i absolutely loved this. i think i usually don't like lego stop motion because it isn't very expressive, at lesat, not the one's i've seen. (yet obviously things like the lego movie prove that it is possible). but this was great. seriously, it says a lot when a non-fan enjoys what you've made. You told an amazing story, with lots of expression, you portrayed the source material incredibly well while also bringing new life to it, and you took the watcher through an entire arc of emotions from start to finish. Seriously, well done my friend. I loved this. I hope you have an incredible day, and always succeed in your artistic endeavors

DANG IT. I WOKE UP TOO LATE FOR THE PROPER UPLOAD. Happy birthday as well!
So, where to start? The beginning note, very clever way to introduce the viewer to Sans' personality by having him introduce the video! And these opening/establishing shots, just gorgeous cinematography, with the camera movement transitioning not just smoothly, but naturally to each shot; speaking mainly about the intro to 0:40 at this point. Something I adore about this video from the get go is the pacing; you have Sans being all patient to lecture and taunt Frisk before jumping in with some attacks that are insane for just starting attacks imo! All the flying bones/weapons, and the way you animated Frisk's jumping was insanely clean, helped so much by that out of socket leg animation!! You really got the impression that they were jumping as high as they could go, but they still managed to look unimpressed for this sequence and most of the fight lol. Then you transition to a multitude of back flips, more complex puzzles and traps involving all sorts of jumping and constant action, and something I really adore is just how well you use out of socket animation to the fullest extent possible, and we are barely a minute in! Sans right before a major attack brings his leg up and down so cleanly, and Frisk is a literal acrobatic, so agile and dangerous, you fear for Sans life for the majority of this video! And yet you keep the suspense running high with each dodge Sans manages, keeping the viewer engaged constantly.
But you don't just plunge into the sheer gravity defying fighting insanity just yet, you actually gave some more heart to two shallow video game characters, at 2:03, this sequence to 2:35 roughly was a great way to pause the fight and add some more suspense and emotion to Frisk and Sans; you see Sans' trying once more to appeal to Frisk's morals and Frisk show some semblance of remorse. You killed it with the facial expressions here! Sans and Frisk both manage to look genuinely regretful with that facial animation 2D tracking you pulled off, it really helped sell these two characters as having genuine emotions. The curled, flattened eyelids on Sans and Frisk looked seamless, the playdough used later on also fit wonderfully, just in general the facial animation in this animation is hands down gorgeous! Also the way you play with blur and camera angles, switching focus from Sans to Frisk and their knife at 2:34, just a really clever way to help drive different perspectives and in this case, it was the final straw for sans. Btw all, all the masking you did for the knife throws, bone/weapon throws and acrobatics again, outstanding! You also did some practical destruction using different pieces for when Frisk is slammed into the walls or their knife gets stuck in a pillar or entrance, really wonderful attention to detail yet again! As the fight goes on, you can feel the building rage on display, the raw emotion in every strike by Frisk, and growing anger on display from Sans, a literal skeleton who you gave emotion through an incredible combination of what I find to be seamless facial animation and great acting, yes acting, on the part of a lego figure, the animation is that great! The way he smacks Frisk into the wall for instance, at 3:05, stunning animation and you can feel the power behind that thrust! Frisk’s general running and fight choreography, as well, top notch in these scenes! The camera transition right after at 3:06 is incredible as well! And you even managed to make me scared for Sans a bit when Chara finally showed their face around the halfway point!
I very much adore how despite taking place in a single room, the lighting changes throughout the film, from its golden glow to harsh hues of red, with more intense rim lighting, and halfway through, at 3:30, we get these simply gorgeous scenes lit with a combination of red and blue, two contrasting colors that, while arguably a basic combination to show color contrast, works wonderfully with Undertale imo far better than it works for FNaF SL! And you managed so many beautifully paced yet fast action scene esque shots, from Frisk/Chara sprinting around a maze of bones to jumping off the walls and showing no signs of ever giving up. Every chance they have to prove themselves, to strike Sans, to finish one puzzle or trap to get to the next, they manage it with ruthless efficiency, and I adore that! And having Sans wipe his forehead in relief is an interesting way of having him demonstrate that he is exerting himself more in this sequence of the fight, or maybe he is doing it mockingly, regardless, love it!
