    I ordered my XC90 R design almost 6 months ago, and I am ready to fly to Gothemburg to get it in a couple of weeks. The overseas delivery program Volvo offers is too good to be true!! Never been or driven a Volvo before by the way. So excited!!!

      Awesome! The overseas delivery program also allows you to order options that are normally europe only options.

    Great Review Steve! This is the best looking Volvo that I've ever seen. I want one of these but will wait until it is certified and much less pricey. Saw one on the highway today and it make quite the statement.

    This is how badass the new q7 would have looked had it kept the same stance of the first gen q7

    • @dehongliu5684
      @dehongliu5684 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a feeling that Audi went low on the new Q7 design, because the original Q7's design is so good that it is stealing cayenne's customers. Which Audi make more money on.

    Great review Steve. This is the best looking suv by far on the market now.

  • @MrTONYTONYM

    Test drove an T6 Inscription recently, my thoughts are: 1)The 2.0T super-turbo-charged engine pulls strong, feels just as torquey as bmw's N55, but it drones, shutters and jerks, never making you forget it is a 4 cylinder. 2) The interior is top notch 3) Start-stop system is awful, way worse than BMW's, and it is such a complicated process to shut it off. 4) Super light steering wheel, very very easy to handle and drive this big SUV around.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrTONYTONYM Didn't like the start/stop, huh? I'd put Volvo's as one of the most seamless I've driven with BMW/MINI as one of the worst.

    Wow this is the only SUV that holds a candle to the Range Rover and F-Pace in terms of looks. One of the best looking SUVs out there.

    Excellent review, beautiful video! Of course, you had a lot to work with too. ;-) I agree that Volvo has captured something special with this vehicle. And I have to believe it's putting a world of hurt on its competitors, at every price range.

      The way the XC90 is designed shows what the direction Volvo is going, and it's a good one. You saw that in the new S90, and we hope the redesigbs expand to the S60, V60, and XC60.

    • @Toyota4Life
      @Toyota4Life 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the headlight and big wheels That make it good looking. The design is actually boring looks like a big SUV.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Toyota4Life I disagree. The lines, especially viewed from the rear and rear 3/4 are totally unique. And the front fascia looks like nothing else on the road. I agree the headlights and wheels are big contributors to the overall pop.

    • @Toyota4Life
      @Toyota4Life 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes There nothing special about the front end. It just a rectangle grill. This car is not eye catching without those big wheels and headlights. The profile is very SUV basic there nth stand out about the side profile. The rear 3/4 i agree is the best angle on it but other wise its boring looking. IMO

    Steve, great review, love this car, about to order this exact model, however, quick question..... Your comment that with Air Suspension and 22 inch wheels the ride was taught but forgiving, how forgiving was it over uneven/potholed roads? Thanks

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Andy Cole Excellent. Initial impact is quickly muted...not rough at all. 4 Corner is a pricey option but well worth it.

      +TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes - Thanks Steve, appreciate the feedback, 22's and Air Suspension it is! Pricey for sure but not in Range Rover Sport price territory, so good value for money!

    This is the best SUV in the world. Let's not kid ourselves; nobody really drives their SUVs aggressively (those buyers wouldn't have bothered with a SUV in the first place). As a luxury 7 people carrier, this is roomy, packed with useful safety tech, very luxurious with great seats and very fuel efficient due to its 2.0 4cyl engine, even moreso in the T8 PHEV.
    If you wanted a 5 seat luxury SUV, I think it is a toss-up between this and the recently refreshed Lexus RX450h. For a 7 seater, nothing beats this XC90.

    Did you ever get the start/stop to stay off? I had to manually turn it off every time that I got in the car.

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott Villeneuve Never tried. Didn't bother me so I left it on. Though I noticed if you put it in Dynamic it killed it instantly.

    • @scottvilleneuve5985

      +TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes You're right on that part. But it's fidgety to get to that menu all the time to get to a few of the settings. I wonder how the R Design differed from ours in drive-ability.

    In the Title it says: Review "buy" Auto Critic Steve Hamme, I'm pretty sure it's a typo but could it be a subliminal message to BUY this Volvo.

  • @Toyota4Life

    Without those big wheels and LED headlight... The design is pretty boring and blends into traffic.
    It is well put together on the upside and that engine is interesting tho not sure on how reliable it will be years from now

    Dirty Diana!!! Yeah MJ!! But back to the volvo. Love volvo and at some angles this car looks great, but i dislike the dashboard look. The flow it had is gone. It's now done in like 2 pieces instead of the 1 flow.

    Such a love hate relationship with cars and technology. On one hand it can make your life easier but on the other there is a huge risk (especially with first generation models) for things to go wrong and make your life a living hell. They always go with the slower/cheapest processor. I'd pay extra to get something faster. Wonder when that will be an option?

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +YODAddyLIVE I'm surprised that Volvo didn't make sure this thing was the fastest on the market with so much reliance on it for nearly everything the XC90 does.
