Gregg is the coolest for sure. Always available for fans… let’s us tell him how much he means to us and he’s super cool about it! Living legend! American Music Royalty 🙌
Gregg Rolie has always been a favorite singer / songwriter / keyboard player, since Santana days, and his years with Journey.... Totally incredible! My favorite early Journey tune is "To Play Some Music". Gregg always sounded (and still does!) fantastic!
Great to see Rolie looking and sounding so healthy. Definitely one of the greatest ever rock vocalists and the first three Journey albums remain the best they recorded. Live long and prosper Greg
Ahhhhh yeahhhhh GREG ROLLIE so glad to see you briefly with journey again and an awesome job with Journey Through Time! It's been a long time! God Bless!
Journey through time mesmerized me, long time fan, some of the best musicianship anyone could want to see/hear, Lady luck Neal absolutely tore apart .. all of that show was completely outstanding.. thank you from Northern Ireland ❤
Awesome Interview 👊🏼🔥 Love Gregg Rolie & His Family Like Crazy. Journey Will Continue forever Of A Lifetime Exactly my thoughts as well when you have Dean singing and playing Drums and Gregg on Organ, Neal on Guitar, Journey doesn’t need a Front Man, you’ve got Dean, and Gregg Rolie on Organ, Journey just needs a BadAss Bassist 🎸 Who would you choose for a BadAss Bass Player?? Then we have our BadAss Legendary Musicians of Journey 👊🏼🔥💪 Excellent, Excellent, interview. Ty ✌️❤️
Always thought Journey was at its best with Greg Rolie!!! Yes, Steve Perry's voice is legendary but when Greg sang with Steve, the two voices going back and forth was heartbreakingly beautiful!!!! "Feeling That Way/ Anytime" was the ABSOLUTE BEST OF JOURNEY!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Greg is good. I love his songs. But why does it have to be Greg OR Steve? In my opinion they are both good. And they sound good together. And they’re both in the archives for their own reasons & talents.
So cool to see Gregg Rolie again! I saw Journey last summer and I definitely missed Gregg! I got to meet him when I was 16 at a radio station BBQ. He was so friendly and nice to us. That day was a highlight of my teenage years 45 years ago!! Thanks for the interview!
I think he the best he’s so good with fans and he treats us with respect and that’s what I love about him he’s so humble what a nice person thank you gregg for being such a good person
Not only have you started a number of bands, but inducted in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame TWICE!! You Rock, Gregg!! You were incredible at the Journey Through Time show I saw you play at the Orpheum!
Journey Through Time was amazing, was clueless until I stumbled on the Blu Ray just recently - blew my mind. I saw Journey in '81 when they sold out 5 shows at Pine Knob outside of Detroit and they stayed the whole week in town, playing softball with the various local radio crews on the off days. But I was bummed I missed Gregg. My buddy saw them in '80 in Detroit with Gregg, and I've always regretted not seeing that tour, cuz they were still mixing in the first three albums on stage, so it was the best of both worlds. I honestly can't believe I'm sitting here seeing and hearing Gregg doing this thing, amazing - he's eternal! I love Santana, I love Journey, I think Neal is the best rock guitarist ever, I love Gregg's organ and vocals and song writing, I'm so glad the early stuff and Gregg are getting so much love nowadays. Fills my soul with goodness, man. Thanks for posting this interview!
Awesome interview. Love Journey as a whole, but big fan of the early albums with Gregg. It was awesome to watch him be a part of the Austin show with Journey as well.
just got done watching an old version of winds of march and the part where you get up with them white pants on. That bum LOL. But geeze your hands were absolute magic with keyboards.
Your voice is incredible by itself and then when u added Steve it was a perfect accompanying to yours. Such great music you guys made a stamp in history that will never be forgotten. 🙏👌
Great interview, I completely agree with Gregg, Multiple front men give a band .so much more depth and diversity. Journey was always my favorite band but am also a big fan of The Cars. With them, Just the back and forth between two lead singers made they're song catalog so much more diverse and interesting. Ric Ocasik even said that they had recorded songs with both him and Benjamin Orr singing the lead, and just picked the one that sounded the best. Once again, outstanding interview, now I going to go listed to "In the Beginning" and relive the Journey glory days.