And the vignette flashback scenes Echo, so cinematic and well done! Maybe some of them could have used stronger rim lighting, but rim lighting only makes sense from a realism point of view if you have a clear light source behind or to the side of a character, and these flashbacks have characters in the open, so it makes sense that the lighting would be more natural and less dramatic. Gorgeous customs and shot composition, AND ECHO, that head stomp on Papyrus, that is genius! I should try that some time, for a human character; it was like Ender’s head stomp from Lost and Found, but even better, you have to appreciate the actual skull fragments crumbling on the ground (to be fair, Papyrus is a skeleton so you would probably focus on the bones crumbling and no innards lol. With innards/brains would have been over the top lol imo).
Having Frisk put away their knife for the special attack is an interesting choice ngl, small bits of character choice that make the fight more fun to watch and the characters to get invested in! Having another brief flashback with white vignette was cool, and simply wonderful work on that insane sequence! Having Frisk fly up to the wall and run circles, then run circles around the gaster blasters, and that absolutely insane slow motion/timelapse sequence with Frisk being in mid air, between all those bones, being slammed around in that little box just like the game, and that insane series of incredible acrobatics! All so well lit with your lighting set up, so well shot, so well synced, so beautiful and awe inspiring to watch! And having Sans lock up Frisk in a cage and then take a nap, hilarious XD
Finally, that end, with the final stab, Frisk winning, that insane sequence with Sans sitting down in defeat, and recreating that ending so well! I loved it all, especially with Sans actually seeing his brother’s spirit, instead of having him die off screen, it was a wonderful way to end off this animation. I love it Echo, I love it so much!!!!
And this lighting Echo, it evokes this film that I love dearly for its visual prowess, the 2006 film 300. It is unnecessarily bloody and is ofc very much not historically accurate, but you managed to create a parallel style to that film and apply it strikingly to Undertale! To sum up 300, it has a particular way of framing shots, using rim lights and heavy shades of blue-purple for bleak, arctic and intensity driven scenes, and golden/warm lighting for more hopeful, playful, or amusing scenes. It also played quite a bit with slow motion and intense combat scenes, and allowed one to take the film more seriously, far more seriously. And you have managed a similar style and proper application of said style; you used golden lighting for the opening, especially right as Sans was begging Frisk to quit and while Sans was joking around and quipping at Frisk, showing his playful side and that he wasn’t taking the fight that seriously, then switched to harsher shades of red as the fighting grew more intense and furious, and then the film turned to beautiful shades of red, purple, and blue as the insanity exploded in the final act, Sans holding nothing back at all! The lighting constantly has a rim effect on your characters, boosting realism by a factor of ten since we have a realistic light source, the set of windows in the Judgement Hall, and the lights nicely outline the various characters and props on display, giving it this glorious cinematic look! Your cinematography as well, the dramatic push ins at moments like 4:43 with the camera shake as well, so satisfying to watch and appreciate! I think your work on this video is a wonderful parallel to 300, and surpasses it in ways like fleshing out your characters more and not being over the top with gore or violence. You told a meaningful, intense, astonishingly engaging story in one room with two video game characters; your short film is a character study in many ways imo! Comparing your work and enjoying its parallels to Zack Snyder is one of the highest compliments I can give to an animation in general, as I adore his gritty realistic style, which helps one take scenes and characters seriously and remain engaged in the story. Every scene in your animation was gorgeously shot; I would be proud to print and hang just about any frame, if not every frame, in this animation on my wall in my college dorm room, I would literally only do that for Zack Snyder’s work and a select few Blender artists as well.
I am going to rewatch this animation over several more times, probably rewatch it from time to time, you added so much depth to Undertale’s lore and characters, and I am sure I am missing plenty of smaller details and ideas that you so carefully added in each sequence. Astonishing work Echo, it is work like this that makes me want to continue in stop motion and motivates me to try and experiment! My War and Voltes V: Let’s Volt In Intro Recreation remain two of my all time favorite stop motion animations, and Undertale managed to set the bar higher in EVERY aspect. My hat is truly off to you Echo, on your literal demonstration of quality over quantity, making literal masterpieces on a low budget with your raw talent on display

    ОМГ, это было очень круто, это наверное самое лучшее воссоздание атак Санса в 3д которое я видел, обычно их воссоздают очень плохо, а тут это выглялит так, как будто Санс и вправду мог бы так атаковать ;о;

The animation was so well done!!! 1000/100
I also liked how it showed Sans and the fallen human fighting but the fallen human was in his normal form instead of his soul form. It was cool seeing the dodges and flips. As well as every one of Sans’s attacks reincarnated as Lego’s.

Thank you so much! Fun fact, originally the lighting would be sort of the same for the whole video, with a lack of color because at first I used desk lamps to light up the set. However, I purchased some new lights with colors online, and then changed my lighting after the spare attempt.