Just catching up and came across this. Gregg and the bands he was in was a big part of my life. I was a teenager in the 70s and remember so clearly what rock music added to the quality of existence. Even now all these years later it took this music to bring me back to life after losing two siblings in the last few years. So I for one am so grateful for those musicians whose music has endured the test of time. I imagine Greg and Neal will always have a profound friendship. Great work. ❤
@@deandelray ... I agree with the above commentor !! ... ur interview with Gregg was great 😊 !! ... I got to see him a couple of summers ago when he was touring with Ringo and his Allstars, and I really loved 💜 seeing Gregg !! ... Gregg & Ringo were the two reasons I even wanted to experience that concert 🎶 !!! ... anyway, thx for giving us such a personal insight into the man, really loved 💜 it !!
Topaz was their finest musical work with Journey. The first record was a work of art. I wish they would have continued as a jam band! Either way Gregg had a incredible musical impact via Santana and early Journey.
Arnel has brought the band back to life, and Arnel has a great vibe. Don't mess with a good thing that works. This has always been Neil Schon's problem that disrupts the other members that ruins the band. When they are doing well old members want a piece of the pie again, and the pie is Arnel. Leave it alone Neil, and let Arnel keep the vibe don't ruin it. The old Journey is gone, let it be. Arnel can get the job done and he has proven it.
Great stuff Dean. How cool is Greg! Journey has been missing the boat since he left. Journey Through Time needs to be allowed to play or get Greg(and Dean) back in the band. Current Journey is fine but I'll take JTT before current Journey line up all day long.
Just to add, I love watching young people react to Journey usually with Steve Perry. Then they see Feeling that Way/Anytime and they are blown away. Where is Gregg, who is Gregg? They are obsessed by that time. Then I want everything of Journey from the beginning. The band is hitting hard. You'll just need to be there. This generation needs you all like never before. Journey can bring this nation back together, I really mean that. Nobody can make you feel music like Journey.
Neal, (with Cain), fired and sued Ross and Smith. Ross / Smith voted with everyone else - including Perry & Herbie - to stop Neal's trademarking of JTT merchandise.
Blessed to see Gregg 3 times in St Petersburg FL and Oshkosh, WI. Kurt Griffey was a killer guitarist. His band does Santana better than Santana as of late.
Gregg does look good and will always be the beginning sound. But why is it they don’t talk of the elephant in the room? When you hear Neal play with Steve……….. WOW!
So here's the truth from my standpoint I had not heard of lawsuits and didn't care about lawsuits didn't hear about struggles in the band I just see when somebody new pops up or somebody from the past pops up and it's great. But an interview like this where the interviewer is constantly bringing up lawsuits constantly alluding to problems in the band and feeding the rumor mill, and this guy is given the privilege of interviewing current and former band members, can't even shut up about the behind the scenes issues, the social media trolls of course are going to jump in. I don't care about the lawsuits. I don't care about the disjoints behind the scenes. I care that when I decide to go see a concert it is awesome as anything I've ever seen interesting too how he strategically leaves Steve out of the conversation, other than to say there are several Steve Perry's in the band. You can't have a Journey Through Time or a 50th Anniversary without making mention of Steve Perry
I owe so much to Gregg...my 43 year career in Rock 'n Roll started with an autograph from him! Crazy story.
Great interview. Very informative podcast.
Good luck Gregg.

@@DonitaSilk you did read my post before you commented right? Cause that was EXACTLY what I said, that they were at their best TOGETHER...
Gregg's signing often reminds me of Boston, and yes I know the two have no connection. But the signing style, it's that late 70s/early 80s, love it.

Must respect for Mr. Rolie. If he puts on sunglasses he could pass as Jeff Lynn (ELO)

Santana was one of my favorite bands as a little kid. Always had the Supernatural album playing.

Gregg talks about the office he is in and Dean's hoody is disintegrating in front of his green screen.
